In Loving Memory Clifford Darrow Bowersox

Carol Lee Kamoske

Clifford Darrow Bowersox, 77, of Williamsburg passed away on May 14, 2018 of natural causes surrounded by his family. Clifford was born on July 26, 1940, in Colorado Springs, Co to Clyde Orin Bowersox and Clara Beth Fransico. Cliff had 5 brothers and two sisters, Dale, Dean, Cal, Ray and Richard, Carol and Joyce. Cliff served as a Military Police Ofﬁcer in the United States Marine Corp. from August 1957 to August 1961. On Sept. 15, 1962, he married the love of his life Betty Ann Fisher. Together they had 4 Children, Holly (Kurt), Shelly, Steven (Tamera) and Susanna (Russel). He had 12 grandchildren and 16 Great-grandchildren. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed teasing and joking with his kids and grandchildren. He was a loving faithful servant of Christ and a member of the SDA Church in Cañon City. Services will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3180 East Main St., Cañon City, on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 2 p.m.

Carol Lee Kamoske was born Sept. 25, 1941, to Edward and Marie Kaskowski in Milwaukee, Wisconsin who lost her battle with cancer on May 14, 2018, in the care of her loving daughter. Carol married Edward B. Kamoske in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 10, 1961. They were married for 41 happy years prior to Edwards passing. She was a retired secretary from the Canon City School District. She was a dear mother to Karen (Rhonda Wheeler), Chris (Becky) and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Carol was a devoted grandmother to Kyle and Emily Kamoske, a loving sister to Richard Kass and Russell Kaskowski. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Beatrice, Marian, Jean, and Claudia; and brother, Gerard. Special thanks to Hospice nurse Shari Rogers. Memorial service, 2 p.m. Friday May, 18, 2018, Holt Mortuary, 806 Macon Avenue, Cañon City, Colorado 81212. Reception to follow at 3 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Cañon City. Michael James Truitt

Michael James Truitt, 45, died unexpectedly May 4, 2018, at his home in Cañon City, Colorado. He was born Feb. 5, 1973 in Cañon City, to Jimmie and Joanne Truitt. Michael graduated from Cañon City High School in 1991 and earned his Associate’s Degree from American Diesel and Automotive College in 1993. He worked as an auto mechanic and later became a Certified Structural Welder while working in the precast concrete industry. Michael learned to drill water wells while working for his brother-in-law, Robert Young and he excelled at this occupation as well. Mike was a people person and he was always there to help his friends and family with his charming smile. He was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed bow hunting elk with his Dad. Mike enjoyed fishing of all types, including salt-water fishing with his parents in the bays around Port Aransas, Texas. He loved doing outdoor activities of any kind including camping, 4 wheeling, and skiing (water & snow), spending time at the beach (Texas, Oregon, California & Mexico) was a favorite pastime of his. Mike also enjoyed cooking, which he learned while working for Rodney’s in Cherry Creek. He was very patriotic, loved our country and appreciated God’s creative splendor. Michael is survived by his parents, Jim and Joanne Truitt of Canon City; sister, Rene’ (Robert) Young; and nieces, Megan of Florence and Kayla Bouchard (fiancé, Scott Carter) of Castle Rock; uncles, Dennis (Virginia) Truitt of Canon City and Gary (Cindy) Truitt of Elbert along with numerous cousins. He is also survived by his two Chihuahua companions, Lola and Lita. He was preceded in death by his brother, Corey Truitt, in l999. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018, Wilson Funeral Home, 1449 S. Ninth St., Cañon City, with Pastor David Rogers officiating. A celebration of life will follow at the home of Dean Hardrick, his longtime best friend, at 1711 Locust St., Canon City. Services have been entrusted to Holt Family Funeral Home. The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey in Cañon City has produced a 2015 Colorado Merlot Reserve, which was a major winner in the Colorado Governors’ Wine Competition and now has been awarded a Double Gold Medal from the prestigious Tasters Guild International Wine Competition. About 1,400 wines were evaluated by 23 judges at the 31st annual competition in Grand Rapids, Mich. Out of 16 wines entered, the winery garnered 15 medals. Legacy Bank announces death of chairman

The Legacy Bank Board of Directors announces with great sadness the passing of Frederick Esgar, the company’s’ patriarch and second generation of family to lead the bank. Mr. Esgar started at the bank in 1957 with his father who originated the company as The State Bank of Wiley in 1907. Representing the bank’s founding family and serving as Director up until the time of his death, Mr. Esgar, initiated his banking career after his graduation in finance from the University of Colorado. Mr. Esgar served as a leader among community bankers for 60 years. “Today is a sad day for all those touched by Mr. Esgar both professionally and personally. Four Mile Golf Course 2018 Junior Golf Program

We have teamed up with the Four Mile Golf Course to offer the Junior Golf program this summer. This program will run on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings for two weeks, offering two separate sessions. The session will be divided into three age groups at three separate times. Each age group will be capped at 10 participants per group. Every group will be taught the fundamentals of golf including: basic grip and setup, short game, irons, driving and round preparation. On course etiquette will also be stressed. It is also important to follow up the lessons with time on the golf course itself for those who wish to play. SESSION 1: June 11, 12, 14, 18, 19, 21 SESSION 2: June 25, 26, 28, July 2, 3, 5 FEES: $65 (In-District) $80 (Out-of-District) per session 8 – 10-year olds @ 8 am (This group, with the assistance of parents and volunteers, will get on the course the last session and play one to three holes, depending on time)
