HERITAGE HOW TO
Heritage How-To is a series of classes where participants learn heritage skills with a modern twist.
Enjoy hands-on experiences like designing charcuterie boards, decorating cookies, arranging fresh flowers, crafting clay jewelry, or exploring embroidery. Each class is taught by friendly instructors who make learning easy and fun, no matter your skill level. It’s a relaxed, welcoming way to spend time with friends, pick up a new hobby, and take home something you’re proud of. With new classes added regularly, there’s always a fresh way to connect with creativity and tradition.

HERITAGE HALLOWEEN
Heritage Halloween, where costumes, candy, and history collide for a day of festive fun! Families can dress up in their spookiest, silliest, or most enchanting costumes and trick-or-treat through the museum and historic village, collecting goodies along the way.

WASSAIL WALK
Wassail Walk is a cozy Christmas stroll from the Heritage Center into downtown Frisco, where visitors can enjoy warm wassail, festive art, holiday treats, and cheerful activities. Surrounded by twinkling lights and a charming seasonal atmosphere, it’s a delightful way to experience the magic of the holidays.

FRISCO PUBLIC ART
ARTIST-LED WORKSHOPS
Public Art hosts many exciting art workshops for adults in collaboration with the Heritage Museum and Discovery Center. These workshops are led by working artists from the DFW area (and are either local to or have a connection to Frisco). They give the artists a platform to share their expertise and hone their teaching skills while offering the Frisco community an opportunity to learn niche artistic techniques or styles. We’ve had workshops in urban art, en plein air, acrylic techniques and photography and are currently planning our 2027 calendar.

The City of Frisco Public Art Program enhances the community by integrating artists' work into public spaces, civic infrastructure, and everyday places where people live, work, and play. With 67 pieces in the City's public art collection, residents and visitors can experience sculptures, murals, photography, and interactive installations that celebrate Frisco's culture, creativity, and growth. Anita Pauwels’ Military Surveyor represents the 1840 expedition headed by Colonel William Gordon Cooke that established a route from Austin to North Central Texas.

Stories from the Archives reimagines those overlooked trinkets and forgotten keepsakes from the Frisco Heritage Center archives by giving them new life through storytelling.

Join us for the 8th annual NRPA’s Parks for Pollinators event! Every Wednesday morning in September we will explore the remaining prairies of Frisco as we search for bees, beetles, butterflies, and more! Will Frisco be number one this year?
POLLINATOR PARADISE
CREATE A BIODIVERSE BACKYARD
Food: Providing a variety of food sources allows pollinators to have energy to navigate the urban enviroment.
Water: Establishing a water source ensures pollinators have drinking water and a place to bathe.
Nursery: All species need a safe place where their young can grow without being disturbed or threatened by predators.
Cover: Leaf litter and pithy stems provide shelter for pollinators to overwinter and escape the Texas heat.
BISON AND BLOSSOMS
TREE AND WILDFLOWER EVENT
Bison & Blossoms is a celebration of Frisco’s prairies and natural areas. Help celebrate Arbor Day by planting a new tree at Frisco Commons Park with the Frisco Garden Club and Frisco City Council in November. Explore a forest with a guided trail tour followed by a seed stomp that plants native wildflowers and grasses.

Join Master Naturalist Rick Travis for a relaxed morning walk at Frisco Commons Park every second Saturday. Discover local wildlife, native plants, and how Frisco’s natural spaces change with the seasons. The last nature adventure for 2026 is on November 14.

Northwest Community Park
Northwest Community Park is a precious community asset for Frisco and a destination for the wider region. Acres of restored and enhanced Blackland Prairie are a refuge for wildlife and an immersive retreat for visitors. Miles of trails for hikers, runners, and cyclists weave through the site, connecting playgrounds, splash pads, plazas, and gardens. Richly integrated interpretive and educational features inspire and inform the park’s visitors about the rare and rapidly-disappearing Blackland Prairie, the foundation and centerpiece of the 120-acre site.

Come skate with us! Learn how to skate or improve your skills with HipSkate Levels 1 and 2. Our certified instructors promote safety, fitness, and fun while you “learn by doing” with various moves and games. WHICH SWIM LEVEL IS RIGHT FOR MY CHILD?
Free swim assessments, completed by one of our certified swim instructors, evaluate a child's current water skills to determine which Learn to Swim level is best. Assessments are not required for Learn to Swim enrollment.
Two siblings may register together for the same assessment time. The assessment will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes. A swimsuit is required and goggles are strongly recommended.

LEARN TO SWIM CLASSES
Parent & Child
The purpose of the Parent and Child Aquatic program is to help young children become comfortable in and around the water so they are ready to learn to swim. While the class is designed to raise the comfort level of the child, it is also intended to educate the parent or caregiver in basic water skills so they are better equipped to aid in their child's aquatic education and ensure that their child stays safe in all water activities. Children two to three years will be introduced to equipment used in preschool lessons and will work with instructors on taking individual direction to help transition from parent and child to preschool swim classes.
Preschool
Proper swim wear is required. The earlier a child becomes comfortable in water, familiar with safety precautions, and introduced to the basics of beginner swimming, the better prepared they will be around pools, lakes, and other aquatic environments. The Preschool class will teach the fundamentals of water safety, buoyancy, breath control, swimming on front and back, changing direction and water entry and exit. This class will be divided into three separate skill groups (beginner, intermediate and advanced).
Level 1
The objectives of Level 1 are for students to be comfortable with swimming on their front and back for 10 to 15 seconds. Students will learn to glide on their front and back for 3 to 5 of their own body lengths, front and back streamline with kicks up to 5 body lengths, rolling over from front-to-back and back-to-front, and independently get 4 breaths while traveling. Safe swimming practices will be taught at every lesson.
Level 2
The objective of Level 2 is for students to propel themselves unsupported on their front and back using coordinated arm and leg action (front crawl and back crawl). They will also learn to front and back float and recover to a vertical position without support. Treading water and rotary/side breathing are also introduced.
Level 3
To enroll in this level, students must be able to demonstrate the skills listed in Level 2 without assistance. The objective of Level 3 is to continue improvement on front crawl with rotary/side breathing, back crawl, and treading water. Students will also be introduced to and are expected to master: elementary backstroke, dolphin kick, and breaststroke kick.
Level 4
To enroll in this level, students must be able to demonstrate the skills listed in Level 3. The objective of this level is to continue improvement on the front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, and treading water. In addition, students will be introduced to and are expected to

