DAY 1

Morning: Breakfast at the lodge

Depart with picnic lunch and drinking water

Drive approximately 1 hour to Marangu Park

Gate

Complete registration at the gate

Begin hike to Mandara Hut (2,720m)

Walk through lush rainforest with opportunities to spot monkeys and colorful birds like the Turaco

Enjoy picnic lunch halfway through the hike

DAY 2

Morning: Breakfast at Mandara Hut

Carry picnic lunch and drinking water for the hike

Begin trek toward Horombo Hut (3,720m)

Walk through the Heather and Moorland zone with open landscapes

Enjoy stunning views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks along the way

The trail offers gradual ascent and panoramic views of forests and nearby villages

Break for picnic lunch en route

Total trekking time: Approximately 5–6 hours

DAY 3

Enjoy a late breakfast at Horombo Hut (3,720m)

Begin a 2-hour acclimatization hike to Zebra Rock, a unique geological formation

Take in stunning panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro from the viewpoint

Descend via a different route back to the hut

Arrive back at Horombo Hut for a hot lunch

Afternoon at leisure – relax and acclimate to the altitude

Dinner and overnight stay at Horombo Hut

DAY 4

Morning: Enjoy breakfast at Horombo Hut

Begin the trek to Kibo Hut (4,720m) with picnic lunch and drinking water

Hike through the alpine desert, experiencing cooler temperatures and open landscapes

Walk across the saddle area, the barren plateau between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks

Stop for a picnic lunch in the saddle area

Continue trekking slowly to Kibo Hut (total hiking time: approx. 4–5 hours)

Arrive in the afternoon and rest in preparation for the summit attempt

Dinner and overnight stay at Kibo Hut

DAY 5

Midnight: Wake up and enjoy refreshing tea with cookies

Begin the summit ascent with your guides (porters and chef remain at Kibo Hut)

Trek slowly through the dark to Gilman’s Point (5,685m) – approx. 5–6 hours

Rest briefly at Gilman’s Point, then continue along the crater rim

Hike 1–2 more hours to reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – the highest point in Africa

Spend about 20 minutes at the summit taking photos and soaking in the achievement

Begin descent back to Kibo Hut – approx. 3 hours

Enjoy a well-earned breakfast at Kibo Hut

Continue descending for another 3 hours to Horombo Hut (3,720m)

Dinner and overnight stay at Horombo Hut

DAY 6

Morning: Enjoy breakfast at Horombo Hut

Begin your final descent to Marangu Park Gate – approx. 5–6 hours of walking

Arrive at the gate and enjoy a hot lunch

Say farewell to the mountain crew and porters who are not returning to Moshi

Meet your driver and transfer to Moshi town – approx. 1 hour drive

Check in at your Hotel/Lodge in Moshi for a well-deserved rest
