MANILA – With the Philippines making little headway in controlling the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, the economy will continue to suffer this year. In a report released this week, the World Bank said the country cannot expect to fully recover this year due to the continuing effects of the COVID-19 pan-

demic. The WB again lowered its expected growth of the Philippines to 4.7 percent for 2021, down from the 5.5 percent forecast of last March. WB economist Kevin Chua said the Philippines’ road to recovery was “fragile and challenging.” The Duterte ad- Page 8
