Discover New Collectibles During Third-Annual Mattel Creations Revealed Event
Mattel Creations will bring back its Revealed livestream for a third year.
Taking place on March 19, this year’s event will feature reveals from brands including Barbie, Hot Wheels, Masters of the Universe, Monster High, UNO, and WWE.

“With KPop Demon Hunters Netflix has demonstrated how niche fandoms can drive a title to viral, mainstream success and how we can quickly reach every corner of the globe,” says Tanya Isler, senior director of con sumer products for UCAN at Netflix.
Netflix says KPop Demon Hunters its most popular film ever. By the end of August, just two months after release, the film garnered more than 236 million views on the platform. That same week end, it broke the distributor’s record. The film also soared to No. 1 at the box office with KPop Demon Hunters Sing-Along the first sing-along release for a Netflix film, which sold out 1,300 screenings across three continents.
The soundtrack generated more than 3 billion global streams to date, featuring songs performed by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, Rei Ami, Andrew Choi, Danny Chung, Kevin Woo, samUIL Lee, Neckwav, and Lea Salonga. It became the first soundtrack to land four Top 10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously.
At the time of publication, the film was named Time’s Breakthrough of the Year; received five Grammy nominations, including Song of the Year for “Golden”; and won two Golden Globe Awards.

THE DEMAND FOR MERCH WENT UP, UP, UP
The rise of KPop Demon Hunters was meteoric, and much of the film’s merchandise, from food to fashion, is only beginning to arrive on shelves. “Fans want KPop Demon Hunters in every part of their lives,” Isler notes. “We’re excited to continue fueling the fandom with a thoughtful consumer products program that speaks to what fans love the most about KPop Demon Hunters — the music, the food, the fashions, and the compelling characters and story.”
But for fans, records and nominations aren’t enough. Hunters, as the film’s fans are called, want something tangible — vinyl, apparel, collectibles, and more — to

At-home DJs can enjoy the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack from Republic Records. The company offers multiple variants, including a smokey fuchsia vinyl ($32.99), an animal-themed set with glowin-the-dark vinyl ($37.99), and a picture disc ($35.99). Alternatively, the family can sing along at home with Yoto, which offers the soundtrack on its miniplayer ($14.99). “As soon as [the film] launched on Netflix, people were listening to the music all over the world,” says Yoto’s Head of Music & Sound Dom Hodge, who listens to the soundtrack in the car and at home with his 5-year-old daughter. “I’m not sure anyone knew how massive it would be.”
Yoto collaborated closely with Universal Music to develop the card, which is based on a standard album format and features the film’s songs in the same order they appear to the viewers. While many of Yoto’s products are intended for kids ages 2 and up, the content is often suitable for kids ages 4-7. For families, the Yoto card offers an opportunity for older kids to bond with younger siblings. “We are very keen to make sure that we
offer stuff, particularly music, to grow with kids,” says Hodge, whose young daughter uses the card with her 10-yearold cousin. “You can bridge microgenerations,” he adds.
For many fans, the devotion doesn’t stop at sound — it shows up on shelves and in closets, too.
Fashionistas can display “What It Sounds Like” ($150), a three-pack of fully articulated fashion dolls arriving this fall from Mattel Creations. The highly detailed dolls don the white and gold outfits from the film’s finale, along with the characters’ signature weapons.
“We are inspired by KPop Demon Hunters’ incredible global resonance and the passion of its fans around the world,” says Mattel’s Senior Vice President of Entertainment Partnerships Nick Karamanos. “This is the fastest deal Mattel has ever brought to life.”
Fans interested in HUNTR/X and Saja Boys (the film’s other K-pop group) can start with Funko’s line of iconic Pop! figures, which retail for $14.99 each; or collect Youtooz’ limited-edition figures, which ship later this year.
Fans can dress themselves in looks inspired by the film, with help from Bioworld, which offers highly detailed clothing and accessories. They can snag Zoey’s yellow bucket hat ($18.99), worn when she sees the Saja Boys for the first time, the traditional black Gat hat the Saja Boys wear while performing “Your Idol” ($52.99), Mira’s polar bear fleece sweatshirt ($54.95), and Rumi’s Choo Choo Pajama Pants ($56.95). “KPop Demon Hunters is a lightning-in-a-bottle moment,” says Bioworld’s Head of Product Maureen Guckeyson.
Bioworld tackled its immersive collection from several angles, and according to Guckeyson, started by sourcing ideas from their own team members who were already fans of the film, including a designer who cosplays in her free time and could accurately replicate the film’s costumes. Some items, such as branded fleece, pins, and tote bags, were no-brainers, but Bioworld is also mindful of today’s trends, offering inspired over-

