PNW FCA ANNUAL REPORT
ANNUAL REPORT FISCAL YEAR 2025

We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory.
2 Corinthians 3:18 (CSB)

TO SEE THE WORLD TRANSFORMED BY JESUS CHRIST THROUGH THE INFLUENCE OF COACHES AND ATHLETES.
VISION MISSION
TO LEAD EVERY COACH AND ATHLETE INTO A GROWING RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST AND HIS CHURCH.

DEAR CHAMPIONS,
Do you feel it? A shift a tangible move of God’s Spirit across the Northwest? I do! Recently, Pastor Jon Tyson reminded us that “all movements of God are started by people of God, talking about God.”
As we close another ministry year, the vision remains the same: awaken a movement of discipleship unlike anything the Pacific Northwest has seen. A “move of God” is a season of spiritual awakening marked by His presence, repentance, transformation, obedience, faithfulness, and a longing for His glory. Looking back, I believe that is what we
are experiencing. God is moving, and He is using FCA. Here’s the truth: healthy things grow. This year, we celebrated hiring our 109th staff member. We mobilized more than 2,000 volunteers and averaged over 10,000 coaches and athletes each week in Huddles during the school year. That’s 109 staff members Engaging, Equipping, and Empowering 2,000 volunteers, who in turn Engage, Equip, and Empower 10,000 coaches and athletes weekly.
Friends, that’s discipleship math. That’s Jesus math.
Recently, I tested Google’s new AI feature by typing in “3, 12, 72.” The response? The 3-1272 Principle. This principle reflects the intentional way Jesus focused on discipleship: pouring deeply into three, walking closely with twelve, sending out seventy-two and ultimately reaching thousands.
From 3, to 12, to 72, to 5,000, to the ends of the earth. When we stay focused on leadership and discipleship, Jesus math happens.
Thank you for taking the time to read our Annual Report. The pages ahead tell the story of this movement. You are fueling a movement of discipleship—and we are just getting started!

THE WIN THE WIN

ON-CAMPUS OFF-CAMPUS
Coaches and athletes on college, high school and middle school campuses are being empowered to take the Gospel to their peers by leading Huddles where they gather regularly to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. The win of a Huddle is to empower key leaders to create an environment in the sports community where the Gospel is made known and lived out through intentional conversation.

Where coaches and athletes are, FCA seeks to be relevant and present in these environments. The culture of sports has changed. The majority of athletes and coaches are competing off-campus through clubs, leagues, tournaments and in non-traditional environments. Regardless of the environment, the win remains the same: disciples making disciples

Why do you give to FCA?
We give to FCA because we believe there is no greater joy than to see kids walking in God’s truth! An investment in FCA brings God’s truth into coaches & athletes lives. We want them to know that God loves us, speaks identity over us, gives us the peace, strength & courage to walk with Jesus & live life to the full! There’s no greater thing we can financially support than ministry that brings truth to a hurting world that is so deceived by the lies of the Devil who rules the world. Such an amazing opportunity to further the ministry of Fellowship of Christian Athletes in our community!

FCA STAFF FEATURES
Here are some highlights from a few men and women who have said YES to FCA full-time

Jack Castledine
As the Marketing Coordinator for FCA Idaho, Jack Castledine is dedicated to capturing powerful stories from across the state and equipping staff with creative tools to advance their ministries Whether through video, photography, or design, Jack’s passion is helping the team share what God is doing through FCA. “I love seeing how a well-told story can inspire others and point them to Jesus,” he shares.
Jack’s journey to FCA began when God revealed a clear need for creative media and storytelling in Idaho. “I sensed Him calling me to step into that space and use the gifts He’s given me to glorify Him,” Jack says. Combining his love for storytelling with FCA’s mission has been a perfect fit, allowing him to bring his talents to a ministry he deeply believes in.
What Jack loves most about serving with FCA is the people “Every single staff and board member I’ve met is all in fully committed to the vision of FCA and unflinching in their pursuit of our mission,” he says Whether he’s at a camp, event or visiting the FCA Headquarters in Kansas City, he’s continually inspired by the faith and dedication of those around him. Jack describes the community as a glimpse of what the early disciples must have experienced. “A few days later, everyone heads home, and I find myself wishing we could all stay together,” he reflects. “It reminds me of Mark 6, when Jesus sends out His disciples two by two. I imagine they felt the same way.”
For Jack, it’s a privilege to use his creative gifts to help tell the stories of how God is transforming lives through FCA across Idaho.
Mo Fuiava
Mo serves as the female chaplain at the University of Oregon, ministering to student-athletes and coaches, and the entire athletic department Her journey into this role began unexpectedly “I didn’t even know what FCA was or how to spell ‘chaplain,’” she says “But the Holy Spirit kept nudging me to serve student-athletes. As I followed that call, the path led me to Eugene and to FCA.”
A former Division I athlete herself, her passion for this ministry runs deep. “I’m passionate about making sure students don’t leave the University of Oregon the way I did,” she shares. “I left with my identity rooted in my sport and achievements. That doesn’t last. Now, I get to help athletes see their identity in Christ.”

