Welcome aboard Anything Goes!

We’re setting sail on a voyage of laughter, romance, and high-stepping spectacle. With Cole Porter’s unforgettable music, sharp wit, and a cast of colorful characters, this show has been charming audiences for generations. Tonight, it’s our turn to bring that joy to life on the Portland Players stage.

What makes Anything Goes such a treasure is its spirit of adventure. Mistaken identities, outrageous schemes, and tap-dancing sailors remind us that sometimes the best journeys are the ones filled with a little chaos and a lot of fun.

This production wouldn’t be possible without the incredible dedication of our volunteers—on stage, backstage, and behind the scenes. Their passion is the wind in our sails, and we’re deeply grateful for the creativity and heart they bring to every performance.

And to you, our audience: thank you for climbing aboard. Your support keeps this theater thriving and ensures that community theater continues to be a place where laughter, music, and connection take center stage.

DIRECTOR’S NOTE

Welcomeaboard the SS American and Portland Player’s production of Anything Goes! This has been a truly remarkable experience working with so many talented actors and members of the production team from across the community. From the costumes and staging to choreography and music, everything that you see is a result of the collaborative effort of all involved. Thank you to everyone! If I could thank one person, though, it would have to be my mother. In the 1970s she brought me to see the original Annie on Broadway and I had my “I can do that” moment. Noticing my interest and soon after, she brought me to a community theater audition, where my life in the theater began. After a hiatus as an athlete, I started ballet lessons, interestingly, as a senior in college. Upon graduation I had the opportunity to take more intensive ballet training. It was a sort of a crossroads in my life. I went to my mom for advice and said something like “Hey mom I’m really interested in learning ballet. But I also have a degree and could start working. What do you think?” Instead of telling me that I needed to be a responsible adult and go get a job, being the artist that she was she encouraged me to keep going in dance and even helped pay for some of the lessons. The rest is history. So a huge thank you to all those who help others follow and live their dreams! Bon voyage!!

Alex Bourgon (Dippy) Alex is ever so happy to be back at Portland Players for his third show! He was last seen on stage here as the Candlemaker and an enchanted champagne bottle in Beauty and the Beast, and Brother Maynard in Spamalot before that. He has also been seen down the street at Lyric Music Theatre in recent productions of Something Rotten, The SpongeBob Musical, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, to name a few. Alex would like to thank the cast and crew for a wonderful experience, as well as his family, and partner Hollie for their continued support. Enjoy the show!

Alexis Perry (Passenger) This is my first show with the Portland Players and I am thankful to be a part of this uniquely talented group of artists. It brings me such joy to be among a cast and crew teeming with passion and kindness.

Andrew Goodwin (Rev. Henry T. Dobson, Passenger) Andrew is excited to be in another Portland Player’s show! He is thankful to Glenn, Alyssa, Rebecca, and Cami for casting him in this perfectly De-lovely show. Past Portland Player’s shows Andrew has been in were: Beauty and the Beast, Monty Python’s Spamalot, The Full Monty, and Camelot. Remember if you are stressed, “there’s no cure like travel.” Enjoy the show.

Bernie Horowitz (Elisha J. Whitney) Bernie is delighted to join this hilarious show as the bulldogobsessed “goggle-eyed tycoon” Eli Whitney – yet another in a run of dotty old men who don’t see well, which began with Erronius in a long-ago Freeport Community Players production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and continued on to the Blind Hermit in Lyric Theater’s 2024 Young Frankenstein. Bernie also played Mama in Portland Players’ 2023 Dogfight and Shot-Put the Unicorn in the 2023 Maine Playwrights Festival, and sings with the Portland group Renaissance Voices. She lives in the heart of Deering with a clowder of cats and a very patient spouse.