Fans can even eat like HUNTR/X. The trio is known for carb-loading before their performances, relaxing with mountains of kimbap, and slurping down ramyun in the film. A collaboration from Nongshim, which celebrated a release of Shin Ramyun last fall in Times Square, brings Hunters closer than ever to living like K-pop idols through chewy noodles ($4.49 each), shrimp crackers, and Shin Toomba Sauce.
FROM MINHWA TO MODERN DAY
The breakout stars of KPop Demon Hunters weren’t Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, but the film’s animal companions, a six-eyed magpie and a blue tiger. Both animals accompany Jinu and appear to Rumi as messengers.
In Korean culture and history, both animals are significant. Tigers have long been associated with the Korean peninsula, and they appear in the nation’s founding myth, dating back to 2333 B.C. Unable to become human, the tiger is considered particularly special in the animal kingdom. In folklore, a tiger known as Haetae is the guardian of justice, making the tiger’s fade into a city statue particularly symbolic in the film. In Korea, Haetae statues guard temples and municipal buildings.
During the Joseon Dynasty from 1392 to 1910, the tiger and magpie appeared prominently in Minhwa, a form of Korean folk art, notably in Kkachi Horangi. The spiritual guardians are similar to the ones in the film, down to the tiger’s expression; often, these artworks were meant to satirize the ruling class, so giving the tiger a silly expression was meant to rob the upper class of its power.
Fans can appreciate both of the beloved characters at home; Netflix sells a plush tiger ($47.95), which sells out as fast as it is restocked. “We launched with Netflix Shop at the film’s release and continue to add new products across categories week after week,” Isler says. “Our goal is to bring more products to the marketplace, and quickly, to satisfy fan demand, but it’s also important that we offer fans products that are authentic to the story and deliver a quality experience from trusted partners.”
Jazwares has transformed both animal characters into 9- and 12-inch Squish-
mallows ($14.99-19.99). The plush sold out during preorder and are scheduled to arrive in May, alongside BumBumz versions of the characters coming in the spring as well. Gerhard Runken, executive vice president of brand and marketing at Jazwares, says these plush were the company’s biggest release of 2025: “Fans couldn’t get them fast enough! We are super excited to bring our bigger program to the world in 2026.”
The Magical Messengers Bundle from The Woobles ($102) encourages fans to crochet the two animal companions featured in the film: Jinu’s blue tiger and the six-eyed magpie. “When I watched the movie, it really resonated with me,” shares Justine Tiu, The Woobles co-founder and chief Woobler.
THE FUTURE IS GOLDEN
While the wait for 2029 may seem arduous, the opportunity for merch is not. “We want to keep that fandom alive,” Hodge says, when looking to the film’s sequel and future releases for Yoto. “I think that the music really is so good. People really genuinely love it. They’re great songs.” While the brand hasn’t confirmed anything yet, it hasn’t ruled out the possibility of future releases.
Mattel is careful to avoid spoilers for its plan next year, but remains as excited as any member of the HUNTR/X fan club: “We are proud to have moved at the speed of fandom and cannot wait to reveal these innovative, thoughtfully designed products beginning in spring 2026,” Karamanos says.
Bioworld is looking forward, too. It will continue to introduce new items throughout the year, Guckeyson says. Fans can look forward to design refreshes throughout 2026 and into spring 2027.
Jazwares will expand the characters available in its signature Squishmallows and BumBumz. “We have a lot of things coming in 2026 that we know fans are going to love, including a full line of plush and Squishmallows,” Runken shares. “That will include a wide range of plush featuring fan favorite heroes, villains, and sidekicks, all capturing the action-packed, demon-hunting energy of the film!” The company is as committed to fans as HUNTER/X, who do everything for the fans. “We are excited that Netflix trusted us with this IP, and we are going to bring fans unique and innovative products for years to come,” he adds.
The kit uses all three of the brand’s yarns, including Easy Peasy and Easy Peasy Extra Squeezy. It is also the first kit to feature the company’s new glitter yarn. Both animal companions have custom eye pieces. The Woobles team worked closely with the film’s creative team while developing the kit, so, Tiu says, “the crochet can feel true to the art.”
The company is awaiting further feedback from fans before offering additional KPop Demon Hunters kits. Initial response to the preorder has been positive and effusive. If fans want more, Tiu says The Woobles will oblige.
“There is no slowing down,” Isler shares. “We can’t wait for everyone to see the ‘golden’ plans we have for 2026 and beyond.”
If anything is certain, the next 10 months look bright for Hunters. If there seems to be a lot of HUNTER/X, rest assured that the Honmoon is sealed. ✪

