WELCOME On behalf of Royal Gorge River Initiative Organization (RG-RIO), Fremont Community Foundation, and the Greater Cañon City Chamber Foundation, we invite you to join us for a weekend of boats, bands, bikes and beer – and loads of family fun – at this year’s Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival (RGWF), taking place July 23rd and 24th at Centennial Park in Cañon City, Colorado. In its 12th year, RGWF will be an event like no other. Water levels are expected to be perfect for a full slate of our usual professional, amateur and just-plain-fun white water events, like the fan-favorite Raft Rodeo, Build Your Own Boat Race (BYOB) and Duckie Dash. But this year we are expanding our white water fun with new events such as head-to-head stand up paddle boarding (SUP), a SUP Parade, several races through the Royal Gorge that will end at Centennial Park; and we can’t wait to watch United States Rafting Association (USRA) Regional rafting sprint and slalom competitions. The changes don’t stop with river events, however. RGWF 2021 will also include all-new mountain bike and running events called the Great Escape Trail Events. This series of running and mountain bike challenges, setting out at 7:30AM on Saturday the 24th, will be fun and challenging for all ages of runners and riders. RGWF began over a decade ago as a way to fund the Whitewater Park and river improvements Cañon City residents and visitors enjoy today. With plans for more river features in the coming months, the work of building a world class whitewater park in the heart of Cañon City continues. All of the money raised at RGWF goes back to the community through the programs of RG-RIO, Fremont Community Foundation and the Greater Cañon City Chamber Foundation. Of course, this would not be possible without our sponsors. This year’s platinum sponsors include Budweiser/Eagle Rock Colorado, Cañon Signature Mortgage, City Auto Plaza, and St. Thomas More Hospital, joined by many other Gold and Silver level sponsors as well. The festival grounds will encompass the majority of Centennial Park and include the north side of the river between 4th Street and the pedestrian bridge, the pedestrian bridge itself, and the south bank of the river. The Great Escape Trail Events will depart and return to Centennial Park as well. As always, we will have plenty of fun events for kids and teens. River Lotus Yoga will once again be there on Saturday morning at nearby Veterans Park. The ever popular Weenie Dog Race will take place on Saturday at 3:00PM. And again this year there will be two stages: the River Stage and the Main Stage, featuring several local and Colorado based bands for the 2-day event. Date: Friday, July 23, 2021 Start Time: 4 pm Location: Whitewater Park & Pink House Registration: Online or at the Main Tent in Centennial Park by 3 pm Friday Check-in: Main Tent by 3 pm Qualifications: Beginner through expert Cost: $12 per entry for River Play Description: Demonstrations will take place in the Whitewater Park beginning at 4 pm and continuing throughout the day.The River Play freestyle competition is your opportunity to show everyone what freestyle is all about.This is where kayaks, rafts, and SUPs will compete head to head in a fun show of their best moves.The crowd along with select judges will determine the winners. Costumes are welcome but not mandatory. Let your personality take control. The SUP parade will begin at Pink House at 5 pm.
ECHO CANYON/8 MILE BAR & GRILL COMMUNITY RAFT RACE Date: Friday, July 23, 2021 Start Time: 6:30 pm (Participants need to be at the Main Stage by 5:15 pm) Start Location: Pink House End Location: Whitewater Park Registration: Online or at the Main Tent in Centennial Park Race Distance: 1.5 miles Check-in: Main Tent by 5 pm (the auction will take place at 5:30 pm at the Main Stage) Number of Participants: 6 per boat Cost: $100 per boat ($25 discount for Chamber members) Description: This event can handle up to 10 different businesses or groups. Each team will have 6 people and will be provided a raft and equipment by a local rafting company. However, you will have to bid on your raft guide at the Guide Auction starting at 5:30 pm at the Main Stage.This is a fundraiser and the team that bids the most for their guide will have the choice of their starting position at Pink House. A shotgun start will signal the teams to enter the Arkansas River and race to Whitewater Park.This is all about bragging rights and the winning team will be awarded a traveling trophy.

Description: The Hot Diggity Weenie Dog Races are one of the most beloved events at the Whitewater Festival. There are 4 different events within this competition, a costume contest, a puppy race, an adult race, and a senior dog race. This is for Dachshunds only, or weenie dogs if you prefer. All of the dogs must be certified, but do not have to be registered with the AKA. Race entries will be accepted on-site from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm at the Weenie Dog registration tent near the Main Stage. The Whitewater Festival is a dog free event, but all competitors are welcome in the park starting at 1:30 pm and must leave by 8 pm. The dogs must remain on a leash at all times except while racing. We will have a complete list of rules on the website as well as a registration form. Texas Creek Panic is a 3-piece band comprised of three veteran musicians who all grew up listening to the same music and imported their various influences into their playing style. Members include Harvey Goodman on drums, Jas Srogoncik on bass and Ric Bolinger on guitar. Their music is a mixture of assorted cover tunes and originals all of which incorporate the band’s love of boogie based “Chicago Swing” and “Texas Shuffles”. FRADYCATZ Fradycatz is a Canon City based rock a roll band playing original and cover songs that keep crowds on their feet and dancing. While only three years old, the band consisting of lead singer/guitar player Drew Frady, singer and lead guitar player Kris Wolfe, bass player Jason Harding, and drummer Patrick Elliott, has over 50 years of concert and recording experience between them. They have performed cross country from Colorado to New York with an upcoming fall trip to Miami to open for Melissa Etheridge.

A Church band that plays in bars? Or a bar band that plays in Church? That’s how you could describe one of Cañon City’s most versatile and fun bands, Six Bucks and a Flight!! Formed from the members of the Catalyst Church worship band, this eclectic group brings a variety of music to the stage that everyone will enjoy. From classic blues, pop, and rock, all the way to current hits, and some country favorites, you are bound to hear something you love at one of their shows. The band is made up of all Fremont County locals; Aaron Daniel (lead guitar/vocals), Ryan Foster (rhythm guitar/vocals), Ryan McBride (drums), and Zach Schneider (bass guitar). With the band members all brining a unique flavor, high energy, and dedicating themselves to put on a great show for the crowd, Six Bucks and a Flight is definitely a band you will want to see live.

ADAM ASHLEY & THE CASH ONLY BAND
Adam Ashley was born in the small town of Rifle, Colorado, in July of 1984. His interest in music started at a very young age when his father made him take piano lessons. From there, Adam went on to play both bass and acoustic guitars. As the years passed, Adam continued to play and sing. He went from career to career, but Adam never looked at singing and playing music as anything more than a hobby, until one day at a CCMA talent show in 2006. Adam met a woman named Misty Dawn. After winning male vocalist of the year, Misty pushed for him to consider singing as a career. Adam started singing in the town of Buckskin Joe, Colorado. He performed daily for tourists and spent more time writing songs. It was at this time Adam went on to form a band, and start a tour. He and his band played venues from Texas to Illinois. Adam loves every show and it is easy to see why.
