Welcome to the 2012 Chamber Membership Directory Welcome to the print version of the Greater Kirkland Chamber of Commerce Membership Directory. Here you will find all the businesses, organizations, and individuals who belong to the Chamber and who support the many programs and events in which the Chamber is involved and which make Kirkland a better community. In addition to this printed version we also maintain a list of members at www.kirklandchamber.org. The size makes it easy for you to keep at your desk, near a phone, or carry in your car, purse, jacket or briefcase. We encourage you to keep this directory close by as a reference for when you are looking for products or services for home or business. The Kirkland Chamber is the most established business group in Kirkland that works closely with the city in helping to strengthen business. What does that mean for you? •
You enjoy more services and pay less in taxes than you would in a community with fewer businesses. City budgets are dependent largely on sales and property taxes. Without the sales tax revenue the city receives through local businesses, either you’d pay more in taxes or you would see parks closed, road and sidewalk improvements put off, fewer police, and other cuts to services you enjoy while living in Kirkland.
•
You have more choices on where to purchase goods and services. That saves time and money compared to driving outside the city to locate the same things. Now we all shop at various locations as well as on Internet. But isn’t it nice being able to see and hold something before buying, to be able to ask questions of a real live person, and to get something quickly when you need to?
•
The Chamber also works with its own members to make them better businesspeople. With workshops and networking, Chamber members learn from peers, specialists, and customers about what they can do to be more successful. Our recent merger with the Kirkland Downtown Association strengthens the Kirkland business community. For you as a buyer, hopefully that means you enjoy better service and selection.
•
Have you been to a play at the Kirkland Performance Center? Ever take a class at the Kirkland Art Center? Attended a program at the Kirkland Senior Center or the Teen Center? All those places have received thousands of dollars from the Chamber in past years. In fact, since 1997, about $120,000 has been raised for non-profit organizations. Besides the ones just mentioned, others helped include Evergreen Healthcare Child Grief and Bereavement Center, WA Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Woodlands Playground on Rose Hill, Lake Washington Schools Foundation, Kirkland Fire Department, and Hopelink.
Whether using our online membership directory or this printed version, you will find a categorized list of fine Kirkland area businesses with contact information, locations, and links to their Web sites. So when you shop Kirkland, let businesses know you found their name in the Chamber directory and that you appreciate the support they offer the Chamber in making Kirkland a better place to live, work, and play. Val Gurin, Chamber President Printed in partnership with the Kirkland Reporter