Briana Lacy (Chastity) Briana is excited to return to the Portland Players stage. Previous credits at Portland Players include Legally Blonde (Gaelen/Judge), Reefer Madness (ensemble), Cabaret (Rosie), Mamma Mia (ensemble/dance captain) and Rock of Ages (dancer). Other favorites include Holiday Inn (Daphne), Oklahoma (Gertie), The Rocky Horror Show (Columbia), The Drowsy Chaperone (Janet Van De Graaff), and Disenchanted (Mulan) at City Theater and Curtains (ensemble), Young Frankenstein (ensemble/ featured dancer), and Something Rotten (Bard Babe/Tap Dancing Egg) at Lyric Music Theater. As always, she would like to thank her family, friends, and husband for all of their love and support. Enjoy the show!

Caitlyn Becker (Passenger) Caitlyn is thrilled to be on stage at Portland Players! Last year, the Portland native re-entered the musical theater world with Lyric Music Theater’s A Christmas Carol. When she isn’t performing, Caitlyn enjoys gardening and baking cookies for her community. She would like to thank her friends and family for all of their love and support. Enjoy the show!

Camilla Rosenfeld (Passenger)

Camilla is so excited to be in her second show at Portland Players! You may have last seen her on this stage as Florinda in Into the Woods, or a few minutes away at Lyric Music Theater as Portia in Something Rotten and a tap-dancing fish in SpongeBob the Musical. Some of her previous theater credits outside of the Southern Maine musical theater scene include Catherine in Pippin, a minstrel/ ensemble member in Spamalot, Gertrude in Seussical, and Maud Dunlop in The Music Man. Outside of the theater, you’ll find her poring over any book written by Ursula K. Le Guin and doing a bit of her own writing when she has the chance (don’t worry, she has a day job).

Casper Madarasz (Sailor) Casper Madarasz has been acting, singing and dancing on stage since he was a young child. He is excited for his first show with Portland Players and happy to get to tap on stage for the first time since 2017. He was most recently seen as Noel in Ride the Cyclone at MCP and

dancing in Grania with VividMotion. He is excited for everyone to come aboard for this rendition of Anything Goes!

Colleen Katana (Hope Harcourt) Colleen is thrilled to have her sealegs back at Portland Players with this talented cast and crew! A romance novelist by day, it’s a nice change to be out from behind her laptop and interacting with real people (not the characters in her head). She’s been acting professionally most of her life and has been on stages all over the country. You might remember seeing her here at Portland Players in Reefer Madness as Sally or in Camelot as Guenever. Other favorite roles: Charity (Sweet Charity), Laurey (Oklahoma!), Linda (Holiday Inn), Roxie Hart (Chicago), Inga (Young Frankenstein), Donna (Mamma Mia). Regional: Kim (Showboat), Rosie (Sweet Charity). Broadway, OffBroadway, & Tours: Legally Blonde, Spoon River, Cinderella (Cinderella); Journeys (televised performance at the Kennedy Center). Lots of lurve to Sean for enduring a summer alone while I was in rehearsals!

Cristia Whitehouse (Sailor) Cristia Whitehouse lives in Portland, Maine and enjoys baking, dancing, and true crime. She has been involved in the Portland theatre community for several years, having appeared in productions at Portland Players, Lyric Music Theater, and Maine State Ballet. You may have seen her most

recently as Neleus in Mary Poppins at Portland Players. She hopes you enjoy her crew of jaunty sailors in this production of Anything Goes

David Aaron Van Duyne (Billy Crocker) David is thrilled to be playing Billy in this production of Anything Goes and to be back on the Players stage for the first time since Dogfight in 2022. This has been a dream role of his since he was a young lad. You may have seen David in previous shows here at Players like Rock of Ages (Stacey Jaxx), or Les Miserables (Marius), or Jesus Christ Superstar (Jesus). Or most recently as Jud Fry in Oklahoma! at City Theater. He would like to thank the entire production team and cast for making this such a fun experience, and his wife, Jess, for her constant support. This one’s for Jo.

Ellie Joseph (Erma) Ellie Joseph is thrilled to be back on the Portland Players Stage! Her previous credits include: Legally Blonde (Serena), Mary Poppins (Mary Poppins), Dogfight (Marcy), and Cabaret (Sally Bowles). She received her BFA in Musical Theatre from Marymount Manhattan College (’21) and currently teaches vocal and theatre arts at Biddeford High School. She would like to thank her partner Madison for being the best theatre wife ever!

