The following mergers of lodges were approved by vote ofthe members present at the June Quarterly Communication: 1. Stuckrath Lodge No. 430 and McKinley Lodge No. 318. The effective date ofthe merger is September 3 and the merged lodges will thereafter be known as McKinley Stuckrath Lodge No. 318. 2. Stephen Girard Lodge No. 450 and Richard Vaux Lodge No. 384. The effective date of the merger is September 2 and the merged lodges will thereafter be known as Richard Vaux Lodge No. 384. 3. Crescent Lodge No. 493 and Olivet Oriental Lodge No. 385. The effective date of the merger is June 5 and the merged lodges will thereafter be known as Olivet O riental Lodge No. 385. 4. Shenandoah Lodge No. 511 and Frackville Lodge No. 737. The effective date of the merger is June 5 and the merged lodges will thereafter be known as Frackville Lodge No. 737. 5. Mount Jewett Lodge No. 627 and Kane Lodge No. 566. The effective date of the merger is June 5 and the merged lodges will thereafter be known as Kane Lodge No. 566. 6. Patton Lodge No. 658 and Coa lport Lodge No. 574. The effective date of the merger is June 5 and the merged lodges will thereafter be known as Coalport Lodge No. 574. The number of subordinate lodges under the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania as a result of the above m ergers, is 558. The membe r ship also approved a change in the name of a lodge at the June quarterly. The name of Solomon Oakland Lodge No. 231 was officially changed to Solomon-Oakland-Fraternity Lodge No. 231.

The standard for progress, for real growth as the result ofProjectSOLOMON IL is being set by the Masons in Region 5, the south central area of Pennsylvan ia. Region 5, a 10-county area of cities and suburbs and countryside, contains 57 individual lodges in six different Masonic Districts. It is a microcosm and holds the promise that what is being done well there, if adopted an d practiced elsewhere, will guaran tee the continued success of Project SOLOMON IL t he Rebuilding of Freemasonry in Pennsylvania. The regional and assistant overseers for Project SOLOMON II in Region 5 are working the plan and proving the p lan works! Bro. Charles A Achey, Jr., Past District Deputy Grand Master for the First Masonic District has assumed the positio n of Overseer for Region 5 from Bro. Dean E. Vaughn, co-author of the project who wi ll d evote his tim e to h elp ing the project director d evelop strategies for 1986 and 1987. Bro. Ac hey has brought a new d imension of e nergy and innovation to the task and can boastoflOO percent cooperation from each of the lodges in the region. Every lodge in the area, from Mifflin, Juniata, Perry, Dauphin and Lebanon counties to Cumberland, Franklin, Adams, York and Lancaster counties, reports its SOLOMON II activity quickly and accu rately. II for SOLOMON Ir Stabl er Arena, on the ca mpu s of Lehigh University in Bethle hem, Lehigh County, has b een selected as the s ite for the second rally, o n Wed n esday, O ctober 16, in celebration of the success of Proj ect SOLOMON II, the Rebu ild ing of Freemasonry in Pennsylvania. RALLY II for SOLOMON II wi ll be patterned in part afte r the highly s uccessful first rally attended by more tha n 7,000 p ersons last October at th e Hers h ey Sportsa re na. This time, however, the Grand Master has d ecid ed to use the rally as a fo rum in
which Freemasonry wil l answer h er critics.
