THE NEW

FROM THE SILVER CUP TO

From the sundrenched streets of Cádiz, Spain, nicknamed “Tacita de Plata” i.e. Little Silver Cup, comes a story of persistence that transcends the wooden plies of a fingerboard. At 28 years old, Miguel Buzón Yuste has lived a dozen lives. He has navigated roles ranging from safety manager and hotel receptionist to actor and digital creator. Yet, amidst the unpredictable chaos of building a future from the ground up, one constant remains: the click-clack of a miniature board against a DIY obstacle.

Miguel discovered fingerboarding at 14 when a snack brand contest sparked a lifelong obsession. Alongside skateboarding, the hobby became his primary creative outlet. It was more than just flicking plastic; it was the catalyst for him to learn the arts of filming and editing. These technical skills eventually transformed his “just for fun” Instagram clips into a professional career characterized by a low, realistic, skate-inspired style.

The journey has been cinematic. Miguel recalls the surreal moment Mike Schneider reached out to him about joining Flatface. By a stroke of fate, Miguel was sitting in a café with a representative from Blackriver at that exact second, allowing for an immediate, scriptedfeeling “yes.” Today,

MIGUEL BUZÓN YUSTE

he proudly rides for Flatface and Vitium, two brands that represent both his childhood dreams and his deep-rooted community ties.

For Miguel, the heart of the culture is found in connection rather than competition. He has faced periods of burnout and mental exhaustion, filming in storage units late at night just to keep his passion alive. This drive led him to found “A MAROCHA,” an event dedicated to growing the local scene in southern Spain.

Whether he is eating a kebab in Mike Schneider’s Boston home or lobbying for a public fingerboard park in his hometown, Miguel remains focused on the future. He is an architect of the culture, proving that the most important thing you can build is a place for others to belong.

In the bustling cultural heart of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, Hilman Habibi has been immersed in art since his youth. This lifelong creative spark eventually led him to study at a local art university. There, he developed the technical eye for detail and structure that now defines his fingerboarding builds.

Hilman’s journey into the scene began in 2021 with a simple “Chinese” setup found on an online shopping app. However, after discovering the world of professional gear through the internet, he quickly realized that a more “proper” setup was necessary for progression. After sourcing parts from local shops, he found a setup that felt right. In fact, he still rides that same board today.

The Street in Miniature: Defining the Trotoars - The name of his masterpiece, the Trotoars Area, is deeply rooted in his home. In Indonesia, a trotoar is the word for a sidewalk or pavement. It is derived from the French word trottoir.

For Hilman, the trotoar is the ultimate canvas for street skating. His goal was to bring that raw, urban energy into a 1:8 scale world. What started as a hobby of welding rails from scrap metal and casting small concrete stairs evolved into a massive construction project. Hilman obsessed over the relationship between skateboard and fingerboard dimensions. He ultimately decided on a 1:8 scale to ensure every bench, ledge, and gap felt authentic to the touch.

A Living Urban Landscape: Inspired by real world skate spots and architectural documentation on social media, Hilman did not just build an obstacle. He built an environment. By incorporating a building background and realistic textures, the Trotoars Area creates the illusion of a real world street session.

While the core project was completed last year, the Trotoars Area remains a work in progress. Hilman continues to refine specific sections to ensure the materials and appearance are always evolving toward perfection.

THE TROTOARS AREA

Plies: What is your most memorable fingerboarding moment?

Hilman: For me, it is about the mental breakthrough. The most memorable part is finally completing a trick or a line that I had previously only been able to see in my mind.

Plies: What has been the most rewarding part of building the Trotoars Area?

Hilman: Every park I build has its own meaning. The materials and the appearance are always improving. It has also been incredibly memorable to share photos of my work on social media and receive such a positive response from the global community.

Plies: What does the future hold for your builds?

Hilman: Since I started this project, I have wanted to create obstacles for others to enjoy. In the future, I plan to release products like scale accurate seats, benches, and rails. This will allow other riders to add a piece of the Trotoar style to their own setups.