Emily Coyne (Passenger) Emily is thrilled (and mildly shocked) to be on stage tonight. Immense thanks go to her husband Rich and

daughters, Shelby and Maya. When not rehearsing, Emily can usually be found overthinking her garden layout, searching for treasure at the beach, or pretending to be a forest guardian. This experience has been a reminder that a lot of fun can happen just outside our comfort zones and there are genuinely kind, hilarious people waiting to welcome and encourage you- thank you Portland Players!!

Emma Tompkins (Charity) Emma is super excited to set sail on this new show! She is a local performing artist her most recent roles include Chutney in Legally Blonde, Miss Lark in Mary Poppins, Tina Taylor in the world premier of Inside Man, Young Eva in And Then They Came For Me, Jordan Baker in The Great Gatsby, and A Laker Girl in Spamalot. When not acting and dancing Emma is a choreographer with theaters around Maine. Her latest creations include A Christmas Carol, Spongebob the Musical, Something Rotten and Next to Normal at Lyric Music Theater. Emma is also a board member with Portland Players.

Erika Richardson (Serenity) Erika is thrilled to be taking part in her second production with The Portland Players. For her freshman production with the company, she played Helga in Cabaret. Erika is a Portland transplant who grew up in Vermont. She developed a love for the stage back in high school and at Guilford College where she received a minor in Theatre.

Jeffrey Servetas (The Purser) Jeff is greatly appreciative to have the opportunity to be part of Anything Goes! Previous roles on stage at Players include Jack/Jesus in Reefer Madness and Herr Shultz in Cabaret Other local roles include Clown 1 in The 39 Steps (Out There Theater Company) and Robbie Hart in The Wedding Singer (Schoolhouse Arts Center). When he’s not trying to keep everything ship shape on stage, Jeff works in software at Idexx Laboratories in Westbrook, and snuggles pets in his spare time. He’d like to thank the production team and his fellow cast/crew for their hard work on the show, his girlfriend Summer for coming along on this adventure with him, and especially you, for coming to see the show!

Joe Tinianow (Sailor) Joseph is excited to be onboard another Portland Players production! You may have seen him on this stage before in Beauty and the Beast (Ensemble), Legally Blonde (Winthrop), or Into the Woods (Baker). He has also been onstage at Lyric Music Theater, Biddeford City Theater, and Lewiston/ Auburn Community Little Theater. He would like to say to all his friends: “Sailor?” You know the rest.

Jude Leaver (Sailor) Jude is happy to be back performing at Portland Players. He was last seen as Perch Perkins in SpongeBob at Lyric Theater. You may have seen him as Carlos in Legally Blonde, Ziggy in Young Frankenstein, or in Beauty and

Karen Stickney (Mrs. Harcourt)

Karen is delighted to be working with this great cast. She is a musical theater performer and classical singer who has performed in many shows, concerts and commercials. She’s been the featured soloist with the Portland Symphony Orchestra for a number of concerts, including, “The Magic of Christmas” and has been involved with the “Best of Broadway” concert series to benefit the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital. Some of her favorite stage antics include: splits, cartwheels, back walkovers off of tables, taking showers and dancing in point shoes. All while singing.

Kathryn Kellogg (Reno Sweeney)

Kathryn is thrilled to be aboard the SS American! Most recently she played a Tap Dancing Egg in Something Rotten (what a dream!), but you may have also caught her around the area as Lila Dixon in Holiday Inn, Angie in The Prom, and Janet Van De Graaf in The Drowsy Chaperone. Some of her favorite roles include Elizabeth Benning in Young Frankenstein, Georgia Hendricks in Curtains, Judy Haynes in White Christmas, Louise / Gypsy Rose Lee in Gypsy, Katherine in The Taming, and Viola in Twelfth Night. A big thanks to her friends, family, and this wonderful cast and crew!

