Third Sunday After Pentecost
O God, light of the minds that know you, life of the souls that love you, strength of the thoughts that seek you: help us to know you that we may truly love you. In truly loving you grant that we may fully serve you, whose service is perfect freedom. This we pray through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever. Amen.

One: What shall we return to the Lord for the bounty given to us?
Many: We will offer to God our thanksgiving and praise. In all things we will praise the Lord.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
O Lord our God, you call us and send us out into the world as agents of your love. By your spirit, you give us the power to heal, bring hope, comfort and restore. Even so, we remain silent in the presence of evil and choose to live self-interested lives that ignore the needs of others. Forgive us, Holy One. Turn us to your will by the power of your Spirit so that all may know your justice and peace; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Savior, Amen.

A wandering Aramean was my ancestor; he went down into Egypt and lived there as an alien, few in number, and there he became a great nation, mighty and populous. When the Egyptians treated us harshly and afflicted us, by imposing hard labor on us, we cried to the Lord, the God of our ancestors; the Lord heard our voice and saw our affliction, our toil, and our oppression. The Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with a terrifying display of power, and with signs and wonders; and he brought us into this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey. So now I bring the first of the fruit of the ground that you, O Lord, have given me.
