GRADE 5 DISTINCTION
FOR EVERY STUDENT!
PQA Cambridge is thrilled to announce that every single one of our students that took part in The Lazy Ace, received a GRADE 5 DISTINCTION in Musical Theatre from TRINITY COLLEGE LONDON for their incredible performance!
TRINITY COLLEGE LONDON is an internationally acclaimed examining body which conducts performing arts exams all around the world, with grades counting towards UCAS - The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service. Our students can now take this certificate with them, and include it on CVs for the rest of their lives.
Our examiner loved the production, which all students took part in on 2nd April (see page 3), commenting particularly on the “high quality performances from all students”, and the “confident use of the space”.
Distinction is the highest achievable pass and is a huge testament to the excellent work and performances that our students gave on the night. As part of membership to PQA,
we offer every one of our students Trinity College London exams every year, at no extra charge. These exams are taken at different grades each year, based on the age and experience of our students. Because we were fortunate enough to perform something as a whole academy, including ages 6 to 18, we were able to enter all students at Grade 5, which is an incredible (and ambitious) accomplishment! We are so proud of every one of our students and can’t wait to do more next year!

WHO WE ARE PQA Cambridge is a performing arts academy for ages 6-18 in the centre of Cambridge. We have two sessions, AM and PM, which run from 10am-1pm, and 2pm-5pm on Saturdays. We have been operating for 8 years in Cambridge, and we pride ourselves in offering young people around Cambridge the best opportunities in the performing arts. Our ethos is “Be Yourself, Be Amazing” and we believe this to the core. Everyone is unique, and we make it our mission to bring out the amazing in every child we teach. VUE CINEMA CAMBRIDGE
On Saturday 10th December 2017, our students will enjoy the Red Carpet Treatment and watch their very own movies on the big screen! From the beginning of the Summer Term, our students will be writing, planning, directing, and starring in their own movies which will make their way to VUE Cinema in Cambridge this December! We will be tirelessly making the best movies we have ever made, with our excellent Head of Film & TV.
students will be involved with every aspect, from pre production, all the way to the editing at the end.
We are so excited to be able to offer this to our students, and cannot wait to show them their own films at the same cinema which shows the latest blockbusters!

On Saturday 24th June, PQA Cambridge invites students to BRING A FRIEND TO PQA!
PERFORMS ON A WEST END STAGE!
BAFTA (Bring A Friend To the Academy) is an exciting opportunity for our students to bring their friends along for the morning, completely free of charge, to see what all the fuss is about! Invitations will be sent out this term to our current students, and a prize draw for those who bring a buddy!

ON SUNDAY 2ND APRIL, ALL STUDENTS FROM PQA CAMBRIDGE PERFORMED AT HER MAJESTY’S THEATRE IN LONDON’S VERY OWN WEST END!
To mark Mikey’s 5 Year anniversary as Principal of PQA Cambridge, all students were invited to perform at Her Majesty’s Theatre along with PQA Bath and PQA Tees Valley!

The performance is called ‘The Lazy Ace’, a playful musical based in Las Vegas, detective Chip Buddy (Tom Harding) is on the trail of The Lazy Ace, and searches for him at Jakey Ground’s (Tom Quine) Casino - the Sneaky Slammer. All the students did an incredible job, earning themselves Grade 5 Distinctions in Musical Theatre from Trinity College London! (See cover story) The success of the show was hugely down to the incredible work of the PQA Cambridge team:
the amazing choreography of Katie Faye, our Head of Musical Theatre; Gemma Perry - our Musical Director; and the pure genius direction of the ever amazing Nick Banks - Head of Drama. It is also worth saying a big well done to Isobel Carroll, our Musical Theatre assistant, who also choreographed some of the musical numbers herself; and Holly Temple, our Green Group academy assistant.