What she loves most about being on FCA staff is simple: “My job is to love like Jesus That’s what the Holy Spirit told me from the start ” Through that daily calling, God has been shaping her heart teaching her humility, wisdom, and deeper faith
One recent moment at FCA Camp stands out. Though she planned to skip a coach’s Huddle, a teammate felt led to ask her to share. She said yes, and that night, someone prayed a powerful blessing over her and her ministry. Hours later, she was able to encourage a young woman in crisis—someone she wasn’t even directly discipling.
“That experience reminded me: our ‘yes’ is never just about us,” she says. “It’s not just about the athletes I serve—it’s about the people in the city God’s called me to love.”

with FCA in Bozeman, Montana, where she combines her passion for ministry and athletics to invest deeply in athletes’ lives. Though she didn’t grow up connected to FCA, her heart for discipleship was clear early on During her college summers on leadership at Kanakuk Christian Camps, Audrey found deep joy in mentoring and walking alongside young women Those seasons confirmed her calling to disciple others, especially during the messy, inbetween moments of life After moving to Bozeman, she recognized a unique opportunity through FCA to bring together her love for ministry and sports.
What Audrey loves most about her role is the access it provides to build consistent, meaningful relationships with high school students. One school in particular has opened doors for her to invest deeply, and by the end of the year, she began to see the fruit of showing up faithfully.
pressure to have it all figured out has been really meaningful,” she shares.
A recent moment that encouraged Audrey came after a time of speaking—a task that doesn’t come naturally to her. She often wonders if athletes are truly listening, but afterward, several came up to thank her and share that they needed to hear her message. One athlete who had quietly attended Huddles all year even pulled her aside to say he wants to step up as a athlete leader next year, a powerful reminder that God is working even when it’s not obvious.
“I want to be what I needed when I was their age,” Audrey says “A calm, steady voice pointing them toward a different path than culture offers and showing them they’re not alone ”
For 11 years, Tim Gaydos has served as the Team Chaplain for the Seattle Mariners. That opportunity began through his role with the Seattle Sounders FC in 2009. When a close friend stepped down as Mariners chaplain, God opened the door for Tim to step in. Since then, relationships with players, coaches and staff have created opportunities for ministry throughout the organization.
This past year proved especially fruitful. “Players and coaches are not only growing deeper in their relationship with Jesus,” Tim shared, “but also encouraging others to do the same.” There has also been both player and coach Bible studies, even hosted on Zoom during road trips, have been a blessing
In 2018, those relationships led to the first Mariners Faith and Family event. As Tim later became the Greater Seattle Multi-Area Director with FCA, the event transitioned this year into Fields of Faith, bringing FCA’s vision of disciples making disciples into T-Mobile Park.
What is Fields of Faith?
Fields of Faith is an FCA ministry where athletes gather in their sports environments to challenge one another to read God’s Word and follow Jesus Christ. It is a peer-to-peer discipleship movement that engages athletes with the Gospel, equips them with Scripture and empowers them to influence their world for Christ.
In the weeks leading up to the event, excitement grew. FCA partnered with Spirit 105.3, Seattle’s Christian radio station, where players gave interviews and ticket giveaways helped spread the word across the city.
On the night of Fields of Faith, more than 4,000 people gathered at T-Mobile Park Greater Seattle FCA Board Member Chris Sharpe reflected on the experience: “The opportunity to sit at T-Mobile Park and give praise to Jesus while looking over the city was an inspiring moment. The vision for Seattle to become a harvest field for Christ is tremendous.”
Tim later recalled, “Seeing so many people make a decision to follow Jesus with their life, and hearing the stadium filled with voices lifted in praise, was incredible.”
More than 60 volunteers and staff, alongside church partners including Canyon Hills Church, Venture Church, Downtown Cornerstone Church and others, made the night possible. Their dedication showed the power of churches, staff and volunteers working together.
Looking ahead, the vision for Fields of Faith in Seattle is bold. “This event has the potential to fill TMobile Park with tens of thousands each year,” Tim said. “It is not only an evangelistic opportunity, but also a chance to cast a wide vision for FCA and what God is doing in our region.”

