Thousands Attend Rededication Day at Masonic Homes Thousands of persons traveled to Elizabethtown in northwest Lancaster County on Saturday, October 18, 1986 to participate in the Rededication Day activities at the Masonic Ho mes at Elizabethtown. It was a day filled with ceremony and color, with pageantry and parade, with fun and fellowship . The crowds of Masons, their families and friends, joined w ith the Elizabethtown neighbors of the Masonic Homes to witness the reenactment of the ceremony that was conducted on September 26, 19 11 when the cornerstone of Grand Lodge hall was laid. The R.W. Grand Master in 19 11 , Bro. George W . Guthrie, said in his annual report to the Grand Lodge in that year, " In cele-
brating the One Hundred and Twenty-fifth Anniversary of the Independence of this Grand Lodge, it seemed to me that we could do no thing which would more appropriately commemorate fo r all time, our gratitude to the Great Architect of the Universe, for all the blessings which we and our predecessors have received from His hands, than to lay the foundation of the first building to be erected in this great work, in the hope that it might stand for generations as a m emorial ot our gratitude and an evidence of our appreciation of the duty w hich rests upon us, to extend to those in suffering or distress the helpful hand of a Brother.' ' It is interesting to no te that 75 years after laying the foundation of Grand Lodge Hall the frate rnity is cele brating the completion of an eight-year program in which all the residential gues t buildings at the Masonic HOJ?eS, ending with Grand Lodge Hall, have been fully renovated. The facility now boasts the latest innovations for the comfort, care and safety of the Homes' guests and stands as proof positive that the promise made in 1911 , '' to extend to those in suffering or distress the helpful Con tinued to page 18.
