Dear PCRC Community, GRATITUDE. It is defined as “the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.” At the Pottstown Cluster of Religious Communities (PCRC), it is with a deep and abiding sense of gratitude we present this Report as a public acknowledgment of your kindness, and in appreciation for your continued support for the work we do together to improve the overall quality of life for individuals and families in our region. We firmly believe our community is strongest when the most vulnerable among us are treated with dignity and respect. Our neighborhoods thrive for everyone when all are fed, securely sheltered, and have access to educational resources. Your partnership — making our endeavors, goals, and mission a reality — is what we value most and for what we are most grateful. The Annual Report of Gratitude highlights the ways in 2018 PCRC focused on: • Exploring and/or implementing new programming and partnerships; • Expanding our physical campus; • Bringing government officials and our community together to discuss and debate real-world challenges; • Recognizing those who go above and beyond in service to our work; • New and improved ways to communicate our endeavors — all for the purpose of serving our neighbors in the greater Pottstown area in our mission to provide tangible services, support, and spiritual guidance to address our clients’ basic needs. You will also learn the impact our efforts — together — have yielded. We are Grateful to our Leaders PCRC’s Board of Directors take an active role in oversight of the organization. Along with their regular meetings and work, they participated in a Day of Clarity in the spring of 2018, facilitated by Laura Otten, PhD, Executive Director of the Nonprofit Center at LaSalle University’s School of Business. Work from that day led to greater opportunities for the strategic work of the Board for the next few years. We are Grateful to our Supporters and Volunteers Our progress could not happen without the consistent and generous support of this community. Our faithful individual, business, and worship center supporters are the backbone of our work. The hundreds of volunteers who provided more than sixteen thousand hours of their time in 2018 made the success of our programs possible. PCRC appreciates the opportunity to witness the grace and kindness of this community as we work together to help our neighbors. With all of these blessings, there is still more work to be done and challenges to face, so it is our hope we can count on your continued support. We humbly thank you and are forever GRATEFUL.

Who We
Serve
PCRC serves individuals and families living in the greater Pottstown area primarily; we also serve residents across Montgomery County for housing stability services. 36% of clients are children under the age of 18 59% are adults 5% are adults age 65 and older
Impact
of our Services
In 2018, PCRC served an average of 470 households with groceries and 1,249 prepared meals, distributing 419,627 pounds of food locally and 152,308 pounds to partner agencies in Montgomery County. Through an eviction prevention pilot program, we provided services to 81 households, resolving 85% of those evictions. Twelve series of UP3 workshops have been held to date, with 89 graduates; 100% of most recent graduates surveyed report experiencing a greater knowledge on how to improve their stability.

FOOD SECURITY — assuring access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food that meets dietary needs and food preferences for an active, healthy life. HOUSING STABILITY — PCRC provides case management and support in finding safe, affordable, housing for individuals and families facing homelessness or possible eviction. SUPPORTIVE SERVICES and EDUCATION — provides referrals, education, and support to help individuals and families improve overall stability.

U.S. Senator Casey and Commissioner Arkoosh Hold SNAP Benefits Roundtable at PCRC On June 25, 2018, U.S. Senator Bob Casey, Jr., and Dr. Val Arkoosh, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, along with Renee Gorski, Patrick Druhan, and PCRC’s Executive Director Barbara Wilhelmy and staff member Danielle Gadsden, participated in a SNAP Benefits Roundtable Panel Discussion held at PCRC. PCRC Receives $5,000 Grant from the TD Charitable Foundation PCRC was awarded a grant from the TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank®. This is a new partner for PCRC. The grant supported the Eviction Prevention and Intervention Coalition (EPIC) pilot project designed to stabilize vulnerable families and individuals who are facing eviction by providing them with legal and social services support. The project included case management services, carried out by PCRC, to prevent eviction in the short term and to connect the household to community supports necessary to maintain long term housing stability. PCRC supported the program with a Housing Stability Coach working in conjunction with legal representation on-site at the Magisterial District Court in Norristown, PA.

“61” Moves Toward Occupancy
In 2018, the PCRC community worked tirelessly to ready its new administrative and educational building for occupancy, so that programming can be expanded. “We are trying to return this house as close as it can be returned to its original glory, while at the same time providing much needed office and educational space for PCRC,” offered Frank Cebular, “61” volunteer and former Board member. Most of the construction and cosmetic work is completed, and we are now working with the borough to make sure the building is in compliance and can be occupied soon. Stay tuned! Updates and Accomplishments continued
PCRC Institutes New Awards in 2018 PCRC instituted two new awards at its most recent fall fundraising event, You Gotta Have Heart — the “Helping Hands with Heart” award, that honors a dedicated PCRC donor/volunteer who embodies PCRC’s mission; and the “Cluster Community” award, honoring someone in the community/wider community who has furthered PCRC’s mission and made an impact through his or her involvement with PCRC. The 2018 recipients were former Board member and super volunteer Frank Cebular, and PA Attorney General Josh Shapiro, (accepted by Anthony Luker, Education and Outreach Specialist with the PA Office of the Attorney General).
