Age Is Not a Barrier to Reaching ObJectives Martha Elizabeth Frazee, a guest at the Masonic Homes at Elizabethtown , believes in setting goals. She established one goal this past winter when she called the Elizabethtown Child Care Center to ask if the children could use some knit caps. The center accepted the offer and 60 days later she called to report that 60 caps were ready. Martha's project came to the attention of the Elizabethtown Chronicle . The photograph that accompanies this article was given to The Pennsylvania Freemason a fter it was publi shed by the newspaper. Martha told the Chronicle reporter that she had been knitting for the past 62 yea rs, having gotten started during World War T by knitting items for the British. Kalweit, a Past Master and Secretary of Nanticoke Lodge No. 541, Nanticoke, has been appointed District Deputy Grand Master for the 12th Masonic District. The appointment was made by Bro . Walter P. Wells, Grand Master , on March 13. · Bro. Kalweit was appointed to till the vacancy caused by the death on fanua ry 19 of Bro. Albert E. Turner. Bro. Turner was a Past Master of Lodge No. 61. Wilkes-Barre. As District Deputy Grand Master for the I 2th Masonic Di strict, Bro. Kalweit assumes the responsibility for Lodge Nos. 61,332,395, 442,474, 531, 541, 655, 72 1 and 763 . became guests at the Masonic Homes in October of 1971 . Bro. Frazee, a member of Johnstown Lodge No. 538, died in March of 1976. There is the temptation in telling Martha's story to point out that the establishing of goals is not just the province of the young; that age is not a barrier to reaching an objective. September 16, Meadville, Pa., Districts 22, 23, 24, 25, 33, 52, 53 and 56. September 30, Pittsburgh, Pa., Districts 32 , 47. 48 , 49 , 51 , 54, 55 and 57 . October 14, New Castle, Pa ., Districts 26, 27, 28, 37 , 38 and 39. October 21, Altoona, Pa. , Districts (catch-up for those not 20, 34, 41 able to attend prior meetings). Using a method of informal instruction with give-and-take periods of questions and answers, the information that is exchanged makes membership in the fraternity more meaningful to all Pennsylvania Freemasons. The education conferences are being coordinated by Bro. John K. Young, R. W. Past Grand Master and chairman of the Grand Lodge Committee on Masonic Culture. Bro . Young reports that each conference is meeting the objectives of the Grand Master's program and that a comprehensive report will be made at the conclusion of the schedule. . It should be noted that Lodge officers unable to attend the conference set for their area are welcome to attend any one of the other conferences.

Library Service Available Pennsylvania Masons are again reminded of the special service provided by the Grand Lodge Committee on M asonic Culture whereby Masonic books may be borrowed from the Grand Lodge circulating library free of charge except for the few cents required for return postage. Members of Pennsylvania Lodges may borrow two books for a three-week period , or longer if circumstances require. A 32-page circulating library brochure, containing the rules, regulations, and listings of more than 250 Masonic titles, will be mailed upon request. Write to the Librarian and Curator, Masonic Temple, One North Broad Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19 107 . Pennsylvania Masons are urged to avail themselves of this unusual service provided by their Grand Lodge .

Lodge Officers Respond to Education Conferences The conferences conducted to date as part of a program designed by the Grand Master to carry out his theme of "Freemasonry Through Education" have been well attended by the officers of the symbolic lodges. The education conferences have done much to explain and promote the program. Bro. Walter P. Wells, R. W. Gt·and Master, has actively participated as have other Grand Lodge officers. Designed to include the Lodge Masters, Wardens, Treasurers, Secretaries and Culture Chairmen, the sessions cover in detail the duties and responsibilities of the respective offices. Several changes have been made in the conference schedule since it was origi nally presented in the February edition of the Pennsylvania Freemason. The changes were requested by the Districts to ease travel distance or secure

required space. The conference scheduled for Bedford on December 9 has been moved to Al toona and will take place on October 21. The October 14 conference will be moved from Butler to New Castle. In

The coupon portions of both trips have been reproduced for this edition to assist those who have not completed their vacation plans. (See page 7 .) The Switzerland tour departing Philadelphia on September 4 has been completely sold out. There is space available on the tour departing Philadelphia on August 14 as well as the tours that depart Pittsburgh and Harrisburg on August 21 and September 4 , respectively.
