Lord, you are our dwelling place. In you, we find our rest. Gather us in under the shelter of your wing. Settle our souls and calm our minds, that we may worship you this day in joy and peace. Amen.

One: The Lord is our dwelling place in all generations.
Many: Before the mountains were brought forth,

PRAYER OF THE DAY
Loving Lord, your commandments are simple: love God, love neighbor, love self. Yet we struggle to muster that love. Love for you seems abstract and distant. Love for neighbor seems impractical and draining. Love for self seems impossible and unimportant. Forgive us for our short-sighted inability to love. Forgive us for believing that love is too strange, or too hard, or too inconsequential. Shower us with your love, so we might have the greatest example.

In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve. With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.
