Scott says we often underestimate the impact that a great conductor can bring to the musical performance of a fine orchestra performing wonderful repertoire. “Some of the best recorded music comes to light because of the research and musical insight provided by the conductor,” he said, “and their individualistic approach to the nuance of the music is often the most interesting aspect of the performance. Edison: FM/AM has 52% “share of ear” Americans spend an average of four hours and five minutes a day consuming audio. A new cross-media analysis by Edison Research finds slightly more than half (52.1%) of that time goes to over-the-air FM/AM radio. But new media options now account for nearly a quarter of listening time. Web radio accounts for 11.5% of time spent listening to audio, the research shows, with 20.3% of time spent with owned music including CDs and MP3s. Satellite radio takes a 7.7% slice of the audio day, Edison says.

Debates scheduled are the North Dakota US House race (Kevin Cramer vs. George B. Sinner), the Minnesota 7th District Congressional race (Collin Peterson vs. Torrey Westrom), and the North Dakota Agriculture commissioner race (Doug Goehring vs. Ryan Taylor). Radio will also host debates for the two openings on the Public Service Commission and with two candidates in the Secretary of State race.

SPIN with Cal Olson, which premiered in 1976, was a weekly hour-long magazine program with interviews and discussions about topical interests.
North Central Educational Television changed its identity in the ’70s and a growth spurt began. In 1974 the corporate name was changed to Prairie Public Television, KGFETV Grand Forks signed on, and Prairie Public Television became available in Winnipeg via cable. State legislatures in St. Paul and Bismarck added support in 1975 and 1977, enabling expansion beyond the Red River Valley, beginning with the addition of KBME-TV Bismarck in 1979. KSRE-TV Minot signed on in
North Dakota This Week, a weekly news broadcast featuring Boyd Christenson and a roundtable of journalists from across the state, premiered in 1980.
1980, KDSE-TV Dickinson in 1982, and KWSETV Williston in 1983. Technological advances made it possible for Prairie Public to televise UND hockey live from Providence, Rhode Island, in 1980. The UND Sioux won a national title as viewers in North Dakota watched.