WORSHIPING JESUS AT T-MOBILE PARK

FCA REINED COW HORSE CAMP

In June, Pacific Northwest FCA Outdoors hosted the first-ever Reined Cow Horse Camp. Held in Oregon, this groundbreaking event brought together 53 athletes from middle school, high school, and college, plus 18 auditors (non-riding participants), for what became the largest equine event FCA has ever undertaken worldwide.
Over the course of the camp, participants received elite-level instruction in the three disciplines of the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) cutting, reining, and “down the fence.” What made the experience even more extraordinary was the lineup of clinicians, including five of the most accomplished names in the sport: Sarah Dawson, the top female competitor in reined cow horse; Nick Dowers, widely considered the face of the sport; and Shane Steffen, a former World’s Greatest Horseman champion.
What truly set this event apart wasn’t just the instruction or the impressive logistics (which included over 110 horses, 150 head of cattle, and more than 60 volunteers). It was the way the Gospel was shared, modeled by leaders and responded to by participants.
Our clinicians brought their expertise and deep spiritual vulnerability, with some sharing how Jesus has ridden with them through victories, failures, injuries and championships.
Their humble faith-filled testimonies opened hearts and created room for transformation. Over the course of the camp, seven individuals made first-time decisions for Christ, including one of the clinicians himself.
On the final night, that clinician shared how he had been walking through a season of deep discouragement and hopelessness. But during the week, God met him in a powerful way. Surrounded by grace and the truth of the Gospel, his heart was renewed and filled with hope. His story moved the room to tears and inspired ten more participants to give their lives to Christ (see photo below)
Randy Hutchins, FCA’s Pacific Northwest Director for Outdoors and Motorsports, summed it up this way:
“This was the most challenging undertaking I’ve ever attempted, but in the end, God showed up, as He always does. Lives were changed, hearts were healed and eternal destinies were forever transformed.”
What happened in that arena will be remembered far beyond the cattle, the clinicians or the competition. Jesus was present and the ripple effect is just beginning.

