ts volumes and an exciting interaction between interiors and exteriors are the two features that immediately strike those setting foot on board the Maiora 30 Walkaround, a yacht inspired by the on-going research carried out by the Next Yacht Group yard with its team of interior and exterior designers. The yacht is 30 metres long with a 7.5 metre beam. The inter-deck height of 2.20 metres ensure enhanced liveability and functionality, while a versatility that generates dynamic, never static spaces means there is an even greater emphasis on comfort. The designers’ aim was to shape a lifestyle that also extends to the yacht’s marine environment, with the sea playing a crucial role. The clean, soberly elegant furnishings in neutral colours and select natural materials inside and out help create a balanced, harmonious stylistic continuity. The three decks are connected by external stairs fore and aft, providing the infrastructure for a smooth, natural flow of on-board movement and interaction. One very striking element is the infinite flybridge, 120 square metres of open-air space hosting a series of open, sun-filled spaces fore and aft with loungers, conversation areas and shaded areas sheltered by a light, dynamic hard top. There is also a bar and open-air dining area. Wide side walkways connect the bow and stern spaces. The designers have succeeded in integrating the flybridge into the yacht’s sleek profile without compromising its taut lines and sporty look. Guests stepping aboard are immediately welcomed by a sophisticated cockpit furnished with freestanding elements by Talenti – the sofa, armchairs and coffee table are all finished in teak, and the two lamps have a timeless geometric design. A few steps separate this space from the aft deck, a spacious sea-level terrace with a deep horseshoe-shape sofa facing the sea. In the main-deck saloon huge full-height windows open out onto the spectacular view – the slender balustrades do not intrude on the visual contact with the sea. The style is refined and contemporary, warm and welcoming, reminiscent of an exclusive villa. A large marble-topped Poltrona Frau table precedes a relaxation/TV/cinema room with soft furnishings again by Poltrona Frau, including the Archibald, an icon leather armchair with a classic elegance. A fully concealed ”infinity” glass door sets up a dialogue between the saloon and cockpit, each becoming an extension of the other. When it’s open, it transforms the dining area into an alfresco space. The choice of a raised wheelhouse on an intermediate level between the main and sun decks has left the designers free to revamp the spatial layout, creating a full-height owner’s suite forward of the saloon. Its long, wide windows provide a breath-taking view of the sea. Four guest cabins are located on the lower deck, and the crew quarters can accommodate up to five people. The yacht’s dimensions also mean there is ample room for a side-opening garage housing a tender over six metres long, and as there is more than two metres of headspace there’s plenty of scope for stowing a wide selection of water toys. The space further forward is used for storing all kinds of marine gear in a two-metre high locker with dual access so that guests can enjoy an uncluttered deck. The forward section also hosts a large stowage space that is home to a full-size jet ski that can be launched and recovered with a retractable crane. The Maiora 30 Walkaround has a draft of just two metres, enabling it to navigate shallow waters, and is powered by two traditional MTU units pushing out 2000 Hp each, giving the yacht a top speed of 23 knots. he main elements driving the study and design of the Maiora 30 Walkaround were a commitment to using extreme versatility and layout modularity to provide great freedom of use, as well as a desire to create taut, attractive lines, a sporty, sensual profile and interconnected spaces. The Maiora 30’s “Walkaround” designation derives from the fact that guests can enjoy the fore and aft sections of the flybridge without interruption by using the side walkways and large exterior surfaces, with no interposed structural element. It’s a unique feature that opens up an area of 120 square metres from stern to bow with no intervening stairs or steps. The yacht has a raised helm station and an open stern making room for a fully-equipped beach area that’s ready to be enjoyed. The forward section has also been designed to create a sleek, distinctive profile with a Portuguese bridge whose size is unique in this category. The side-opening garage hosts a tender over six metres long, again unique in this category and for boats up to 40 metres in length, as well as every toy guests can desire. garage in the bows for a full-size jet ski that can be launched and recovered with a hidden crane, plus a two-metre high locker with dual access for the discreet stowage of marine equipment. Finally, it’s possible to enjoy the yacht’s exterior spaces without obstacles or space limitations. My favourite
area is the sun deck, which will take everyone’s breath away. Quite frankly, there isn’t another one like it on the market. When you climb the aft stairs you feel you’ve been given privileged access to the rooftop terrace of an exclusive hotel, exquisitely Italian and with a romantic feel.

A
n elegance that is sophisticated without tending to minimalism and an atmosphere that puts guests at their ease, communicating serenity and warmth – these were the specifications outlined in the brief we worked from. Maiora 30 Walkaround was created to provide owners with a 30-metre craft with much larger volumes than yachts of a similar length and equal or greater headroom than that offered by larger designs. On this yacht we’ve emphasised the concept of volume while maintaining open environments that are easy to make use of and where the furnishings enhance the space’s dimensions rather than cluttering their surroundings. These free, flowing spaces are always full of natural light, creating a seductive, comfortable feeling that surrounds guests as they gradually discover a yacht that’s decidedly bigger than its 30 metre length would suggest. The underlying theme of the entire design is the connection, the interaction between indoor and outdoor spaces, sheer fun and total relaxation. The raised position of the bridge is a distinctive features that enabled us to retain a sleek exterior line and make the best use of the available interior volumes. It also allowed us to transform the entrance to the owner’s suite into a full-height luminous screen, emphasising the importance of the space. We build custom yachts, all different because all our clients have their own requirements. For this model we chose a palette of warm colours – the soft grey of the wood blends perfectly with the beige ceilings and leather, creating an elegant interaction with the different dove greys of the furnishings and the brown flooring. A large part of the furnishings, from the beds to the storage units, Calacatta marble washbasins and exterior furniture were designed entirely in-house. Some pieces, like the TV unit or the storage modules in the saloon are integrated with iconic products by our partner Poltrona Frau, although they have been modified to meet our needs. Poltrona Frau also supplied all the interior chairs and sofas. Other important partners like K-array and Samsung collaborated with us on technical aspects to develop original solutions that go together to create a unique on-board experience.

nchanting, light-filled, functional, the Maiora 30 Walkaround is our interpretation of the “Mediterranean” type craft, full of light throughout, with huge spaces and exterior solutions enabling guests to enjoy the sun and sea, traditional propulsion and the sophisticated Maiora taste in every detail. This superyacht’s basic underlying concept, in line with the Next Yacht Group DNA, is to offer a new dimension of customisation. This includes not only the layout, decor, engines and list of options but a modularity developed in the product planning stage enables owners to select from the different stern, superstructure and top deck modules to construct their own interpretation of on-board life and spatial configuration. The Maiora 30 Walkaround is the sister of the Maiora 30 Convertible: the same naval platform with 7.5 metre beam, sideopening garage and net inter-deck height of over 2.20 metres, but with a more Mediterranean emphasis, greater exterior functionality and no compromise in the volumes and interior comfort. Put simply, spaces, heights and carrying capability of a yacht one size larger with light, glamour, technology and innovative solutions throughout. The project’s basic ingredients were a readiness to listen to input from owners and Maiora enthusiasts, technical creativity, the sophisticated taste of the interior designers and the intention to use modularity to create a unique product for a select number of passionate owners. As always there was no shortage of technical and construction challenges. Take, for example, being able to provide 15% of tonnage more in relation to the length while remaining a leader in terms of performance, even with traditional propulsion, inventing modularity without running the risks of pure custom and finally, interpreting market trends like light-filled interiors, contact with the sea, comfort and lifestyle with proposals that are always original and intensely appealing.
