Raydean Gail "Rusty" Hines 1965 - 2018

Raydean Gail "Rusty" Hines was born on September 29, 1965 at the Weisbrod Hospital in Eads, CO to Vernon Gail "Corky" and Roberta "Birdie" Mays Hines. Rusty attended school in Ulysses, KS graduating high school in 1984. As a child, Rusty loved sports. He was crazy about football and baseball in particular, but enjoyed them all, and played many of them. Rusty attended Ft. Lewis college in Durango, then completed his AS degree at Seward County Community College. While in Durango, Rusty met Laurie M. Dolan and they were married in 1989. While in Durango, their oldest child, Ashley was born on Christmas day in 1989. In 1990 Rusty and Laurie moved to Ulysses, Kansas where they lived for 23 years. While living in Ulysses, Rusty worked for the Co-op and their second child, Robbie was born on October 4, 1992. Rusty was passionate about his family and followed his kids to all their sporting events. He was very active in the wrestling program, even as a coach. Rusty volunteered many hours to the athletic programs that his kids were involved in. Rusty was a "die hard" Denver Broncos fan. He liked to cook and was very good at it. In 2013, Rusty and Laurie moved to Midland, TX where Rusty began a career in the oil field industry.

She was a proficient reader and would often read two or three novels weekly. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday and opportunity to exhibit her cooking prowess and warm hospitality. The house was always full of friends and family with a feeling of warmth and comfort. Middle age brought on her true calling in life to help and assist the less fortunate. She became a Healthcare worker at St. Thomas More Hospital where she worked for many years before retiring. Her legacy, in part, should include that she was a good Mother, compassionate and caring individual with a true love for life. Pat is survived by her former husband of 26 years, John F. Tollis, daughter(s) Laura (Eric) Wilder and Melissa, Son(s) Mark (Dawn) and Adam. Siblings include brother(s) Chester Janousek and Mike Janousek, sister(s) Diane Elliot, Janice Theopile and Sandy Schuler. Four Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews. Pat was proceeded in death by her oldest son Johnny, parents Ethel and Ralph Janousek, brother(s) Frank and Joe Janousek, sister Sharon Clark, Grand Mother Dorothy Wiley and Aunt Faye Anne Akers. Patricia will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. The family will arrange a private memorial service to celebrate her Life.

John William Kenline January 13, 1931 ~ June 24, 2018

John William Kenline, a thoughtful, kind, loving, devoted, Christian husband, father and veterinarian passed away at 2 a.m. June 24, 2018, at the age of 87 from complications of Parkinson's disease and kidney failure. He was born on January 13, 1931 in Baltimore, Maryland to William John Kenline and Mary (Gollnick) Kenline. After graduating from Franklin High School in Philadelphia in 1948 "Jack" was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean conflict. After serving his country he attended Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. He then continued his education at the University of PA in their prestigious Veterinary Program, becoming a Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD). He was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church and was a member of the Gideons. He was a 3rd degree Mason and Past Master of the Mt. Moriah Lodge. He was active in Prison Ministries as well as the children and adult literacy programs. He met his wife Dona during the summer of 1960 at the Hot Springs pool in Glenwood Springs while serving an internship with the USDA in Colorado. A month later, they married and stayed that way for the next 58 years. Dona joined him in Philadelphia for his last year of college. After his graduation they moved west where John worked for the USDA for a short time as a meat inspector. In 1967 John and Dona purchased a veterinary practice from Dr. Ron Bell in Canon City, Colorado where "Doc" practiced veterinary medicine until 1998. He

cared for large and small animals and those in between often saying that he had "the very best profession". In 2003, Jack and Dona became part owners, along with other family members, of a motel in Colorado Springs and have been active in the operations and management of that business for the past 15 1/2 years. He loved the mountains, hiking, fishing, hunting and camping. The mountains regenerated his soul. Together Dona and Jack traveled extensively by car, campers, motorhomes, planes, and ships to most states and several countries. For many years he loved riding his bicycle; riding all the way to Westcliffe and back. Boating on Lake Pueblo was a family favorite. Jack was a man with boundless energy and the stamina to keep going when all others were giving up. He was always kind, gentle and so very considerate, a man loved by many. He is survived by his wife, Dona Kenline; sons, William "Bill", 56, of Colorado Springs, Doug, 55, of Reston VA. Jon, 48, (Michelle) of Penrose, Colorado; grandchildren, Logan and Emma; nephew, John (Christina), and George; niece, Carolyn Livingston. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Pat (Bud) George. Memorial service, Friday July 6, 2018 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church 10:30 a.m. with a light lunch afterwards. Edward William Neubaum, D.D.S., 77, passed away June 23, 2018 at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Colorado from pulmonary fibrosis. Edward was born to Erhart W. Neubaum and Lorene F. (Goedert) Neubaum on March 27, 1941, in Carroll, Iowa. He completed his degree in dentistry before serving as an officer in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1968. A love of the outdoors and mountains brought him to live in Colorado in 1968. Edward returned to graduate school to earn an M.S. in pediatric dentistry, specializing in treatment of children and the mentally challenged. He served the community of Southern Colorado in this capacity for over 30 years. Unique in so many ways, Edward pursued his passions of trains, buttonbox accordions, antique trucks, old Farmall tractors, photography, and cowboys throughout his life. Obituary John Marshall Watson March 30, 1945 - June 8, 2018

