Carl H. Kruse 1928 - 2019 Carl H. Kruse of Canon City, CO left for his eternal home on Saturday, November 30. 2019 at the age of 91. Those left to cherish his memory are Marjorie, his wife of over 50 years, children, grandchildren, numerous other relatives and friends. He proudly joined the Army to serve his country in Korea from 1951 to
1953. He loved to tell stories of his life and shared his experiences with all who would listen, especially about his loving Savior, Jesus. A celebration of his life will be held at Canon Community Baptist Church, 1111 Monroe in Canon City on Saturday, December 14th at 1:00pm with a reception to follow.
Margie Janette Cooley October 18, 1947 ~ December 3, 2019 Margie Janette Cooley, age 72, passed away December 3, 2019 with her husband by her side. She was a type setter and had lived in Florence for 20 years. Margie was born October 18, 1947 to Eugene and Mary (Sandusky) McDonald in Fort Collins, Colorado. She met Terry Cooley and they were married April 13th 1985 in Colorado Springs, CO. Together they built a life they loved. Margie was an avid fisher and would help those around her to become better fishermen. She loved gardening, even becoming a master
gardener. She was a member of the type setter union. Margie is survived by her husband of 34 years, Tad Cooley; brother Kenneth (Linda) McDonald; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. A graveside service is scheduled for 1PM Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Union Highland Cemetery in Florence, Colorado. Joshua Eli Voth, 28, died unexpectedly on December 4, 2019 during a work accident at Fremont Correctional Facility. Josh was born in Lyons, Kansas, October 29, 1991 to Eric Voth and Melissa Hutchinson. He graduated high school in Lyons, Kansas where he was an accomplished wrestler winning multiple State Titles. Following high school Josh worked as a welder and Heavy Equipment Operator. Josh started work at DOC in February of 2016. Josh worked hard to achieve his rank as Sergeant and was working towards promoting to Lieutenant. Josh and Tomi welcomed their first-born child Samantha on March 5, 2014. On September 24, 2016 Josh married the love of his life Tomi, who was his partner in life for over eight years. On July 12, 2017 and March 17, 2019, he welcomed his daughter Addison and son Jace into the world. He was a devoted father and his children were the most important part of his life. Besides spending time with his family and friends, Josh was an avid fisherman who spent most of his free time out on the lake. Josh was often joined by his daughter Samantha, friends, and co-workers. He enjoyed hunting, camping and being outdoors. He had a very successful hunting season this year killing

Nate was born to Roy and Janice Berckefeldt on February 9, 1978 in Hillsboro, Oregon. Nate loved the lord, his family, friends, and the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, playing sports, running, and watching the broncos. He will be remembered for his outgoing charming personality, quick wit, sense of humor, and strong spirit which drew others to him. James F. Morrissey, age 90, passed away on June 5, 2019 at his home in Cañon City, Colorado surrounded by his wife Marjorie and his son, Mike. Marjorie C. Morrissey, age 88, passed away on Nov. 13, 2019 at her assisted living apartment in Aurora, Colorado surrounded by her son, Mike and private care nurses. Jim died of complications from prostate cancer and Marjorie died of a broken heart after 68 years of marriage.
The two met on the Rodeo Cowboy Association circuit in S. Dakota in 1949 and were married in Middletown, Ohio in 1951. They were loving and supporting parents to their only son, Mike. Dependable and dedicated friends to many and true lovers of life. The 5 months between the dates of their passings were the longest period of time that these two had been apart since 1950. They are together again as it should be.

Porter named county’s Employee of the Year By Sarah Rose The Daily Record
Carrie Porter was recognized Tuesday as Fremont County’s Employee of the Year during a county commissioners meeting. Porter, who was one of nine people nominated for the award, is the Family Services Program Administrator for the Fremont County Department of Human Services. A letter recognizing Porter’s dedication was read by Fremont County Commissioner Dwayne McFall during the meeting. “Your dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed by your co-workers,” he said. “Your contributions to the county are appreciated as stated in your nomination. Always goes above and beyond, treats everyone with a smile and a can-do attitude. The board also appointed two new members to the Fremont County Tourism Council. Hans Prahl and David Pruyne will serve three-year terms. During the conclusion of the meeting, the commissioners adopted the 2019 Fremont County Personal Data Privacy Policy. House Bill 18-1128 requires governmental entities who maintain documents with personal identifying information to properly dispose of and destroy these documents when they are no longer needed.
