One: This is the day that the Lord has made. Many: Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

CALL TO WORSHIP

One: The psalmist tells us if we will but wait, God will whisper hope to us. Do you believe this?

Many: We believe God's Word is not a parched dream but the river of love that flows forever!

One: Paul reminds us that it is foolishness to think only of ourselves and our wants. Do you believe this?

Many: We believe that when we pay attention to God, we will find joy, peace, love!

One: Jesus calls us to walk in the light, so we will not continue to stumble over our sin. Do you believe this?

Many: We believe he is the one who leads us out of the valley of despair and into the kingdom of hope and life!

One: Let us worship God!

† PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Like the disciples, Holy One, we drag our feet when it comes to following you. You would have us face conflict, and we prefer to look the other way. You would lead us into those hopeless valleys where so many of your children live, and we would despair in our abundance. You would bring us into peace and reconciliation, but we would stay entombed in our unforgiveness and fears. Forgive us, Creator of new lives. As your breath brought life to dry bones, animate our bodies for hope-filled living. As Lazarus was brought forth from the grave, unbind every worry which keeps us from living as your children. As Jesus was raised from the tomb into the joy of resurrection, fill us with the power to walk in the light of this hope. As Jesus offers us the life and resurrection we need, help us believe the good news which comes from our Lord and Savior.

The Apostles' Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. The flowers at the pulpit are given in praise and thanksgiving for all Pine Street Church musicians by David Colestock.

The Rev. Dr. Kent Carter currently serves as a full-time chaplain with Asana Hospice in Harrisburg, PA. Before joining this hospice team, Kent served the Progress-Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Carlisle Presbytery for almost 12 years. Kent celebrated 25 years of ordained ministry last month. Kent enjoys being married, Dad to three children, hiking, biking, gardening, traveling, BBQing, and brewing.

COVID-19 UPDATE

In the past few weeks, Central Pennsylvania counties have reached a high positivity rate of COVID 19 transmission. In compliance with The PA Dept of Health, the session recommends that all individuals, no matter their vaccination status, wear masks in public indoor settings where there is a substantial or high transmission rate. Session asks worshipers to comply with these guidelines in consideration of the well-being of children, the immunocompromised, and others who are not eligible to receive the vaccine.