MATT BUSS: Our collaboration with Jason Freeny has [intentionally] evolved into a significant platform for us. Mighty Jaxx CEO and Founder Jackson Aw set out with the vision to create an art-led, IP-led creative studio for art toys, collectibles, consumer products, tech, and beyond. Working with Jason sits at the core of what we do. The question internally is never, “Will this sell?”; it’s, “Does this format genuinely add something to the character or IP?” For example, a brand like XXRay Hidden Dissectibles adds a fresh artistic approach to an iconic IP like One Piece, as it’s unique and fresh for the fandom. However, this treatment would not work in the same way for Hello Kitty. Working with our partners at Sanrio, under the design and curatorship of Freeny, we created the brand Kandy. Again, a half-and-half figure, but this time with a softer interpretation, while still providing the look and freshness that a truly art-led collectible offers to the fandom. Some IPs that we have announced as new additions to our portfolio for 2026 include Digimon, Bleach, Naruto, Godzilla, and Tamagotchi.
HOW DOES YOUR CREATIVE MISSION ALIGN WITH FREENY’S ARTWORK?
MB: The partnership is one that elevates both parties. Mighty Jaxx is a studio house, and the brands we create are excellent examples of this approach. A great deal of thought goes into how each piece comes together, from concept and sculpting through to engineering and materials. The aim is always to respect the source material while also staying true to the creative language of the line with commercial success.
PI: WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING PART OF WITNESSING THE FAN RESPONSE TO YOUR PRODUCTS?
MB: Honestly, it’s seeing the energy around Mighty Jaxx brands in real life. At shows like SDCC, NYCC, and DesignerCon, you really feel it. Interactions directly with fans are invaluable. DesignerCon in particular has been special because it brings together both hardcore art toy collectors and newer fans discovering the space for the first time. On the commercial side, the response has been just as encouraging. That balance of strong fan engagement at events and consistent performance in stores is what really tells us we’re building big, sustainable brands.

Cue the inception of BookTok: an online community of readers who gush over their favorite books, curate thematic shelf displays, and recommend new reads to their — sometimes millions of — followers.
One of the series at the heart of the BookTok boom is A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. Colloquially known as ACOTAR, the five-book series, along with two other series penned by Maas, has sold more than 75 million copies worldwide. The #ACOTAR tag on TikTok has garnered nearly 2 million posts, while the general #booktok hashtag has amassed more than 70 million posts. BookTok users’ feeds are filled with thousands of videos of passionate fans who are eager to get their hands on bookish merch.
The worlds that fans are reading about may be fantastical, but as we’ve learned from cultural touchstones like Harry Potter, fantasy can sometimes find its way into the real world. Ashleigh, an Australian influencer who goes by @ashess.reads on Instagram and TikTok, says that great book merch makes you feel like you are a part of that universe, even without magic powers.
“I like things that I can collect that make me feel like I can have parts of the book,” Ashleigh says. “If they have a good crown that’s represented in a book, if I can find something similar to it, then I feel like I’ve got a bit of merch from the world. Even candles — I feel like I can smell what the character might smell like or what Christmas might be like in Velaris. All these things make me feel like I can be inside the book.”
“We see BookTok as more than a trend,” says Elena Lécue, chief marketing officer at Scentbird, a fragrance company featuring more than 1,000 scents from different brands, including a curated collection based on BookTok series. “It’s a vibrant community where readers live and breathe the worlds they love, and where fandoms translate into culture, lifestyle, and even scent.”
Merch makers of all sizes are eager to meet these demands from fans. ACOTAR merch and items from other romantasy series have slowly started to appear on shelves in bookstores nationwide, and it’s just getting started. In June of last year, Maas and her team made an agreement with IMG Licensing to create a comprehensive merch program inspired by all three of her series.
TREASURE FOR TECHIES
Fans who read on e-readers like a Kindle or their phone may not be able to use an iconic bookmark or curate the perfect bookshelf display, but they can still find book-inspired merch that goes with their tech like dragons go with flames.
PopSockets recently launched a collection of PopGrips and tech cases inspired by Throne of Glass, Maas’ first
book series. Jiayu Lin, CEO of PopSockets, says this is the brand’s first licensed book collab, with two more series inspired by ACOTAR and Maas’ third series, Crescent City, coming this year.
“We have a great overlap between the BookTok community and PopSockets users,” Lin says. “A lot of them read on Kindle. They can put [our grip] on their Kindle device or their Kindle case. It’s very easy to hold their reading devices that way, similar to how we serve phone users.”
With so many BookTok users putting PopSockets gear on their Kindles, PopSockets included Kindle cases in its initial Throne of Glass launch. The Kindle cases match the iPhone cases in the collection, featuring artwork created by the PopSockets team instead of more standardized iconography from Maas’ team. One design features Abraxos the wyvern lounging in a field of flowers, an iconic moment from the series depicting the fearsome creature enjoying the smaller things in life.
“Sarah J. Maas doesn’t have a very established style guide as you would have with other big properties,” Lin says. “Our designers, because they’re such big fans in the first place, were able to lean into the content, work closely with the author to create iconography and designs that speak to fans and a lot of insider references to the book series.”

