“Cookie’s Crumby Pictures” is a new Sesame Street segment that parodies the coming attractions of popular movies and reinforces the show’s self-regulation, impulse control curriculum for kids.
PBS Kids adds new halfhour on air and on digital PBS Kids and Sesame Street have introduced a bonus half-hour program on television and on digital platforms. The new half-hour airs weekdays at 1 pm CT, complementing the one-hour series that airs weekdays at 9 am CT. Main Street has extended invitations to every candidate in the North Dakota races. Tune in for the conversations weekdays at 3 and 7 pm CT. Prairie Public’s radio network will broadcast live as the candidates in the North Dakota agriculture commissioner race discuss issues affecting North Dakota’s largest industry on Monday, October 6, at 6:30 pm CT. Farmer, rancher, and retired agricultural broadcaster Al Gustin of Mandan will serve as the moderator of this debate, which is being hosted by a consortium of ag-related organizations and will be held at the North Dakota Heritage Center auditorium in Bismarck. Prairie Public’s news director, Dave Thompson, will lead a post-debate discussion.

In October, Stand Up ND: Ways to Stop Bullying will begin airing a series of radio stories about different approaches to reducing bullying.

After an apprenticeship in Japan, North Dakota artist Richard Bresnahan returned to St. John’s University with a wealth of pottery knowledge. He set up an indigenous pottery studio and built the largest wood-firing kiln of its kind in North America. Richard Bresnahan: The Taste of the Clay chronicles Bresnahan’s artistic journey and the 12th firing of the kiln in September of 2013 to honor Richard’s art history teacher and mentor, Sister Johanna Becker. o you remember Abercrombie and Sweet Violet? These critters helped to spread the word about Prairie Public’s children’s programs, and in the summer of 1988 they traveled 5,586 miles and appeared in 29 towns in a special outreach campaign. A few years later, in 1993, Prairie Public launched KidZone, a lively, innovative, and successful approach for scheduling and promoting the benefits of educational children’s programs. The effort received lauds from
The North Dakota Education Association, which named Prairie Public a “Friend of Education” as a provider of education and lifelong learning. Stay tuned for more bits of history throughout this year as we celebrate 50 years of public media that entertains, but also educates, informs, and inspires.