THE LAST FRONTIER ALASKA FCA
The vast and remote landscape of Alaska presents unique challenges for ministry. With no full-time FCA staff, immense geographic spread, and physical distance from any other part of the Pacific Northwest Region, Alaska can often feel disconnected from the rest of the region’s work. And yet, God is moving powerfully in this frontier.
Remarkably, the majority of FCA ministry in Alaska is being led by just two part-time staff in Fairbanks, Andrea and Ryan Reinheller, alongside a handful of dedicated volunteers. Despite limited resources, this small but faithful team is witnessing incredible growth and life transformation across the state.
Ministry is expanding not because of programs, but because of people. Athletes are inviting their peers to Huddles and events, many of whom have no previous connection to FCA. Relationships are driving the movement, and discipleship is taking deep root. Because of their faithfulness, God has multiplied the impact growing average Huddle attendance from 36 in 2023, to 100 in 2024, and now to 223 in 2025.
In Fairbanks and North Pole, FCA now has active Huddles in five high schools, as well as a multi-sport Huddle at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Athletes are stepping up to lead Bible studies, host worship nights, and pray openly with peers at school and sporting events.
“Alaska FCA is living out ‘disciples making disciples,’” said Andrea. “It’s encouraging to see teens guiding each other, asking for prayer at school and games and realizing they’re not alone in their faith. One girl told me she was so thankful for the Huddle at her school, she didn’t know there were other kids like her at school that shared her faith. She felt stronger knowing she wasn’t alone.”
One powerful example of this multiplication came from a former student-athlete who was deeply involved in her FCA Huddle during college at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Today, she’s back at the university as an assistant coach and an FCA leader. This summer, she led Alaska’s first All-Terrain Volleyball Clinic, combining high-level training with faith-based teaching across multiple surfaces: court, sand, and grass.
Public expressions of faith are becoming more common in Alaska’s sports culture. Student-led prayer groups are now a regular part of hockey games, from youth teams to high school and college. At the high school state championship, while the winning team celebrated, the runners-up gathered at center ice to pray. At the state tennis championship, four boys knelt in prayer after their match, drawing applause from the crowd.
This summer, the Alaska team brought 36 students to FCA Camp in Idaho, an incredible milestone considering the cost and complexity of out-of-state travel It was a week marked by spiritual growth, peer encouragement, and life-changing decisions for Christ
FCA also partnered with Olympic gold medalist Gigi Marvin to host a hockey camp that blended elite skill development with intentional Gospel conversations In addition, several summer game nights in Fairbanks drew more than 100 athletes, where they shared testimonies from Huddles and camp with their peers
Despite the obstacles of distance, travel cost, and limited staffing, God is at work across the beautiful state of Alaska Join us in continuing to pray for more staff and volunteers to be called to make disciples in Alaska, and for the movement of God awakening in the lives of coaches and athletes across the Last Frontier

EVERY MEANS EVERY ALL ABILITY
FCA staff ministry in Billings, Montana, she brought One of her closest friends had recently given birth to yndrome and it got her thinking: What does faith, or someone like Evin? That question stayed with her.
ch visit when she was sharing about FCA’s traditional sports camp. A woman in the audience raised her hand and asked, “My son has disabilities. Is he welcome at your camp?”
Jenny responded immediately, “Absolutely.” But the woman looked her in the eye and quietly replied, “I don’t believe you.”
That moment changed everything. Jenny realized that although her heart said yes, FCA didn’t yet have the structure or support system in place to serve athletes with different abilities in the way they deserved It wasn’t about good intentions—it was about creating an environment where all athletes could be seen, known, included and learn about Jesus.
That was the beginning of the All Ability Camp.
Since then, the ministry has grown in deeply meaningful ways. The volunteer base has expanded as people from all walks of life have come forward to help, many of whom aren’t traditional coaches or athletes. One volunteer named Jen returns year after year to serve as a one-on-one buddy for Grayson. Grayson’s mom always asks if Jen will be there. Jen always makes sure she is.
Another camper, Tate, is a ninth grader who had a stroke as a young child. He’s attended All Ability Camp as a participant, but now he’s asking when he can be a buddy. He wants to be a priest, and conversations with him often drift toward deep questions of faith “It’s as much a ministry to me as it is to the campers,” Jenny says
The next step in Billings is bold and clear: hiring staff to lead year-round All Ability ministry. In a region where disability services often lack a faith-based foundation, FCA has the opportunity to lead with love, build consistent relationships, and create programs that run parallel to their existing sports ministry.
Today, the All Ability Camp hosts around 30 campers each year. It’s grown at a sustainable pace, always with the right number of volunteers for the needs of the kids. It has become a beautiful picture of what happens when FCA staff listen to the Spirit, respond in obedience, and make room on the field for everyone.

