CRI Collection

IN THIS ISSUE:

INSPIRE & BE INSPIRED

The inception of this collection traces back to June 2024 in Chicago, when I first encountered a mesmerizing blue‑and‑purple metallic color sample from Zieta.

Looking further back, however, its origins may reach as far as 26 years ago at Vitra on Pacific Avenue in San Francisco, where Barbara and I worked together. We stayed in touch.

Fast forward to today, we are thrilled to have this special opportunity to partner on The CRI Collection x Policroma - a large scale exhibition of independent brands, each with distinctive products and stories to tell.

We hope you enjoy the show and feel inspired, as you continue to inspire us.

Mitab Redefines contract furniture in Sweden - with a global mindset

For nearly five decades, Mitab has established itself as one of Sweden's leading brands, synonymous with quality furniture designed for public spaces. Proudly crafted in our Tranås factory in southern Sweden, we combine local craftsmanship with innovative design, ensuring our furniture not only meets but exceeds market expectations with durability and functionality.

Since the 1980s, our furniture has made its way to the US, where we have witnessed the growing appreciation for our products. Today, our primary mission is to create furniture that enhances both productivity and wellbeing. By fostering positive behaviors and experiences, we aim to craft pieces that are not only functional, but beloved by their users. We believe in empowering architects and interior designers to curate spaces where comfort and aesthetic appeal go hand in hand.

It is our pleasure to participate in CRI Vignette. Our selective curation serves to showcase a diverse range of products and capabilities. We highlight not only the extensive variety and quality of our offerings but also the customization options available to our clients. Collaborating with select

fabric suppliers, we aim to inspire creativity and demonstrate the potential for unique, tailored solutions that set Mitab apart.

Our design process is collaborative, working closely with esteemed designers from Scandinavia and beyond—countries like the US, Spain, and Germany. Each product is engineered for efficient production, prioritizing sustainability and adaptability to its intended environment. Our innovative Selected and Anycolour color programs provide architects and designers the flexibility to personalize their Mitab furniture with 200+ colors, ensuring each piece can seamlessly integrate into unique projects.

Our clients include Google, Microsoft, H&M, Volvo, Ericsson, Apple, NY Mets.

We

have seen that thoughtful design can coexist harmoniously with environmental responsibility. We carry our leadership forward to effective business practices for all stakeholders.

True to our roots as pioneers in the Swedish furniture industry, we have in recent years developed a transparent business model focused on sustainability. Customers can easily see the costs associated with spare parts and renovation services, reinforcing our commitment to longterm usability. Local production is at the heart of our philosophy: over 90% of the materials and components used in our products are sourced from suppliers within a three-hour drive to

For the past two years, we have extended our sustainability initiatives by offering renovation services for products from other manufacturers. As an industry leader in circular economy practices, about 10% of our business now revolves around sustainable, circular services, and we forecast this segment to grow significantly in the next five years, solidifying our position as a key player in the marketplace. We believe this can also be a viable solution for US

BILLIANI IS AN ITALIAN COMPANY THAT HAS BEEN CRAFTING WOODEN CHAIRS FOR OVER A CENTURY.

This is a journey that begins in the sign of wood and of colour, soulandvision.

Thisjourneybeginswithseating.”

Founded in 1911, Billiani is a company that believes in Made in Italy and design: its products, conceived in collaboration with both Italian and international designers, are an expression of a shared cultural heritage, as well as a family history. Billiani is located in Manzano, in the heart of a district that built its fortune on chairs, an area of small workshops and artisanal companies that carry forward a centuriesoldheritageofknowledge.

Billiani produces 100% in Italy, relying on an excellent supply chain made up of artisanal companieswithcenturies-oldhistories,whichare

each specialized in a phase of the work. Billiani’s technicians are also fundamental in keeping this productive fabric alive, which risked being lost in the wake of delocalization, which emptied the workshops and dispersed their capabilities. Each of these technicians follows the products step-by-step: a guarantee of quality but also an investment since each innovation enriches the know-how of the entire district. This is how Billiani's Made in Italy acquires a value that goes beyond the product itself and becomes an expression of a shared cultural and manufacturingheritage.

