Dutch naval architecture studio Mulder Design has unveiled
Project Opal, a striking 70-metre yacht concept that marries high-speed performance with the relaxed luxury of a villa. The design pairs Mulder’s successful cruising hull, capable of exceeding hull speed by up to 30%, with an interior philosophy that blurs the line between seafaring vessel and coastal sanctuary. The exterior styling emphasises calm, elegant lines that echo the flow of waves and clouds, avoiding passing trends while still remaining contemporary. summer homes, where weathered wood, rough stone, and natural linens create a sense of villa authenticity infused with nautical sophistication. A kinetic pergola on the main deck produces shifting light patterns, connecting guests to everyday rhythms.
The layout features six guest cabins forward on the main deck, a saloon and dining area aft, a forward owner’s suite on the upper deck with optional sky lounge, and a top-deck wheelhouse with a sundeck and concealed observation area.