John Marshall Watson was born on March 30, 1945, in Franklin, TN. He left this life behind, June 8, 2018 in Englewood, CO. He married his beloved wife Julia (Judy) on February 27, 1994 in Canon City, CO. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary; and sisters, Patricia and Lou. He is survived by his loving wife, Julia Watson; daughters, Dana (Pete) Forsey, Debbie (Michael) Johnston; granddaughters, Rachel, Ava, and Raelyn; step-children, Sean (Melissa) Roetker, and Tessa (Alan) Rife; step-grandchildren, Layne, Evander, Everson, Genevieve; and great-granddaughter, Sloan; sister, Nancy Fernandez; and brothers, Earnest and Jimmy Watson. John enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1964. During his service, John served as part of the Security Police. He was deployed to Vietnam where he served his country and was awarded 4 commendations from

the Air Force. Most notable were his commendations for heroism, and in 1975, he was awarded "Air Force Airman of the Year". Following his military service he was a Deputy Sheriff for 4 years in Tennessee. Ready for a change, he traded in his gun for a screwdriver and dove into the alarm technologies industry. He made one of his dreams come true when he started his own company, Pyro Technology. John's personal passions were NASCAR, making people laugh, and his family. Although he saw many tragedies in life and accomplished much, he always remained humble and kind. He was a loving friend that would give you the shirt off his back. Orchard of Hope Foundation to present Walk for Hope on July 14 By Carie Canterbury The Daily Record It’s a day of mixed emotions — from tears and hugs to laughter and fun, but the Walk for Hope brings community members of all ages together with one single purpose: to raise support for local cancer champions and their families. The Orchard of Hope Foundation will present the 18th annual Walk for Hope event from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 14 at Veterans Park. The Orchard of Hope Foundation’s mission is to improve the quality of life for cancer champions and their families by providing financial and emotional support, as well as offering assistance to local agencies and organizations that support cancer programs and education. Sandi Allen, the founder of the Orchard of Hope, said all funds raised at the annual event stay in Fremont County. “We really have basically no overhead, other than insurance and office supplies,” she said. “We are able to give 90 to 95 percent of that money back to the community.” Teams, businesses, organizations and groups are invited to take part in the event to help raise funds for the Orchard of Hope Foundation and to enjoy a day of fun activities, entertainment, valuable drawings and shopping of local goods. The day will begin with breakfast being served at 7:30 a.m. with registration for survivors and teams opening at 8 a.m. Teams may sign up the day of the walk. The team fee is $100. Opening ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m. with an opening lap for cancer

survivors, followed by individual walkers. Immediately after the opening lap, the new Wet Zone for children will open for the day. Cost for the Wet Zone is $5 per child, which includes a wristband that allows children access to the bungee jump, bounce houses and wet zone, with water sprayers provided. “We blocked off a portion of the park just for kids, and it will be supervised,” Allen said. “They can stay in there all day if they want, there is no time limit.” The ninth annual fire truck pull will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the inaugural bed race. The fee for the fire truck pull is $100 per team, which is made up of 10 people. Three categories of competition include men’s, women’s and co-ed teams. The fee for the bed race also is $100 per team, with five people per team: one riding on the bed, two in front and two behind. Teams may make their own bed or rent one that was pre-made for the event. The teams will compete for the best times around the track. “There will be several obstacles to make it more interesting,” Allen said. Lunch will be available for purchase and then Applewood will perform from noon to 1:45 p.m. in the band shell. The reading of names of survivors and lost loved ones will be at 2 p.m., followed by the balloon release at 2:30 p.m., as well as awarding of trophies and drawings from individual booths. Balloons may be purchased in honor of a cancer survivor or in memory of someone who passed away, for $5 each. Allen said 18 teams will have

Because of a water outage related to construction at Cañon City High School, the district moved the service to the middle school. It will remain at CCMS, located at 1215 Main St., for the remainder of July. Since the program started about a month ago, the summer lunch program, which is offered by the district’s Nutrition Services Department, has served almost 9,000 students for both breakfast and lunch. The program has been going on for eight years and started with the help of Paula Buser, director of support services, and Janelle Grooms, nutrition manager. The summer food service program is federally funded by the U.S Department of Agriculture and state-administered program. State agencies communicate with USDA. Schools are

Schools qualify if the community is 50 percent low income. Breakfast is served from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and lunch is 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. There also are mobile sites set up at different locations through July 31. The mobile sites will be at four different locations for 20-25 minutes and only

serve lunch. The mobile sites will start at 11 a.m. at Cañon Exploratory School, 2855 N. Ninth St. The second stop from 11:25 to 11:40 a.m. will be at 1401 Washington St. The third stop at McKinley Elementary School is from 11:50 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. and the last location will be at Centennial Park, Fourth and Griffin, from 12:15 to 12:40 p.m. For the full menu and nutritional facts of each meal, visit www.ccsnutrition.org.