Hailing from Alliston, Ontario, Canada, Donovan Burleigh is a chill guy who defines himself as a full-time family man and a dedicated gearhead. He has a passion for anything on wheels. For Adison Cooper, fingerboarding is more than a nostalgic hobby. It is a masterclass in precision and a dedicated pursuit of art. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, Cooper is a handson builder who thrives on the satisfaction of turning raw materials into professional grade skate spots. While he first discovered the scene as a child, it was the global shutdown of 2020 that reignited his passion and revealed a creative void in the market that he was uniquely equipped to fill.

What began as an experiment with simple ramps and basic shapes has evolved into a sophisticated design philosophy. Cooper focuses on the intersection of flow, durability, and originality. He does not build objects just to exist. Instead, he constructs them to stand out. His current work reflects an intentional style that balances clean

construction with dynamic layouts, constantly pushing the limits of how a miniature park can challenge a rider’s imagination.

The journey of Tiny Ramp Co. is defined by resourcefulness. One of Cooper’s most memorable milestones involved delivering his first major park from Arizona to California with only fifty dollars in his pocket. This scramble of logistics and determination proved that passion can carry a project further than a massive budget ever could. Seeing the excitement of a client receiving a custom build made every hurdle worth the effort.

Today, Cooper is focused on refining his production methods while maintaining the soul of his brand. He is constantly testing new materials to streamline his process, yet his heart remains in custom commissions. Each park is tailored specifically to the client, ensuring that every piece is as unique as the person riding it. Supported by a diverse and encouraging global community, Adison Cooper continues to build the future of fingerboarding one transition at a time.

Living and working in his studio in Paris, France, Nairone Defives exists in a space that feels like a permanent childhood bedroom. As an artist and designer, he strives to stay connected to his inner child, escaping the seriousness of the adult world to maintain the sense of discovery he felt as a kid.

Nairone discovered fingerboarding through his daily life as a skateboarder. At nine years old, he found a small plastic fingerboard keychain and soon after discovered the 1999 Finger of Fury video. For him, fingerboarding was a way to bring the essence of skateboarding home at night. This passion grew alongside his art. By age 12, he was already diving into graffiti and creating custom stickers for his boards. Through total dedication to his craft, he turned these creative outlets into a lifelong career without ever needing a side job.

Plies: What is your most memorable fingerboarding story?

Nairone: Last October, I released my first skateboard edition. I transformed my entire studio and basement into

a contest space, building oversized skate modules shaped like giant studio tools. We held a fingerboard contest the following day. Customizing a G8 for the official event park was a major life goal. The French fingerboard community is so real and passionate. While it is not my main activity, it feels like a shared secret skill and a bond between incredible people.

Plies: Which art project stands out the most to you?

Nairone: Creating the entire skatepark for House of Vans Paris was a definitive highlight. It was a life-goal project that made me feel proud of all those years spent painting and never giving up on my vision.

What is Next?

Nairone is currently planning a special fingerboard capsule collection and collaborations with brands that match his artistic universe. On the art side, he is working on his first solo exhibition. This will be a complete experience rather than just paintings on canvas.

COMMUNITY ALERT

Counterfeit Knife Decks: Fake Knife decks have been spotted circulating on the secondary market. Buyers looking for used gear are strongly encouraged to verify sellers, inspect product details closely, and support trusted shops to avoid scams.

Operating internationally from Deggendorf, Germany, CRESKATE® is the brainchild of Dennis, a mechanical engineer and dedicated maker. Dennis is a man who loves building with his hands, a drive that carries over into his role as a father and a creator. While CRESKATE® began as a solo mission, it has grown into a collaborative effort supported by a small, passionate team including Johanna and Manu.

Dennis has been crafting fingerboards since his teenage years. His first attempt involved a hand-sanded wooden mold that produced crooked, barely rideable boards. Despite the flaws, the pride he felt in those early experiments planted the seeds for what would eventually become a world-renowned brand.

The Brand Story: Layer by Layer CRESKATE® was born from a simple realization: the process of making a deck is just as rewarding as riding one. Dennis wanted to move away from the “finished product” market and instead offer enthusiasts the tools to experience the DIY culture firsthand. By providing proper

molds, veneers, and tools, CRESKATE® allows riders to build professional-grade decks layer by layer from home.