master the timing/coordination for the breaststroke and butterfly. Students will also learn compact jumps and demonstrate swimming 25 yards.
Level 5
To enroll in this level, students must be able to show competency in breathing and execution of all four major strokes (front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, and butterfly) as well as the elementary backstroke. The objective of this level is to continue improvement on the front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Students will be swimming distances up to and exceeding 50 yards to refine each stroke over a water depth of 8 feet. This level will introduce flip turns, open turns, sidestroke, and expand on personal water safety tips.
Level 6
To enroll in this level, students must be able to show an effective and proficient stroke as well as the appropriate turns in the following: freestyle 75 yards, backstroke 50 yards, breaststroke 50 yards and butterfly 25 yards. Students should also be prepared to show mastery of the elementary backstroke, side stroke, and surface dives. The objective of Level 6 is to refine the four major strokes. Students will combine strokes and turns in order to swim with more ease, efficiency, and build endurance over longer distances.
Level 7 Skill Clinic
Registration held through Mike Taylor at 972-292-6629. Level 7 “Skill Clinic” A two-month long clinic that focuses on skills related to the preparation of joining a swim team. Students must have passed Level 6 or attended a summer swim team. Focus will be on effective and efficient 100 yards Freestyle, Backstroke, 75 yards Breaststroke, and 50 yards Butterfly to register. Skills learned will include: Open & Flip Turns, Individual Medley Transitions, Stroke breakouts and pullouts, Starts, Time Clock use & sets, and more!
Teen
This class is for those teens that did not have the opportunity to take swim lessons when they were younger. In a class setting of your peers, you will learn basic competitive strokes and safety/resting strokes that will build your confidence and abilities in, on and around the water.
Adult
Each student’s experience in the water may range from no formal training, a desire to increase stroke proficiency, or a need to gain knowledge in aquatics for training purposes. This class will teach the fundamentals of water safety, buoyancy, breath control, front crawl with rotary/side breathing, and more. Participants should come to class with goals in mind on what they want to achieve during the session.

DANCE STUDIO
Host your next class, rehearsal, or performance in our versatile dance studio featuring seating for up to 100, a sprung wood floor, production-quality lighting, mobile mirrors, and barres. Home to regular classes from Inishfree Irish Dance, Just Dance, and more!
ART GALLERIES
The City's art galleries display stunning art exhibitions that can be enjoyed for free! The Grand Gallery showcases exhibitions curated by Play Frisco staff, and the Community Gallery shines with exhibitions by and for the community.

FRISCO HERITAGE CENTER
GUIDED TOURS
Guided tours bring visitors through the Museum, the Smith-Muse House, the Crozier-Sickles House, and the Lebanon Baptist Church. You’ll learn the historical significance of the buildings, get a taste of what life was like in Frisco when they were built, and hear the incredible stories of the pioneers who lived and gathered in them. You'll also discover a steam locomotive, a blacksmith shop, a one-room schoolhouse, and even a log cabin!

COURSE WITHDRAWAL & TRANSFER POLICY
Withdrawal Request:
• Withdrawal requests will only be considered if received before the course/camp start date, excluding requests for medical reasons, which are subject to the Medical Policy. Approved withdrawals will be refunded according to the Refund Policy.
Transfer Request:
• Transfer requests will only be considered if received before the course/camp start date, excluding requests for medical reasons, which are subject to the Medical Policy.
• Requested transfer class must have open availability and be in the current Play Frisco Guide.
• If transfer course is not available, and the participant chooses to withdraw from the class, request is subject to Withdrawal Policy above.
If transfer is to a higher-priced class, the price difference must be paid before transfer can be completed.
If transfer is to a lower-priced class, the price difference is applied as account credit.
Medical Withdrawal and Transfer Requests:
• Written documentation from a physician’s office must accompany the Withdrawal or Transfer Request.
• Request form must be received within 72 hours of the first missed class. Refund will be prorated if the withdrawal is submitted on or after the course start date and refund is subject to the Refund Policy.
REFUND POLICY
• Please check PlayFrisco.org for the most up-to-date refund policies.
• Approved withdrawal participants may select one of following refund methods: FAC Account Credit – Refund is placed on the account of the original payer. Credit Card Refund – Refund may only be processed if original payment was made online or in-person with credit card to be refunded.
Withdrawals submitted after a course/camp has started may be subject to a 20% processing fee.
Check Refund – Refund may be subject to a 20% processing fee. If refund method preference is not selected, withdrawals will be refunded to the original payment method. If original payment method is not possible, refund will be sent to account credit.
• All refund checks will be mailed in approximately four weeks to the address of the primary on the account.
All account credits and refunds are subject to approval by the Parks & Recreation Department and subject to the applicable proration and processing fees. AUGUST 1 - Residents & FAC Members
Refunds on payments made by check will be held 30 days past the initial purchase date before being submitted for processing.
Under no circumstances will a cash refund be provided.
FAC account credits are good for one year from the date of issue.