Production flexibility and speed of response are the first characteristics demanded by the contract sector, and in this sense, the years of the great international orders have been an excellent school for Billiani. Today the contract market is much more: it is customisation, ability to run a concept through a completeseriesofproducts, attentiontodetail, robustness. Billiani’s long list of creations tells all this, in the most diverse contexts around the world, from bistros to restaurants, from hotels to workspaces, always with a style that remains recognisable despite being individually designed eachtime.

A STORY OF THREADS AND SHARED DESIGN VALUES

Inahistoricalmoment in which it is more important than ever to plan the future with foresight and attention to the community, Billiani has found in Torri Lana the ideal partner for the first fabric collection designed by the Architect Cristina Celestino: an exploration inanewanddifferent field, but similar in terms of culture, tradition and know-how – from channels that seem like roots, colours that recall nature, andthreadsthat intertwine.

Timént is inspired by the River Tagliamento, the only European river that has not been changed by humankind and still flowing in its originalbed.

Through these fabrics, Cristina Celestino wanted to reproduce, by means of textures and colours, the particularbedofintertwinedchannels ofthiswhollyuniquewatercourseand the beauty of its floodplains. Oxbows and tributaries have become, through a process of abstraction, textures to be reproduced with graphics in woollenloopsfortheGretocollection; in organic cotton and hemp for the Golenacollection.

ZIETA STUDIOWHEN PROCESS BECOMES FORM

Most design narratives begin with a sketch.Oursbeginswithamethod.

We develop and control the manufacturing process itself, treating production as a creative act rather than a final step. This approach— Prozessdesign—reorders the traditional hierarchy of design. Parametersaredefined, butoutcomes arenotfixed.

AtthecoreofthisapproachisFiDU, a proprietary technology that allows us to inflate metal. Laser-cut sheets are precisely edge-welded, then expanded from within using highpressure air. In this critical moment, metalrespondsonitsownterms.

We call this a controlled loss of control: a collaboration between algorithm, air, and material intelligence.

At CRI, we present a sequence of moments—each revealing how metal transforms when process leads, and formfollows.Someobjectsappear in a deconstructed or pre-inflated state, exposing their origin as flat contours. The iconic Plopp stool standsasacondensedmanifesto of this logic: a flat profile expanded intostructure, function, andidentity.

Elsewhere, the surface becomes narrative.Thevioletandbluetonesof Rondo mirror are not applied colors but optical events—produced through experiments with pigments, polished steel, deformation, and light. As viewers move, color shifts. Reflection fractures.Meaningremainsfluid.

FiDU shifts metal from surface to volume, from potential to performance. Each piece carries visibletracesofthistransition:welded edges, controlled distortions, and inflated geometries that could not be achieved through conventional formingmethods.

OskarZięta’slong-termresearchinto ultralightnessspansconcept,process,and production.Thisphilosophyiscapturedin theof"lessisless":

The most radical expression of this research is Ultraleggera, the world’s lightest aluminum chair. Weighing just 1.66 kg (3.65 lb) yet capable of supporting over one ton, it demonstrates how FiDU enables extreme efficiency without sacrificing durabilityorcomfort.

Many of the objects presented at CRI are circular by design—not as a response to trends, but as a foundational choice. FiDU technology allows us to work with monomaterial constructions that are durable, repairable, and fully recyclable. Sustainability is not layered onto the object;itisembeddedinitsformation.

Minimal material use also extends beyond the physical. Prozessdesign reduces the need for excessive tooling, molds, and even digital storage. Optimization happens across matter, energy, andinformation.

Together, theworksatCRIarticulate a single design logic: one in which structure, material efficiency, and circularity are inseparable. FiDU enables hollow, monomaterial objects that minimize resource use while delivering high structural performance. GLAMORA

The cultural and expressive medium, where art, design and material

Founded in Italy in 2010, Glamora is rooted in an authentically Italian sensibility. The brand’s vision is nourished by art, literature, nature and travel — drawing inspiration from figures such as Costantino Nivola, Maria Lai, Federico Fellini and Wim Wenders, as well as from landscapes and atmospheres that inform a refined and poetic way of conceiving space.

