LAMPATA POLL MERINOS INTERPRETATIONS
ASBV’s YWT Animals with more positive WT ASBVs produce progeny that grow quicker and are heavier at a certain age. YEMD Animals with more positive ASBVs for EMD will produce progeny that have more muscle, independent of weight, and a higher lean meat yield. YFAT Animals with more negative FAT ASBVs produce progeny that are leaner. YCFW Animals with a higher clean Fleece weight (CFW) ASBVs will produce progeny that cut more wool. YFD Animals with more negative FD ASBVs produce progeny which are finer YFDCV Animals with lower FDCV ASBVs will produce progeny with lower variation in fibre diameter.
LAMPATA PHYSICAL TRAITS WEIGHT Body Weight Comf. Percentage of fibres finer than 30 microns in a sample CV Expresses the standard deviation as a percentage of the mean diameter SD Indicates how narrow or wide the distribution of fibre diameter FD Fibre diameter expressed in Microns GFW Greasy fleece weight in KG March Shorn 5.5mth wool SM Index Based on a flock where the income from meat and wool are balanced. Focuses on genetic improvement of CFW, growth, lean meat yield and reproduction. ML Index Based on a flock where the majority of income is from sheep meat production. Focuses on genetic improvement of CFW, growth and lean meat yield, and reproduction. A focus has also been placed on reducing wrinkle.
Lampata will be offering stock surplus to breeding requirements at the Lameroo off-shears sale on 9th October 2026. The main line of these will be our annual draft of 1.5 yo ewes. Enquiries are always welcome!
