Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that owns and operates the historic Pioneer Center in downtown Reno. Since 1968, we have been providing northern Nevada with a premier venue for world-class arts experiences right here at home. Envisioning a community that is connected, enriched, and inspired through the power of live performance, our mission and purpose are made greater when forming strategic partnerships with other businesses across a variety of industries.
From vibrant downtown events to impactful education initiatives across the region, sponsoring a Pioneer Center program strengthens the local arts ecosystem, improving quality of life and the local economy throughout our community.
As a Pioneer Center Program Sponsor, your organization is recognized through prominent visibility in marketing materials, playbills, lobby displays, social media, event signage, and exclusive invitations. Your corporate partnership with the Pioneer Center ensures the performing arts remain a vital and accessible resource for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

“The arts activity creates thousands of direct and indirect jobs and generates billions in government and business revenues. The arts also makes our cities destinations for tourists, help attract and retain businesses, and play an important role in the economic revitalization of cities and the vibrancy of our neighborhoods.”

Pioneer Center Youth Programs (PCYP) brings live, educational performances of music, dance, and theater to urban and rural elementary and middle schools, public libraries, & community centers across 9 northern Nevada counties and the eastern California Sierras. Our curated roster of artists, made up of both local and national touring groups, incorporates K-6 curriculum into their performances and create individual study guides for teachers to use in the classroom before and after a school assembly.
National artists also conduct master class workshops for high school and college performing arts students during their one-week program residencies. First established six decades ago, PCYP is our flagship educational outreach program, serving an average of 25,000+ children and families at 95 performances each year, often making the arts more accessible for rural and Title 1 schools. All patrons attend for free!

Sometimes a moment of inspiration can spark a career! Behind the Curtain was launched in 2022 as an immersive way to bring local performing arts students and teachers into direct contact with Broadway professionals who come to the Pioneer Center while on tour. These educational events include performance workshops with cast members, talkbacks with touring crew and company managers, observations of a show’s technical load-in process, and opportunities to shadow stage management teams backstage during a performance.
Hundreds of northern Nevada students take part in Behind the Curtain programming 4-6 times per season. Helping to build the next generation of working theater professionals is an investment in the future of the Pioneer Center itself.

“I was surprised to hear how many light cues there are in a show and that someone programs all those cues as a job.”
High School Student, Damonte Ranch High School
“This is so valuable for my students! Many came away with the experience of feeling like working in a theatre is viable.”
Rod Hearn, Damonte Ranch High School Drama Teacher
“Seeing TINA: The Tina Turner Musical and its creative process unfold backstage was truly fascinating. It has inspired me to keep achieving my goals no matter the trials, so that I too can be a part of something so wonderful. Thank you for this transformative experience.”