BIKING FOR THE GOSPEL

What began as a dream in the heart of Romanian leader Daniel Iuraș turned into a powerful expression of FCA’s mission in motion. Daniel envisioned a mountain bike camp where young riders could not only develop their technical skills but also encounter the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. With the support of FCA’s Pacific Northwest and International Action Sports teams, his vision took shape through months of conversations, planning, training, and prayer.
In August, leaders from across the globe Mike Lange, Torry Mowatt, Jenny Dow, Laura Matera, Mike Adkins (PNW), Vince and Alyson Chunk Seong (Malaysia), and Andriy Kravtsov (Ukraine) joined Daniel on the trails of Romania. Together, they lived out FCA’s Engage, Equip, Empower strategy at every level:
Engage – drawing athletes and coaches in through the shared passion of mountain biking. Equip – training coaches to not only teach technical riding skills, but also open the Scriptures and lead meaningful faith conversations.
Empower – giving local leaders the confidence and tools to carry on ministry long after the camp ended.
For many, the most moving moments came in seeing coaches grow in confidence, realizing they were called to pour into athletes’ hearts as well as their riding abilities. “It was beautiful to watch the riders encourage each other in both sport and faith, living out the fruit of the Spirit,” one team member reflected. Athletes overcame language barriers, bonded as teammates, and supported one another through challenges on the bike and in life. Bible studies, chapel times, and trail conversations revealed God’s goodness and strengthened their desire to glorify Him in all they do.
This camp was more than just a week on the trails—it was discipleship in action. Through E3, every ride, every conversation, and every moment pointed riders and coaches toward a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church

A PATH TO SOMEWHERE
Too often, club and league sports place unseen pressures on coaches and athletes. Those pressures can leave them chasing success but ultimately headed down a path to nowhere. FCA Sports offers a different way forward, a path to somewhere.
We come alongside coaches and athletes to help them wrestle with three of life’s most important questions:
1.Who am I?
2.Where do I belong?
3.What is my purpose?
We believe the true answers are found in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. This is the path to somewhere, the path that leads to life, hope, and transformation.
While the foundation of FCA’s ministry has historically been built on-campus through Huddles, God has been opening new doors for impact beyond the school setting. Today, that foundation has expanded into community leagues and club teams, creating opportunities for coaches and athletes to grow in their faith through the sports they love. With our traditional oncampus model, FCA Sports now expands the runway for discipleship—reaching kids as young as five with the Gospel and walking with them as they grow.

These off-campus environments allow us to engage entire families, foster authentic discipleship, and see lasting impact far beyond the gym or the field.
Today, FCA Sports is reaching over 2,500 athletes and families through both club teams and leagues.

Club Teams: Currently, FCA is fielding 65 teams across Portland, Boise, Billings, and Seattle, representing sports like baseball, basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer and football.
Leagues: FCA is also running 9 leagues in cities across the region—including pickleball, volleyball, basketball, soccer, football and cheer.
Every practice, every game and every season is more than competition, it’s a chance for athletes and coaches to step on the path to somewhere and experience transformation so they can take the Gospel back into their communities, families and campuses.
“In the race to a child's heart, the first one there wins.”

A League with a Purpose
FCA SPORTS - TRI-CITIES, WA
In 2021, when Tri-Cities FCA launched their first league the vision was clear: reach families with the Gospel through youth sports. That first year began with fall soccer and a small winter basketball league, and around 600 athletes and families jumped in
Fast forward to 2025, and that vision has taken root and multiplied. FCA Sports now runs yearround leagues and programs including:
Fall Soccer, Flag Football, and Cheer
Winter Basketball (ages 4–12)
Spring Soccer
Summer Volleyball emPOWERed 3-Day Sports Camp (ages 6–12)
Today, more than 1,200 families have been involved and the number continues to grow each season.
For Troy Farley, Tri-Cities FCA Sports Leagues

Director, the heart behind this movement has never been about competition alone It’s about creating a culture where Jesus is known, where kids play with purpose, and where families grow in their faith.
“This is more than a league, it’s a discipleship opportunity,” Troy shares. “Every huddle, every practice, every game is a chance to share Jesus.”
FCA’s approach to leagues is built around engaging, equipping, and empowering families. Coaches are trained through the E3 discipleship strategy so they’re not only teaching skills, they’re modeling Christ-like leadership. The culture of the league encourages kids to be real, to play with purpose, and to embrace values like “others First” and “team over self.”
You’ll see the phrase “Jesus Won” printed on jerseys, signs, and team devotionals. It’s a simple reminder of what truly matters. “We say it all the time,” Troy said. “Stay tight to Jesus because when that’s your foundation, everything else starts to fall into place.”
“This is our first season with FCA Sports. Our daughter is 4, and it’s her first time playing soccer It’s been amazing watching her make friends and have fun—but even better seeing her grow in her faith. One night, after Coach Ray’s devo about prayer, she ran up to me after school and said, ‘Daddy, I talked to Jesus today!’ Now every day she asks me, ‘Did you talk to Jesus today, Dad?’”
Lives Are Being Changed
Lives Are Being Changed

