TERM 4 • 14 DECEMBER 2018 • VOLUME 313
From the Principal Mrs Nicola Taylor
As the 2018 School year draws to a close, we have much to be thankful for. Enrolments are sound, academic results strong, students actively engaged, a beautiful school environment and Guild Spirit palpable especially following the highly acclaimed Guild Drama, our final event for 2018. We know what we are thankful for, but why be thankful? We may have grown up being told that it’s good manners, the polite response. Research tell us that being thankful directly contributes to well-being and state of happiness. The Bible commands us to give thanks in all circumstances even ones of trial and difficulty.
Wishing the entire PLC Armidale community a blessed Christmas and joyful New Year! “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
The words ‘gratitude’ and ‘grace’ come from the Latin, gratus - meaning pleasing and thankful. Developing an attitude of gratitude is initially challenging, becoming a more natural response over time. The more thankful we are, the more thankful we become – noticing the things around us which we may have once taken for granted. As we celebrate this Christmas season, we have much to be thankful for, especially the true meaning and purpose of Christmas. The infant child, the son of God, the saviour and redeemer of the world. The source of the love, joy and peace continued which characterises a thankful heart and grateful life lived well. on Page 2...
