I

n a music industry where bands typically go two or three years between albums, the Dirty Heads are treating

fans to new music at a prolific pace these days. Over the past six years, the reggae-rooted group has released five studio albums – and may make it six albums in seven years if the group finishes a next album that is in the works. The band will be playing

near Redmond on June 23 as part of the Marymoor Park Concerts series. The latest burst of creativity that has already produced a 2016 self-titled album and “Swim Team” (released last fall) doesn’t seem to have run its course, according to Jared “Dirty J” Watson, who along with Dustin “Duddy B” Bushnell, fronts the group. “Sometimes when you’re done with an album, you’re

really just like ‘Man, I’m done. I’m done writing. I really want to go out and I want to play this,’ and you don’t even really think about a new album,” Watson said. “And as soon as we were done with that (self-titled album) it was almost like we had so much creative energy left. We just felt like we really wanted to do another one. “We just had the bug and just wanted to keep writing

and putting music out,” he said. “And we’re already talking about doing another album and we already have an idea for that. Now we’re super excited. We’re already setting up where we’re going to do it, what the vibe’s going to be like. We’re just in a spot right now where we’re all really inspired and having fun.” The fun spirit certainly See MUSIC, Page 10
