FilAm Joseph Alvarico named California’s Teacher of the Year
ANTIOCH, California – FilAm Ygnacio Valley High School engineering teacher and robotics instructor Joseph Alvarico was selected one of five 2024 California Teachers of the Year, according to Contra Costa County Office of Education (CCCOE) Superintendent of Schools Lynn Mackey. Mackey acknowledged that Alvarico’s achievement made the county proud and served as a living example of quality education in the area. “I am proud that one of our Contra Costa County teachers of the year has been named one of the state’s top educators. MANILA – The spate of bad news continues for the Marcos administration as yet another survey released last week showed that a growing number of Filipinos say their quality of life is declining. The latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey conducted between Sept. 28 and Oct 1, this year, showed that 30 percent of respondents said their quality of life got worse compared to a year ago, offsetting the 28 percent who said their quality of life had improved for the same period. SAN FRANCISCO - No less than 63 Asian American organizations recently sent a letter to Congress protesting the reauthorization of Section 702, a controversy-filled statute that they warn could be used to racially profile communities of color.
