Welcome to the 22nd Boulder International Film Festival — a celebration of creativity, community and the power of film to connect us all. We look forward to celebrating with you, with filmmakers joining us from around the world and with our incredible sponsors, donors and volunteers who, year after year, help make BIFF one of Colorado’s most beloved festivals.
We are opening the festival with the much-buzzed-about Tuner, directed by BIFF alumnus and Oscar–winning filmmaker Daniel Roher, and starring Leo Woodall, Dustin Hoffman and Havana Rose Liu. On Closing Night, You Had to Be There tells the hilarious story behind the legendary 1972 Toronto production of Godspell — an event that launched a comedy revolution and the careers of comedy legends including Martin Short, Eugene Levy, Gilda Radner, and many others.
We’re thrilled to feature another inperson podcast with The Hollywood Reporter’s incomparable Scott Feinberg, who will sit down at the Boulder Theater on Saturday night for a special live Awards Chatter podcast with award-winning actor and BIFF alumnus Alec Baldwin. It’s sure to be a fascinating and insightful interview you won’t want to miss!
We heard another film festival is coming to Boulder! As part of our 2026 lineup, BIFF is proud to partner with the Sundance Film Festival to screen a selection of their 2026 standout films and can’t wait to share these incredible stories with our audiences. Check out the films on page 14.
Outdoor action, getting any? Join us for the BIFF Adventure Film Program, featuring the year’s most thrilling adventure films — from climbing and highlining to mountain biking and ski mountaineering — and catch an inperson pre-release screening of the incredible new HBO series The Dark Wizard by Boulder’s own Sender Films
Our famous and delicious fundraiser, CineCHEF, returns on Thursday night, featuring an all-star line-up of Badass Women Chefs. Other highlights include BIFF at Home! virtual screenings, films at Longmont Museum, our legendary parties and the 16th Singer-Songwriter Showcase at one of the hottest music venues in town, Velvet Elk Lounge. If these walls could talk...join us at the fun and funky Oddfellows Hall for the Saturday night BIFF After Dark Party (yes, the B.A.D. Party).
Get your tickets online, on the BIFF app, or in person at the Visitor Information Kiosk on the corner of Pearl and 13th Streets (1303 Pearl St.) or at the Century Boulder (1700 29th St.).
This is your town, these are your stories and BIFF is your festival — so grab a room, get a Festival Pass, and enjoy a world-class film, food, and music vacation right here in Boulder.

In the wake of a fatal on-set shooting, actor Alec Baldwin faces trial for involuntary manslaughter. But as headlines feed on his fame and reputation, a question looms: Is Baldwin being judged by the law or by the court of public opinion?
On October 21, 2021, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed on a movie set by a prop gun held by the actor Alec Baldwin. In the immediate aftermath of the tragedy, virtually no one doubts that it was an accident and a deeply traumatizing experience for everyone involved. After the shock subsides, questions of responsibility, guilt, blame, punishment and justice begin circulating in the media, fueled largely by Baldwin’s fame, as well as his reputation. Talented and adored, yet also flawed, politically outspoken, and prone to explosions of anger, the New York City–based Hollywood star becomes a lightning rod for online haters and a target for pushy paparazzi. With prosecutors weighing criminal charges, the story that unfolds is driven less by the facts surrounding the case, and more by who Alec Baldwin is — both as a man and as a public figure.

The Motown hit became the world’s first gay anthem, but Bean turned away from mainstream fame to embrace activism, founding the Minority AIDS Project to serve communities devastated by the AIDS crisis and establishing Unity Fellowship Church, the first LGBTQ+ ministry. Unexpected and irreverent, André Is an Idiot is a wildly life-affirming and sometimes hilarious film about facing death — and the strange clarity that comes when life suddenly feels finite. When André Ricciardi, a self-proclaimed “idiot” for skipping the colonoscopy that might have saved him, learns he’s dying, he turns his final chapter into an experiment in radical honesty, humor and curiosity. André has never done anything the conventional way, and confronting mortality proves no different. André’s inner world — his fears, philosophies and unique imagination — is brought to life through fantastical animation blended with vérité footage. The result is a playful and comedic portrait of a man determined to meet death as openly, humorously and defiantly as he lives.

Before Coachella and Woodstock, there was Newport. From 1963 to 1966, the Newport Folk Festival became the heartbeat of a generation — a place where protest songs ignited, voices found power and Bob Dylan transformed from political balladeer to leatherjacketed rock ’n’ roller. Newport & The Great Folk Dream plunges viewers into these electrifying years, told by those who lived them — Johnny Cash, Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, Judy Collins, Howlin’ Wolf, Mississippi John Hurt and The Lovin’ Spoonful. The film celebrates a thrilling mix of American music: gospel, Delta blues, fife and drum, and even axe-chopping rhythms from a Texas chain gang. The film interweaves moments from the distant past with those of the recent present, taking viewers back-and-forth through time, and inviting personal reflections on the inexorable flow of aging and the unfinished project of living.

The pair fell madly for each other during Lotta’s relatively short stay. And though she promised to come back in August when she left, that month came and went without her return. Crazy in love and armed with a great astrological projection, PK packed his paintbrushes and left India on a bicycle with the plan of cycling 7,000 miles to Sweden to find her. From deep behind enemy lines comes a long-buried chapter of American military history. After fifty years of silence, the Vietnam War’s first all-Black special operations team reunites to tell their extraordinary story. Operating in the shadows during one of the war’s most volatile years, these soldiers carried out covert missions while confronting danger abroad and injustice at home. Through gripping firsthand accounts, the film uncovers a powerful legacy of courage, brotherhood, and resilience that history nearly forgot. At its heart is Ed Emmanuel, whose memoir Soul Patrol recounts his tour in Vietnam and anchors an emotional reunion. If poetry had a pop icon, Mary Oliver would be it. From a lonely childhood to literary fame, her life was defined by her devotion to nature and the long journey of learning to love and to be loved. A best-selling poet and Pulitzer Prize–winner, she embraced quiet observation, long walks in the woods and the companionship of dogs. like a bunch of singing, overall-clad hippies retelling the Gospel of Matthew turned out to be a talent incubator of remarkable proportions. During its 14-month run, the cast included future comedy royalty: Martin Short, Eugene Levy, Gilda Radner, Andrea Martin, Dave Thomas, Jayne Eastwood, Victor Garber and musical director Paul Shaffer. Yes, that many legends really were in one show.
Lightning struck. Repeatedly. The production’s loose, improvisational vibe helped shape the sensibility that would later define Saturday Night Live, SCTV, and a generation of film and TV comedy. Nick Davis’ documentary captures the magic through lively interviews and playful recreations (since, tragically, no one in 1972 thought to film everything on a smartphone).
