No Birds in Sight: Wealth Distribution as the Root Cause

INTRODUCTION It might not be immediately apparent, but many of the more pressing issues of today can be traced back to one single problem. It has grown over the past months, years and decades; a single stem that has wrapped around the metaphorical tree of human life and long since evolved into a vine. Here it climbs over branches of justice, there it suffocates the flowers of community, and constantly it reaches new heights for the tree to tilt even lower. This vine is present in the backdrop of today's headlines concerning overpopulation, it is the reason for the prevalence of social inequity throughout all nations today, and plays a considerable part in the alarmingly global scale of unemployment. Its name: unjust distribution of wealth. In this essay, the relationship between other looming contemporary issues - such as overpopulation, receding resources, unemployment - and their common root cause, will be identified.
