PARTNERING FOR SUCCESS: TISD PRACTICUM LEADS TO CAREER OPPORTUNITY

AhugeshoutouttoourFleetServicesteamandeveryone involvedintheFleetAutomotivePracticumforhelpingcreate real,lastingimpact highlightedperfectlythroughthesuccess ofDavidCastillo.

Davidparticipatedinour secondyearoftheFleet AutomotivePracticumwith TempleHighSchool,a partnershipwithTISDthat continuestoopendoorsfor studentsinourcommunity.After graduating,Davidwashired full-timewithourFleetServices Division—turninghands-on learningintoacareerrighthere withtheCityofTemple.

Thisyear,David returnedtospeakwith theincomingpracticum class,sharinghisstory andinspiringfuture technicians.His experiencesaysitall:

“Ie etPracticum.Thebestpart wa hmeasweshadowed the nds-onexperiencethat rea nician.Theenvironment wasgreat,andeveryonewasfriendly.Ievengotadditional experiencewithheavy-dutyequipmentandininventory,which gavemeabetterperspectiveonhowaFleetDepartment operates.Sincegraduation,Iwashiredimmediatelyandlook forwardtotransitioningtoafull-timeemployeesoon.Myfavorite partofmyjobisrepairingthecityassetsthathelpeach departmentmaintaintheCityofTemple,TX,whereIwasbornand raised.”

TempleParksandRecreationsAquaticsDivisionisbuilton teamwork,safety,andservice butbehindthescenes,there’sone personwhoseexpertisekeepsitallflowingsmoothly:KarlReigle, PoolCrewLeader.Karl’simpactreacheseverycornerofour aquaticssystem.Overseeingtwofull-timetechniciansandthe operationsoffivemajorfacilities—includingayear-roundindoor pool,alargeseasonalwaterpark,threeoutdoorpools,foursplash pads,andtwohottubs Karlensureseachspaceissafe, functional,andreadyforthecommunitytoenjoy.Thousandsof residentsrelyonthesefacilitieseachyear,andthankstoKarl’s meticulousoversight,theycandiveinwithconfidence.

Hisdeepknowledgeofmechanical systems,electricalwork,plumbing, andchemicalmaintenancemakes himthedepartment’sgo-toproblemsolver.Karldoesn’tjustfixissues—he preventsthem.Hisproactive approachallowsprograms,events, andrecreationopportunitiestothrive withoutinterruption.

ButwhattrulysetsKarlapartis hisleadership.Heempowers aquaticsstaffbyproviding training,sharingexpertise,and steppinginwhereverhe’s needed.Hismentorship strengthensnotjustoperations, butthepeoplewhosupport them.Karl’sinformalbut meaningfultrainingstylehelps buildconfidenceandtechnical skillacrosstheteam.

ArcofBellCounty’shostedits3 annualFallFestivalatWilsonPark RecreationCenter,Thursday, November13.Guestsparticipatedin carnivalstylegamesincludingaxe throwing,PLINKO,andjumbo“darts”. Theyenjoyedmusicandfriendly competitionandhadfunwithacake walkforfabulousprizes.Arcalso hostsFunNightsatWilsonevery Thursdayforthe18-pluspopulation inBellCountywithintellectualand developmentaldisabilities.

CELEBRATING SUCCESS AT THE 14TH ANNUAL CORPORATE CHALLENGE

OnOctober25 the14 Annualcityof TempleCorporatechallengewrappedup aftertwomonthsofcompetitionin13 sports.Atotalof23companies participatedwithatotalof2308 employeesjoiningthefun.

ThisyearTexellwoninDivisionIwith714 pointsandPDIwoninDivision2with1041 points.ThankstoJoshLaudig,Summit RecreationManagerandLeDeaHarris, SummitProgramCoordinator,whospent countlesshourspreparingforandrunning thiseventat13differentvenuesovereight weeks.Theywereassistedbyasupporting castofParksandRecreationstaffwho werecriticaltothesuccessofthis program. Goodjobandthankyoutoallwhoworked onthisevent!
