Chester Chapter; Order of DeMolay; Awarded All Five Trophies at State Conclave Chester Chapter, Order of DeMolay, Chester, Pa., judged second this year in the International Chapter of the Year competition, has added another first to its long string of accomplishments. Accumulating 913 points out of a possible 920, the Chester Chapter was awarded all five State Championship Trophies at the Annual Conclave of the Associated Chapters, Order of DeMolay of Pennsylvania, held at Harrisburg in June. The five trophies include: The Initiatory Degree Award, presented by Grand Holy Royal Arch Chapter; The DeMolay Degree Award, presented by Grand Commandery, Knights Templar; The Representative DeMolay Award, presented by Grand Council of Royal and Select Master; The Visitations Award, presented by Pennsylvania Council of Deliberation, and the Outstanding Chapter Award, presented by The Right Worshipful Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania.

New Building Programs of Lodges Keeps Our Grand Officers Active • Many Ceremonies Participating tn In the past three months, Grand Lodge h eld special communications to dedicate three new M asonic Lodge Rooms and lay four cornerstones. On Saturday, June 3, a new Masonic Lodge Room was dedicated in Kennett Square, Chester County. The members of Kennett Lodge, No. 475, purchased an existing, stone building and remodeled it to meet Grand Lodge requirements for a Temple. On Thursday, June 15, on one of the hottest days this summer, a cornerstone was placed and the Lodge Room ~::1"··· dedicated at Donora, Washington ~···. ·r~ r-.-r,·~ · County. 1..... \ .. ..... . The Donora Masonic Temple is an ·ri'~ ~ outstanding new Masonic Temple : erected by members of Donora Lodge, - ~· ···· ~· No. 626. · On Saturday, July 15, Grand Lodge was scheduled to conduct an outdoor ceremony to place the cornerstone for the new $1,300,000 Scottish Rite Auditorium at Williamsport. Inclement weather made it necessary to conduct the ceremony indoors. A reception for members and the public followed the ceremony in the Acacia Club. Grand Lodge a nd Scottish Rite officers received the v isitors. On Saturday, August 19, the comerstone was placed a nd the Lodge Room dedicated at Kittanning, Armstrong County. Bro. Robert E. Portage L odge, N o. 220 and Juniata Lodge , No. 282, Holidaysburg, have just about comp leted p r eliminary planning for their joint effort in building a new Lodge H a ll. Pocono Lodge, No. 780 , Swiftwat er, having recently purchased a 13-acre plot of ground a long t he main highway, is presently engaged in a building fund campaign for a n ew M asonic Temple. V a ux Lodge, No. 406, Hamburg, are taking bids for their new Colonial style M asonic Temple, using plan s and specifications furn ished b y Grand Lodge. Ligonier Lodge, N o. 331, Ligonier, are a bout to sell the building they now own and move into new quarters being improved and ren ovated for them at a very a ttractive rent a l. Clearfield Lodge, No. 3 14, Clearfield, h ave the authorization of t he R . W. Grand Mast er to acquire a n excellent plot of ground on t he outskirts of their city and soon hope to b reak ground for a new Mason ic Hall. St. J a m es L odge, No. 457, B ea ver, is presently in the p lann ing stage for making renovations a nd imp rov emen ts to their presen t facilities.

The Annual 'Guest Fund' The Grand M aster has urged P ennsy lvania Masons to continue their generous contributions to the Guest Fund for the Masonic Homes at Elizabethtown. In a letter to be included in all September Lodge Notices Bro. Robert E. D eyoe, R. W. Grand Master, said: "As we approach the Holy Season, it is my sincere prayer that M asons everywhere will be blessed with health, happiness and prosperity. "Further, this is my last opportunity as Grand Master to suggest that you add even greater riches to your life by sharing your blessings with our Guests at the Masonic H o mes at Elizabethtown. "I join with nearly 800 Guests at t h e Masonic Homes t o sincerely thank you for the recor d $278,000 received in the Guest Fund last year- a five per cent increase over the previous year." In an effort to inform Pennsylvania M ason s how the Guest Fund is used to benefit Guests, Bro. D eyoe lists the following expenditures during t he past y ear: • $25,000 for the Occupational Therapy Program. This program provides the instructors and materials for Guests to occupy their time with creative projects, such as leather and metal crafts, painting, jewelry crafts and many others. • $70,000 for Guests' spending money. Each Guest is given $10 a month to use as he or she desires. This is the money used by our Guests for little pleasures not necessarily provided by the Homes. • $20,000 for Guests' personal needs, such as new glasses and repairs, hearing aids and supplies, dry cleaning, watch repair, new razors and razor repairs, writing paper and tobacco. • $14,000 to fully equip a barber and beauty shop to meet the daily needs of the Guests. • $60,000 for Holiday Gifts. This includes Christmas presents and activities, Easter treats and other holiday surprises. • $36,000 for special entertainments such as bus trips and rides, movies and parties. • $5,000 to compensate visiting ministers to conduct yearround religious services, such as Sunday services in the Sell Chapel, weekly prayer meetngs, visits to those confined to the hospital, and burial services. • $20,000 for expenditures such as extra clothing, televisions and television repairs, summer camping for children at the Masonic Homes, and other related projects. The Bro. George Washington at P rayer Statue will be dedicated at 3 p.m., Saturday, September 9, a t Freedoms Foundation, Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. Bro. Robert E. Deyoe, R . W. Grand Master, has urged Masons and the ir families to make a special effort to attend this important dedication. He said: ''This is our opportunity as Masons to m eet at a public ceremony to show our dedication to the ideals of freedom as inaugurated by the Father of Our Country." Following the dedication, a special banquet will be held a t 5: 15 p.m. Only those who have purchased tickets in advance may attend the banquet. The banquet will be served in a huge circus tent that will be erected on the grounds of Freed om s Foundation. Those attending the dedication in buses will be provided special parking facilities n ear the site of the st a tue. Instruction s will be provided as the buses approach the a r ea of Freedoms Foundation. Private a utomobiles will be parked in an ar ea to the r ear of the V alley Forge Post Office, a short distance from t h e statue. A sufficient number of police will be available in the a r ea of Freedoms F oundation to provide proper parking instructions and assist a nce. T he Committee requests that each bus have a captain appointed to distribute numbers to passengers in order tha t proper loading can be facilita ted following t h e dedication. W orshipful M ast ers a nd W ardens of Masonic Lodges who desire t o join the Grand M ast e r in the processiona l should be in M asonic dress, including collar a nd apron and glove,l'. N o top h a ts will be a uthor ized except for the Grand M aster. Officers ' of other M asonic Bodies, including York Rite, Scottish Rite and Shrine, should be d ressed in the official d ress of their r espective Bodies if they expect to b e included in the processional. Directional m a p s h ave been provided to Secret a ries of all L odges in P ennsylvania.

In gen e ral, those attending the d edication should p roceed west on Route 23 after leaving the V a lley Forge Exit No. 24 of the P ennsylvania Turnpike, continuing through Valley Forge P ark to the a rea of Freed oms Foundation w here further instructions w ill be provided. The G ene ra l D edication Committee has estim ated tha t the progra m will take approximately one and a ha lf hours. All activities will be concluded before d ark t o facilitate traffic flow from the a rea.
