amous ‘From the New World’ Symphony will act as a weld between Bacewicz’s exuberant and Rautavaara’s peace and tranquil music. Dvořák composed it in inspiration from the indigenous melodies of North America – sometimes what is hundreds of miles away can prove closer than your own neighbourhood.

arl Nielsen said that “music is life itself, and just as life, it is inextinguishable”. It is the Danish composer’s ‘The Inextinguishable’ Symphony that will crown the piano tale of life-giving love, preceded by an orchestral firework by the American minimalist.

colourful, evocative journey through European landscapes – Viennese palaces, Norwegian fjords, Ukrainian steppes, right to the depths of the sea. Painted with a sophisticated orchestral line, shaded with the sound of Norwegian Hardanger fiddle, finished with sounds of old folk melodies.

rmenians are like birds detached from their flock and searching for rest in vain. The Naghash Ensemble garnishes their longing and suffering, encrypted in poetry, with music combining what they have heard along their way: native folklore, western classical music, jazz, rock and postminimalism.

ot a carefree journey but a pilgrimage aimed at perfecting oneself. In his three volumes, the virtuoso pretending to the name of a poet of sounds included the story of his own wandering, leading from the Swiss landscapes, through the works of Italian art, to meditation on ultimate matters.

o pursue, to yearn, to aim, to wander in search – this is what ‘inshad’, Muslim religious hymns imply. Sufi songs and trance dance – the dance of whirling dervishes – will uncover one dimension of the spiritual quest – the path of mystical ecstasy.
