Looking back at 2018 A nsel Adams said, “There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs.” For the first time this year, we have decided to publish a full special supplement showcasing the best photos of the year for 2018. The Camera was accurately named many years ago. Back then, due to production limitations, the Camera was limited to publishing a few black and white photos. Later, as production capabilities improved, color photography of local events crept into the newspaper’s pages. As the years passed, technological improvements allowed for most, if not all, of our local photos to be displayed in color. Our team of photographers wins awards every year for their photographic work. They take great pride in chronicling the lives of Boulder County residents through the lenses of their camera equipment. Photography always has been and always will be a big part of the story we tr y to tell every day as our news team covers the happenings in Boulder County. Whether they are photographing weather events, fires, floods, accidents, sporting events, readers’ milestones or just finding that one photo that is so intriguing that
it speaks more than a thousand words to our readers, our journalist photographers are there with their cameras. This section is a collection of their finest work in 2018. Some of the photos you will remember, while others will be new to you. One thing I am certain of is that you will enjoy every page of this truly special section. Whether they accompany articles or just a few lines of text, photographs always help tell the story. I know you will remember the stories and all of the good and bad emotions tied to these photos as you enjoy this section.
