† PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Patient and loving God: How often you have spoken to your people, and we have closed our ears because the words disturbed us. How often you have given new vision, and we have closed our eyes for lack of courage to see new vistas. How often you have nudged us to risk, and we have turned aside missing divine opportunities. Forgive us when we assume we already know the scriptures, the prayers, the creeds. Forgive us for allowing familiarity to dull the prophetic impact of your Word. Give us open minds and hearts that your freely moving Spirit may transform our lives. Amen. †
