Trading Hours Club Daily 9:00am until late Courtesy Bus (See website for Western and Eastern timetables) Welcome all members and guests to another edition of the Port City Bowling Club’s “Pulse” magazine. No sooner has Xmas come and gone and its Easter. The Club will hold its annual Easter Egg Raffle with $2,000 worth of eggs to won. Bowls Coordinator, Phil Baker has also put together a weekend of bowls events catering for both men and women. The Easter Bowls Carnival is always popular with bowling members and visiting members. From the 1st of May our Membership Renewals begin. This can be done at the Club or the Club now offers an online renewals service. Memberships have increased this year with a 1 year membership now $12 and 3 year membership $30 both still great value. Also in May we celebrate Mother’s Day. Head Chef Andy Whitehead and his team will be providing a number of specials to help you show how much our “mums” mean to us. Given the growing popularity of Drift Café.Bar.Restaurant I’m sure members and guests will enjoy the autumn / winter season delights Andy and his team create. On the community front the Club wishes staff member Claudia Buckby all the best as she treks to the Base Camp at Mt Everest. This is Claudia’s 2nd mountain after climbing Kilimanjaro 2 years ago. Claudia and the Everest team have raised over $46,000 so far for our staff charity recipient YP Space. YP Space provides emergency accommodation for Port Macquarie children. The club also recently hosted a charity bowls day for Sailability. This organisation allows the disabled to enjoy the fun of sailing in Port Macquarie. Over 130 people attended the day resulting in $5,387.20 being raised to support this worth while cause. The board is investigating Stage 2 of our current Development Application which will extend the Drift Café kitchen and provide an alfresco dining and seating area adjacent to the café. As always there are exciting opportunities ahead for the Club and our members. Hope to see you at the Club.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WITH THE CLUB? WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT WORKING AT PORT CITY? I have been working at the Club for 5 ½ years. I love my role as Functions Co-ordinator, definitely a role I wish I had considered earlier in my working life, somehow life has bought me to Port City and I have grown not only in my working life but as a member of the community as well. I think the most I enjoy about working at the Club apart from my work mates is that I meet people from many different walks of life, whether it’s organising a couple’s wedding reception, a birthday party, memorial or Christmas parties. I enjoy the creative side of organising an event. I love learning and improving at my position everyday. IF YOU HAD SIX MONTHS WITH NO OBLIGATIONS OR FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS, WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH THE TIME? I would definitely go back to Scotland and live there for the six months. I’m very proud of my Celtic Heritage and have strong connections to Scotland & Ireland. I know this sounds a little crazy... but I actually feel like I’m home when visiting there. WHAT DO YOU WORK TOWARDS IN YOUR FREE TIME? My free time is always spent with my partner and my family. We have a blended family,
together we have 6 adult children and 6 grandchildren. Our grandchildren are our absolute delights. When we are all together it’s very loud, funny and crazy busy, but somehow it all works. IF YOU WERE TALKING TO SOMEONE VISITING PORT MACQUARIE FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME, WHERE YOU WOULD YOU TELL THEM TO VISIT AND WHAT WOULD YOUTELL THEM ABOUT THE CLUB? I love living in Port Macquarie so talking to visitors & promoting this area is a very natural thing for me to do, I do it daily in my role as Functions Co-Ordinator. Port Macquarie has so many lovely beaches, walk ways, art galleries and a great historical museum. Of course I would mention Port City Bowling Club that just goes without saying, in particular I would recommend Drift Café, Bar & Restaurant. Drift has a lot to offer visitors & members that visit our Club, to me it’s the restaurant that continually strives to provide a pleasant dining experience from the kitchen staff to the management team, and they are very well trained in their areas & a great bunch to work with. Drift in the evening as the sun is setting is just lovely, combine this with beautiful food and happy, friendly staff…. In my eyes …… it’s a winner. I know this sounds like an ad for Drift, however it’s what I say daily with genuine pride.