Kelly Mosher (Virtue) Kelly is excited to be in this production of Anything Goes. Recent past roles on the Players stage that you may recognize her from are The Baker’s Wife in Into The Woods, Belle in Beauty and the Beast and Rose in Dogfight as well as many other roles/ shows here and at the other wonderful theaters in the area. She would like to send thanks to her family for their endless love, her Sebago Brewing crew for all their support, this incredible cast and team especially Glenn, Rebecca, Alyssa and Allison for letting her inner dancer shine!

Lexi Bartlett (Passenger) Lexi is so excited to return to the Portland Player’s stage! You may have previously seen her here in 2023 in Beauty and the Beast, or down the road at Lyric Music theatre in 2024 in A Christmas Carol & Young Frankenstein. When not participating in local theatre, Lexi can be found singing with The Pine State Pitches; a Portland-area a cappella group that formed in 2021. Enjoy the show & bon voyage!

Logan Merrithew (Spit) Logan is thrilled to be setting sail aboard the Portland Players stage once more! A Saco native, Logan previously anchored at port in The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe (Fenris Ulf) and Legally Blonde: The Musical (Aaron Schultz, Grandmaster Chad). When he’s not onstage, who knows

what Logan gets up to? He’d like to thank his landlubber friends and family, and his cruise director wife, Allison, for their continued love and support.

Luke Perry (The Captain) is thrilled to be returning to the Portland Players’ stage. He has recently played Centaur in The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, Lancelot in Spamalot, Jerry Lukowski in The Full Monty, and Benjamin “Benny” Coffin III in Rent. Originally from Clifton, Maine, Luke has been performing off-and-on at the Portland Players since 2010. He would like to thank Glenn, Rebecca, and the whole cast, pit, and crew that made this show possible. A special thank you to Brittany for all her support and putting up with all the late rehearsals. Marie Jacques (Purity) Marie is very excited to make her debut with Portland Players as Purity in Anything Goes. She grew up immersed in theater and is now returning to the stage for the first time as an adult!

Marie is a local elementary music teacher and enjoys helping young students discover and explore music. She would like to thank her family for all their love and support.

Miranda Harrison (Ensemble Swing) Buoy, is Miranda thrilled to be making her debut at Portland Players!! Recently you may have seen her as Asher/Wailing Wife in Joseph and

the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Ensemble in Young Frankenstein at Lyric Music Theatre or as Sister Mary Leo in Nunsense at City Theatre in Biddeford. She moved to Maine from Louisville Kentucky and by day works as a primary care provider for Maine Health. She hopes you enjoy the show!!

Owen White (Moonface Martin) is delighted to be back on the stage here for just his second full-scale production, having previously been in the ensemble of All Shook Up. This is also not his first time aboard the S.S. American, he played the Purser in Lyric Music Theater’s production of Anything Goes in 2013. When not performing for humans, Owen can be found singing to dogs. He would like to thank the entire cast and crew for their tremendous effort in keeping this ship afloat and you, the audience, for coming aboard and supporting local theater.

Sean Sova (Lord Evelyn Oakleigh) Sean is so excited to be making his return to the Portland Players stage! Some of his recent roles include Venti in Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Rock Experience (Maddy’s Theater), Warner Huntington III in Legally Blonde (Portland Players), and Adult Ensemble in The Prom (Lyric Music Theater). Back in 2018, he actually played Evelyn Oakleigh in a different production of Anything Goes, so revisiting this role has been a dream

for him! Outside of performing, Sean works at Longfellow Elementary School, along with directing at Cheverus High School and STAGES Youth Theater. He wants to thank everyone on the production team for all their hard work in bringing this show to life and he hopes everyone enjoys the show!

Summer Bishop (Destiny) Summer (she/her) is positively overjoyed to return to the Portland Players stage! Some favorite previous shows include Legally Blonde, Beauty and the Beast, and Spamalot here at Portland Players, Something Rotten and Young Frankenstein at Lyric Music Theater, and The Play That Goes Wrong at Schoolhouse Arts Center. Outside of the show, she can either be found working at a restaurant or at a vet clinic, or cuddling with her herd of pets at home.