The fruit of this ministry is evident and powerful. One coach who got connected through FCA Sports eventually became the league’s top sponsor. That involvement led him back to church, where he was baptized and now leads a small group with his family All of it started by saying yes to coaching youth sports
Another story that deeply moved Troy came from a parent after a spring soccer practice:
Troy’s vision for the next 3–5 years is big. Plans are underway to build an $80,000 super court to expand basketball and volleyball programming, with the potential to reach 500 new families in the first year and more than 1,000 by year three. The team is also preparing to:
Hire a dedicated FCA Sports staff person to support the growing ministry
Launch new leagues in East Pasco and Kennewick.
Partner with a local church to establish a second sports ministry hub.
Send a team of coaches overseas by 2027 to host a sports camp and equip leaders around the globe.
“We’re not here to chase trophies,” Troy says. “We’re here to help people grow one season at a time We’re not building champions for the weekend We’re building guides for life ”

Troy Farley Tri-Cities FCA Sports Leagues Director

The FCA Lumberjacks started in 2020 when Nic, a baseball coach, dad, and FCA board member, saw his sons missing out on baseball due to the pandemic. What began as one team has grown into a thriving program focused on faith, leadership, and community.
“I started a club team called the Lumberjacks for my boys when Little League shut down,” Nic shared. “We were playing against high-priced Portland-area club teams. They had the baseball training, but something was missing: strong, godly leadership.”
Through a connection with his father, a retired pastor, Nic was introduced to the local FCA Representative. Over time, the club team rebranded under the FCA umbrella, officially becoming the FCA Lumberjacks. What started as one team has now grown to seven teams, each intentionally led by coaches committed to not only developing athletes, but disciplemakers.
And the impact is undeniable.

“We’ve seen coaches come to faith, young athletes get baptized, and families transformed,” Nic said. “We do regular Huddles (intentional all-team faith conversations) at practices, and those conversations have led to real discipleship. At FCA Camp in Nampa, Idaho, 17 of our players attended, and I got to see two of them accept Christ with the entire group surrounding them in prayer. It was powerful.”
Nic is quick to admit it hasn’t always been perfect. Like any competitive sports environment, emotions can run high. But what’s clear is that FCA Sports is providing a platform for something eternal.
“My hope for the FCA Lumberjacks is simple: I want to see Christ-following leaders rise up in Southwest Washington, leaders who bring revival in their schools, communities, and beyond. I pray that as they grow in their baseball journey, their influence for Christ only grows stronger.”

CRAIG & JULIE SMELTER

Craig Smelter’s journey with FCA began in the late 1970s when a high school wrestling teammate invited him to a small Huddle in Walnut Creek, CA. That invitation led to FCA summer camp at Point Loma College, where Craig gave his life to Christ. Though decades passed before reconnecting with the ministry, the seed planted through FCA never left his heart.
In 2018, a coffee meeting with longtime friend Kevin Cady and Portland FCA Director Ryan Johnston reignited Craig’s passion. Learning how FCA was thriving in the Portland area with growing Huddles, engaged coaches, and camps reaching countless athletes Craig and his wife, Julie, felt called to give.
“We’ve seen FCA carry out the Great Commission—making disciples who compete and live to glorify God, not themselves,” Craig says. “That’s why we choose to invest in this ministry.”
Coaching has always been part of Craig’s story first as an athlete, then as a dad guiding his sons’ teams. Today, Craig and Julie find joy in seeing FCA equip athletes and coaches to live for Christ. Their involvement has also deepened friendships, enriched their faith, and expanded their perspective on generosity.
Their hope for the future? That FCA will continue to grow and faithfully share the Good News “so that all people may be saved and come to the knowledge of the Truth” (1 Timothy 2:4).
Thank you, Craig and Julie, for sowing seeds of faith that will bear fruit for generations.