TAKING FLIGHT
Another massive series in the BookTok space is Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. Since the first book’s release in 2023, the Empyrean series has sold more than 12 million copies.
Much like ACOTAR, Fourth Wing has also seen an influx of licensed goodies this year, including Priorities: Fourth Wing Edition from Hasbro and the upcoming Fourth Wing: Rise of the Wingleader game from Goliath.
Even companies that are more selective in their partnerships are headed to Navarre to collaborate with the brand. Last year, Scentbird launched a sampler collection inspired by the third book in the series, Onyx Storm. The Onyx Storm Discovery Set features five existing fragrances hand-picked to represent different characters, settings, and themes from the series, including main characters Violet Sorrengail and Xaden Riorson.
“The discovery set gives fans a way to wear their story,” Scentbird’s Lécue says. “This is a fragrance collection for fans who want to experience the Empy rean series beyond the page by bringing the world of Basgiath to life through scent. We be lieve scent is one of the most powerful ways to extend narrative into the real world, which is why we wanted to participate in this movement.”

“What we wanted to do is ensure that Lauren and Navessa’s fans were getting what they’d anticipated and what they expected, whether it was via an Etsy shop or whether it was some other way,” Scanlan says. “They’re part of our program. We communicate with them all the time.”

Accuracy is also paramount to great book merch. Ashleigh says that the Powerless Pop! figures are very accurate to the books, making them a great first installment in Funko’s first foray into the book world.
“I love them because they’re exactly how I would’ve envisioned Kai and Paedyn if they were little cartoons,” Ashleigh says. “They just pay attention to little details. So Paedyn has her 27 freckles on her face, her hair when it’s cut short, and the little vest that she wears. It’s all little things that are in the book.”
EXPANDING THE REALM
As licensors up their bookish merch game, retailers like Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million are expanding their offerings. Themed displays feature specific collections dedicated to Fourth Wing, ACOTAR Powerless, and other popular series, along with classics like Pride and Prejudice and Frankenstein

Prior to major licensing deals being made for popular BookTok series, a majority of the licensed merch fans could find came from independent, small business owners. According to Arlene Scanlan, managing partner at the licensing agency Moxie & Co., these small businesses have their place in the BookTok community, but they need to have curated lineups that fit within a brand’s image.
Moxie & Co. has been at the forefront of the BookTok licensing game, creating merch programs for the Powerless series by Lauren Roberts and the Lights Out series by Navessa Allen. While Moxie shuts down many unofficial shops selling

The agency has also launched some more traditional products, collaborating with Funko and Insight Editions to bring Powerless collectibles to fans. Plus, they’ve partnered with Books-A-Million on a line of exclusive merch, including pens, blankets, bookends, and more. But Moxie certainly isn’t resting on its laurels as the team continues to work on new deals for both Roberts’ and Allen’s series.
“This is the tip of the iceberg,” Scanlan says. “These are long-term programs with everything we do. Because it’s publishing and it’s not entertainment-driven, I don’t have to worry about it being a hit on Monday and being gone by Friday. These are things that have the potential

“The world building, the character building, the description of the dresses, and just the world itself, that there’s so much art and feeling you can pull from all of those descriptions. They’re chock-full, and they’re long. There’s a lot that you can use to immerse yourself in that space, and that’s what’s worked for us in our gift space, too.”
As these beloved book series continue to receive more thoughtful and representative merchandise, fans will have to find more BookTok-approved shelves to display all their goodies. ✪