What started as a side project quickly gained global momentum. A major turning point was exhibiting at the Nuremberg International Toy Fair, which transitioned the project into a professional, trademarked brand. The challenge was balancing accessibility for beginners with high-end tools for advanced makers. Today, their range spans from basic starter kits to the ProMold, a heavy-duty tool designed for hydraulic presses and smallscale production.

Plies: What stands out as your most memorable moment with the brand?

Dennis: It is seeing parents and children build their first boards together. In those moments, fingerboarding transcends tricks and becomes a shared creative experience. It confirms exactly why CRESKATE® exists.

Plies: How do you view your relationship with the riders and makers in the scene?

Dennis: We focus on makers who share a strong DIY mindset.

Seeing riders use our tools to create unique graphics and custom shapes is incredibly special. It is less about a single trick and more about the creativity people bring to the table when they are given the right equipment.

CRESKATE® plans to expand its lineup with new veneer sets and innovative DIY kits. The goal remains the same: to strengthen the maker community and encourage riders to truly understand the mechanics behind their setups.

Wayne Skabelund from Logan, Utah, is our Creator of the Month. Better known online as MintFB, Wayne blends his love for poetry, competitive

gaming, and content creation into his fingerboarding journey. Although he first watched fingerboarding videos back in 2009, he did not pick up a board until late 2024. Today, the hobby is a permanent fixture in his life.

MintFB was born from Wayne’s desire to share his passion through nostalgic, longform videos. Known for his popular unboxings and his “Mint Mumbles” series, his approach remains entirely organic. “My only goal has been to post what I want, when I want while forming friendships with others in the scene,” Skabelund explains. This authentic vibe quickly caught the eye of Ascetic, who currently sponsors him.

Community means everything to Wayne. He cherishes local Skatestation events and famously reconnected with an old college buddy over a random griptape order. Looking ahead through 2026, Wayne is expanding his creative output with Cache Decks, his own brand featuring unique floral aesthetics. Fans can expect fresh graphics and exciting collaborations rolling out all year.

REVIEWing USAFBL 1/2 Pyramid

Retail $119.99 (with Rail)

First Impressions: “That’s a Big One!” When I first unboxed the USAFBL 1/2 Pyramid, my first thought was immediate: this thing is massive. I’ve owned several wooden obstacles in the past, but this is in a completely different league. To put it in perspective, this single piece is larger than four or five of my other wooden obstacles combined.

The build quality is apparent the moment you touch it. We’re talking solid wood, tight seams, and perfect proportions. Unlike many wooden ramps that have a cheap, “clink-y” sound, this unit is fully enclosed. Because there are no openings, it lacks that annoying hollow echo; instead, it feels beefy, grounded, and premium.

The Session: Small Space, Big Performance I tested this solo on a relatively small indoor table, and despite the limited space, the 1/2 Pyramid put in work. Here is how it handled the heat:

Stability: This is a hefty piece. Once you set it down, it stays put. You aren’t going to be chasing this across the table mid-line.

Versatility: I was able to flow through bank transfers, rail slides, and grinds with ease.

The Rail: The integrated rail has a “strong” feel to it. It’s solid and inspires confidence when you’re locking in. My only minor critique is that the rail could use a quick polish out of the box to get it buttery smooth, but once that’s settled, it’s a dream to ride.

How It Compares: If you are used to standard “starter” wooden ramps, the USAFBL 1/2 Pyramid will be a wake-up call. It’s a pro-level obstacle designed for riders who prefer a park-style flow or those looking to build a serious focal point for their setup.

“If you’re a shop looking to start a table or a rider building a major league park, this is the piece you use to streamline the process of reaching a top-tier level.”

The Verdict: Is it worth it? Absolutely. If you snagged the early bird pricing, you got a steal. Even at full price, you’re paying for the craftsmanship and time it would take a DIYer forever to get right. This isn’t just a ramp; it’s an anchor for a professional park.

Who is it for? I’d recommend this to park riders and creators who are tired of lightweight, hollow obstacles. If you have the space to let this beast breathe, it will transform your session.

Final Thoughts: I saw the photos before it arrived, but I truly wasn’t ready for the scale and quality of the final product. USAFBL is doing great work here. I’m already looking forward to seeing the remaining parts of the table series—I’d love to see this thing mounted on an official USAFBL table to really give it the “royal treatment” it deserves.
