Carl P. Daw, Jr. We have come at Christ’s bidding to this high and holy place, where we wait with hope and longing for some token of God’s grace. Here we pray for new assurance that our faith is not in vain, searching like those first disciples for a sign both clear and plain. Strengthened by this glimpse of glory, fearful lest our faith decline, we, like Peter, find it tempting to remain and build a shrine. But true worship gives us courage to proclaim what we profess, that our daily lives may prove us, people of the God, we bless.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy God, though you lovingly tend us, we have not put forth the good fruits of your Spirit. Our consumption poisons the earth. Our violence threatens our neighbors. Our greed exploits the poor. We must seem a waste of time. Please don’t give up on us, O God. In your power to abundantly pardon, forgive us for the sake of Christ, and grant us love, peace, goodness, and faithfulness.

COVID STATEMENT

Pine Street Presbyterian Church will follow CDC guidelines to ease masking requirements and allow in-person gatherings, including food. While Dauphin and Cumberland Counties are in the low or medium community levels (according to the CDC’s “COVID-19 by County” pagefound at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/covid-bycounty.html), masks will be optional for all Pine Street events, including worship. Session and staff will monitor the community levels and change health and safety guidelines if the local counties are high. Worshipers are welcome to wear masks if that helps them feel comfortable in worship.
