Brad Shupe, General Manager

“Life is Better at The Island” is a phrase I heard this month, and I thought there’s no better way to start my monthly letter to all of you. Yes, we have golf, swimming, and fun activities. But most of all, we have a fun, vibrant, and kind Membership that makes every experience here better Keep taking care of each other and know that my staff truly appreciates the opportunity to serve you.

We definitely have some madness planned for you this March. Mother Nature is finally cooperating and Jim has the golf course ready to come out of winter and have a great spring We are back to tee times on the weekends and we are just days away from turning our clocks forward to gain an extra hour for twilight golf. Speaking of twilight golf, this is your last chance to sign up for the Wednesday Night League I honestly think it’s the most enjoyable program we have at Pine Island.

As you know, golf is only part of the fun on the island. We are very excited to add Birthday Night to our monthly calendar I encourage

you to look for the details in this newsletter, but basically everyone who has a March birthday is eligible for a free dinner on Thursday, March 26th. We will have food stations and entertainment to celebrate your special day. Of course, we hope you don’t come alone, so please bring a bunch of friends and celebrate at your club Birthday night will be the last Thursday of every month, so everyone will get a turn.

While we are on events that repeat every month, I know most of you enjoy a glass of wine. And free wine always taste just a little bit better We offer complementary wine tasting on the second Thursday of every month and hope you put this event on your “can’t miss” calendar.

Lastly, I hope I see everyone at our Annual Membership Meeting There are more details in this newsletter and in future emails, but please join us on Sunday, March 15th at 4 PM. My team and I will all be there and anticipate great input for opportunities to get better in 2026.

I look forward to seeing you at your club!

Construction will begin on Monday, March 9th, and we plan to have the new roof completed by the end of the week.

We do not anticipate any interruption to our course or golf activities

My name is Brandon, and I'm thrilled to join the team as your new Director of Membership.

Since 2021, I've had the privilege of serving in similar roles at private clubs in Southern California and Philadelphia, experiences that have deepened my passion for both the club community and the game we all love.

Like many of you, golf is more than just a pastime for me-it's a true passion. I was fortunate enough to play around the world in 2024, and I've been grateful to build my career within this incredible industry for more than five years.

I couldn't be more excited to be here in Charlotte and to be part of Pine Island Our club has a bright future ahead, and I'm honored to play a role in shaping it I look forward to meeting each of you and hopefully sharing a round together soon. See you around the club!

MEET OUR NEW MEMBERS

Gary & Sue Hamilton

Hello, I am Gary and my wife is Sue. We joined the club because I have become weary of the challenges of playing golf on public courses and we were both ready for a new experience.

We both enjoy hiking and volunteer at a local nonprofit close to our home. In addition, Sue plays pickleball and I enjoy riding my mountain bike.

March aerification is approaching quickly! This year will be similar to last spring, utilizing a 3/8” tine. Our goal is always to remove as much organic material as possible while still ensuring a timely recovery and getting members back on the course quickly. Aerification is one of the best tools we have to reduce organic matter, improve water infiltration, enhance nutrient uptake, and promote firmer, healthier greens.

As we roll into April, we will begin applying iron to all fairways to encourage a quicker greenup. This will be followed by a wall-to-wall application of poly-coated fertilizer. The quickrelease nitrogen will stimulate early growth, while the poly coating provides a slow, steady release of nutrients throughout the season to maintain plant health and consistent playing conditions.

The team is doing great. We have made a few staffing updates and are excited to introduce Dwayne Evans as our new Horticulturist and Lon Hartnett as our new Assistant Superintendent, working alongside Bryan Parker. Our continued goal is to provide excellent course conditions while enhancing the overall clubhouse experience for our members.

As always, our team would like to thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you out on the course!

Winter Vibes! Winter Vibes!

As of February 2026, Charlotte, NC, recently experienced its largest snowstorm in over 20 years, with 11.4 inches recorded at Charlotte Douglas Airport over Jan 31–Feb 1, 2026. This historic event ranks as the 6th-largest snowfall on record, surpassing the 2004 storm. Typically, the city averages only ~3.5 inches annually, often seeing more ice/sleet.

Hole-in-one!

This could be you!

Making a hole-in-one is one of the greatest accomplishments in golf. As members of Pine Island, we want you to have the ultimate celebration.

"He shoots, he scores!"

– Happy Gilmore

Starting April 1st, we are bringing back the Hole-In-One Club. When a member makes an ace, we will send out a celebratory email inviting all members to come to the club and enjoy a 19th hole beverage with you. You will also receive your choice of 4 carefully selected prizes to showcase and commemorate your life achievement. All members will be opted in for this program. When an ace is made, everyone in the program will contribute five dollars on their next monthly statement. We are excited about this club because it generates a sense of camaraderie and encourages the entire Pine Island family to be with you and celebrate your ace.

Lastly, at the end of the year, the club will host an “Aces Dinner” for all of our sharp shooters to gather and trade stories about their memorable shot.

All members will be included in this club. The first ace will be “on the house. To give all of you if you owe for the program. Moving forward, you will be given the opportunity to opt out if you do not want to participate. We think it’s the most fun you can have for five dollars in Charlotte.

Dining & Entertainment

Jeff King, Director of Food & Beverage

This year has already been filled with flavor, celebration, and unforgettable moments. We kicked things off with the return of First Friday Live Music, bringing energy, great food, and a lively atmosphere to start each month. Our popular “Flight Club,” invites our Members to explore curated selections, discover new favorites, and connect over some outstanding wine!

February gave us even more to celebrate. Our elegant Valentine’s Day Dinner created

created a romantic evening of beautifully crafted cuisine, while the Frozen Princess Brunch brought magic and smiles to families throughout the Club. These events reminded us that food and beverage are about more than dining, they’re about creating experiences together.

The excitement continues in March with another First Friday, a new Flight Club lineup, our hands-on cooking class, “Fresh and Easy,” and a

creative Bird Box Making event. Behind the scenes, our team is preparing exciting new food menus featuring fresh seasonal flavors, along with an updated wine menu designed to elevate every dining experience. And we’re just getting started. We’re looking ahead to festive Easter Brunch and a heartfelt Mother’s Day Brunch, with even more memorable moments to come. Cheers to a fantastic year so far and an even better one ahead!
