I have been a doctor for eighteen years. My philosophy toward medicine is basically to help people everyday. I want to take that bookish knowledge given to me in medical school, translate it into a working diagnosis for my patients, and then effectively communicate the treatment to the patient, so they can execute it. I think my social skills help a lot in this regard. No matter how much knowledge you have, unless you can pass on that knowledge of the disease and treatment to the patient, it is wasted. In addition I have managed as many as 12 people, ranging from clerks to degreed accountants, and have excelled at streamlining a staff of 10 down to 5 by reorganizing job roles and helping employees work more efficiently. I’ve stepped into management positions where morale was bad and deadlines were unachievable and turned it around with results of employees working together as a team to meet deadlines. A dear mentor and longtime community nurse, Toni Erickson, advised me in 1980 that she thought I would make a good nurse. Because I loved and respected her, I took her advice and have always been grateful for her direction. I have never regretted becoming a nurse. In 1983 I graduated from Green River Community College with a Practical Nurse Degree. In 1996 I became a Registered Nurse. In 2010 I received my BSN and am currently working towards a Masters in Business. For years I worked in physician offices in the Enumclaw & Buckley area. Since 1996 I have worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital. First as a labor & delivery nurse and in management since 2001. As a bedside nurse, advocating for my patients and ensuring a great patient experience inspired me. Now as Director of Patient Care Services, advocating for nurses inspires me. I enjoy working with our community to provide health care services and wellness support for our community members. Specifically I enjoy working with other community leaders to ensure St Elizabeth is a strong partner towards improving the health of our community. St Elizabeth is committed to taking care of our community members when appropriate. My goal is that we provide the service on the plateau that our patients need so they would not have to leave their home area for care. Personally, I love being spontaneous, which is not always embraced by my engineer husband. Our last spontaneous thing was planning a last minute camping trip to the beach with my husband and dog Duke.

Darami, having married into a family printing business 20 years ago, took over the business in 2009 and transitioned the business over the last 2 ½ years into a full scale marketing and branding company. Shortly after purchasing it, she changed the name from The Printers Inc to Transmogrify to symbolize the very different avenue the business was taking. She wanted the company name to reflect more than just a product: it needed to represent a concept or idea. She readily states that she had very little hand in creating the actual name, that was all her creative team and when asked many times over the past 24 months what it means, Darami doesn’t skip a beat when she tells you it means, “To take the ordinary and turn it into the extraordinary in a chiefly humorous or magical manner.” That, she says, is what they do best in marketing and branding. It takes clients from whom they are today and helps turn them into who they want to be in the future. She kept the print production facility going, this allows Transmogrify to not only create the ideas for the marketing and branding but also to be able to control the production, a big value ad for her clients. In house, Transmogrify creates everything from paper printed business cards, screen printed and embroidered apparel, websites, and trans•mog•ri•fy social media monitoring…the list goes on. One of her favorite things to do is travel and the farthest place in the world she has traveled was this past January when one of their clients asked her to go to Dubai to roll out a new identity that Transmogrify had created. She had a blast rolling out a new brand for a Sushi franchise (Sumo Sushi & Bento) as they celebrated their 10 year anniversary in business. She also ran a two day marketing seminar to train all of the franchisees and managers on the importance of brand consistency and marketing initiatives. “There is nothing like taking a business that has existed for many years and giving the entire thing a face lift. It is exciting for the owners, the employees, and the customers. If done well, everyone is happy and the business benefits. The only thing better or just as challenging is a new product launch. The end result of any of it is enjoyable but the work to get there is very arduous and stretches our minds constantly.” She spends time volunteering at her church, the Chamber of Commerce, and other local organizations. Outside of her work life, her favorite thing to do is spend time with her family. She enjoys going to the kids’ sporting events, throwing rocks in the river, and laughing….a lot! She believes life is an amazing gift and she is driven and passionate, both she says are her greatest strengths: while at the same time, she also says, they are her greatest weaknesses. 533885

As a long time resident and graduate of Enumclaw I feel privileged to do what I love in the community of which I live and was raised. Yes, I am from Texas. Born and raised. West Texas originally but Austin for 4 years while attending the Univeristy of Texas (Hook ‘Em!) and Houston for 2 years for physical therapy school at Texas Woman’s University. I moved to the Pacific Northwest in January of 2009 after a long inner debate of whether to settle in Austin, a city which I love dearly, or venture out to something new. Originally I planned on being a pediatric therapist, so a large part of my background and experience is in that area and I have completed courses required for pediatric specialty certification. However, I am also very well prepared for treating adult patients and because of having completed additional course work in manual and Orthopedic therapy and working with the adult population at for the last three years I work with both the adult as well the pediatric clientele.

Dorothy Pearson, Traci Norris and Cheryl Reynon (not pictured). “We became fast friends with similar interests while shopping at a friend’s home party.” All have teenagers who appreciate fashion, and after seeing the need in Bonney Lake for designer denim and clothing, decided to open House of Denim in May 2011. “It was one of the most spontaneous things we’ve ever done!” The location is the former Basket Bloom flower shop next to Cascade Towing in Bonney Lake. “People still walk in and ask if we sell flowers.” House of Denim is a boutique style store that offers the designer jeans teens (and adults) are looking for. The most rewarding clientele for us are people who have never experienced designer/premium denim, think they can’t wear it, try them on, and are surprised at how good they look in them. With our teens attending both Bonney Lake and Sumner schools, word has gotten out and spread to surrounding high schools. We are very involved in the community with selected sponsorships, and will only continue our support. We offer in-store ladies events once a month to keep in touch with our clients and provide a fun atmosphere to shop. Local merchants invited! Student discounts and multiple order business discounts are available. I am an Enumclaw resident with strong ties to our community. My children were raised and schooled in the Enumclaw School District of which we hold many wonderful memories. I have had a shop in Enumclaw for 20 years starting out as Country Heart. In that store we made quite a bit of our inventory. A year after we moved Country Heart to Cole St., Steve’s Shoes decided to close their store and we were fortunate to acquire the space to open another shop. And Almost Necessities was born. For about the first year, my husband, Toby worked Almost Necessities while I worked Country Heart. As time became scarce, I was having a hard time keeping up with not only making things for Country Heart but just keeping two stores functioning. So we closed Country Heart to focus on Almost Necessities and we have been in this location for 18 years. Apparently, we forgot how much work it was to have two stores because 6 years ago we opened Sweet Necessities, in the back of the building, when Café Panini moved across the street. I still love to make things so I make most of the jewelry that I carry and a few other beaded items like bookmarks and wine glass charms. Sewing is another passion of mine, so I make aprons and tea cozy’s for the shop, too. I also help with the candy making for Sweet Necessities. I have to say, though, that the treasures of my life are my two grandchildren! I have babysat them at least one day a week for over ten years, so we are very close. I can’t imagine my life without them!

I’ve lived in the Enumclaw Community for the last 20+ years. I have worked at Enumclaw Health and Rehab previously and when the opportunity arose to come back as the Director of Nursing, I was very excited to have the opportunity to work with the residents of Enumclaw again. I’ve been a nurse for 24 years and enjoy the challenges and rewards of working and helping take care of people. My greatest reward can be as simple as making someone smile after they have a rough day. I love to get to know the residents, their families and the staff at EHRC. Everyday I learn something new as a nurse and as a woman.
