a message from Susan Matura Elder for Stewardship
“I
am full of joy and abounding in thanksgiving after seeing our congregation respond to the needs of our church community. This Stewardship season I am excited to Press On in faith with you as we continue to assess our needs and dream of our future here at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church.
Lately I have been reflecting on what it means to Press On in Faith. Life is often like a climb—sometimes steady, sometimes steep—but always worth it when we pause to see where we’ve been and where God is leading us.
For me, Pinnacle Presbyterian Church has been part of that climb. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed, loved, and seen. Over the years, this community has given me strength and encouragement for the journey of faith. Becoming a member gave me not only a spiritual home, but also the joy of walking alongside others as disciples—sharing both the climb and the elation of reaching new heights together.
When I think about pressing on in faith at Pinnacle, I see a future where our ministries are fully staffed, our mission partners are abundantly supported, our foundation is strong, and our leaders are free to dream boldly with us. I see us shining as a beacon in our community—unique, welcoming, and full of light. As disciples, this is what we do: we give, we grow, we shine. Together, with God’s help, the summit is ahead.
In Christ, Elder Susan Matura
a message from The Rev. Erik P. Khoobyarian
Senior Pastor & Head of Staff
I am grateful, excited, and inspired by both what has been and what is to come at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church. And I come before you with a renewed invitation to continue the journey in our shared ministry.
The theme for this campaign is Press On, and I love this sentiment of being motivated by faith to do what it takes to further Pinnacle’s mission. Looking back on the past year, as a result of the generosity of Pinnacle’s supporters, our ministry has continued to thrive.
I have been encouraged as your pastors and staff, together with church leaders, have developed programs designed to help us all connect, grow, and serve through music, education, worship, and fellowship. More importantly, though, it makes me overwhelmed to think about the joy that is permeating our shared ministry at Pinnacle. I hope you feel that joy.
Last year during our stewardship campaign we shared a new vision for the financial future of our church. Our goal was simple: to increase pledged giving over a two-year period to support a balanced budget.
I could not be more excited to provide this update and continuation of the vision. This past fiscal year ended on June 30, 2025, with nearly $300,000 in income over expenses. This overage from increased pledges, unpledged giving, and Employee Retention Credits (part of the pandemic relief), as well as lower-than-budget expenses, enabled the Session to set aside funds for major repairs and improvements to the aging campus. As a result of a significant estate gift, the Session was also able to contribute $300,000 to the Pinnacle Presbyterian
Church Foundation. (Early in 2026 you’ll have an opportunity to learn more about how you can support the Foundation directly (you can also visit pinnaclepres.org/foundation at any time), but what a joy it is to celebrate this important contribution now!)
Here’s where the vision continues. Now is the time for us to Press On toward pledged giving sufficient to support our ministry goals. We made substantial progress in the 2025 stewardship campaign with 25 new pledges, pledges increasing by an average of 20%, and total pledges reaching nearly $2,000,000.
This year we can close the gap with an increase in pledges of at least $450,000 or 20%. In order to meet this goal, we need everyone to consider whether they might be able to increase their pledges or make a pledge for the first time. The goal is not modest and requires significant increases in giving from those who are able to do so. We also recognize that many in the church are already giving generously and significantly and unable to increase giving, and we are grateful for your support.
Again, I’m excited for where we have been and for what is to come. With consistent financial footing, our church leaders will be able to devote more funds to local and global mission efforts. We will be able to ensure that our campus is maintained well into the future. We will continue to staff our ministries for growth. Most of all, we will be able to dream about the future. I’ll be honest … I’m already dreaming. I hope you are, too.