Each collection is developed as a visual narrative, where imagery, rhythm and materiality work together to define mood and spatial identity. Carefully selected natural materials — including European linen, African raffia, quartz and cork — are interpreted in dialogue with the concept of each collection, enhancing their tactile and expressive qualities.

Glamora conceives wallcovering not as a decorative layer, but as an architectural surface capable of shaping perception, atmosphere and experience.

Glamora approaches each project as a collaborative process, translating architectural vision into tailored surfaces that enhance the identity and atmosphere of space

For over fifteen years, Glamora has worked alongside architects, interior designers and retailers worldwide as a partner in bespoke wallcovering design. Every project is developed internally within an integrated creative and production ecosystem, where concept, design and realization evolve in close dialogue. This approach ensures stylistic coherence, precision and control throughout all phases of the process.

Glamora’s services are structured to respond to different design needs — from refined adaptations of existing subjects to

Materials & collections

Glamora’s offering is structured around distinct yet complementary collections, conceived as an open and evolving system designed for architectural and interior projects worldwide.

You are the very first audience to view our Creative Collection: Chapter XVI in person. A visual journey of thirty-six wallcoverings, where tactile art, suspended nature and graphic experimentation meet in a contemporary balance. The collection moves through four expressive realms: Tropical Monotype, transforming botanical impressions into layered silhouettes with a strong material presence; Mineral Memories, where pigments and textures convey an essential, almost geological depth; Fairy-tale Landscapes, a contemporary re-reading of 19th-century decorative prints and Italian heritage; and Soft Romanticism, shaped by transparencies, delicate details and rarefied atmospheres. Four different viewpoints, one idea of the wall as narrative.

We are grateful to CRI for hosting this exhibition and for fostering a design culture rooted in openness, care and sensitivity. Spaces that invite calm, connection and a sense of ease have a profound impact on the way we live and experience the world.

Sharing our work and vision of interior design products within the California design community — where material warmth, thoughtful restraint and human-centered design are deeply valued — is both meaningful and inspiring.

Creative Collection represents the brand’s most extensive and dynamic body of work. Continuously evolving, it explores a wide range of visual languages — from figurative to abstract, from landscape-inspired compositions to graphic and illustrative interpretations — offering designers a flexible platform for projects of different scale and destination. This extensive collection is available on our most popular substrates: non-woven cellulose, textured vinyl and a Type 2 version for hospitality uses.

Special Editions are thematic collections developed around a precise aesthetic, application and material research. Inspired by natural materials such as linen, quartz and raffia, they emphasize texture, tactility and sensorial depth, giving rise to surfaces that interact subtly with light and space. Special Editions include innovations in waterproof wallcovering materials, organic and fully plant-based wallcoverings and special wellness-focused applied finishes designed to improve indoor air quality.

Atelier brings together Glamora’s most refined proposals, characterized by a strong artistic and artisanal component. Free from trends and constraints, these collections explore wallcovering as a rare and personal form of expression.

Together, the collections reflect Glamora’s vision of surface design as a balance between creative freedom, material intelligence and architectural sensitivity.

A History of 585 Howard Street

"The details are not the details. They make the design." Charles Eames

Every designer knows that the power of great design goes far beyond just the functionality of tables and chairs. It is that myriad of details, sometimes in the most unexpected places, that make an environment that proudly states “this is me.”

CRI started as a resource for the design community. With us, the designer’s dream of what a space might be could expand and bloom to make a perfect statement about the client’s culture, branding, and forward looking face to the outside world.

Hence, we want to keep bringing you a wide range of potential design elements and then help you put it all together. We want you to consider the options whether in-stock or custom. And at times, interject the unexpected that may elicit a range of reactions from awe to something as simple as a smile. And know that in the end, it is fully your design, your vision and your interpretation of the design challenge.

Toward that end, CRI truly remains your partner in design.
