MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR

HELLO, I'M CITY OF COOLIDGE'S MAYOR JON THOMPSON and I'm thrilled to welcome you to our vibrant city, nestled between Phoenix and Tucson and home to the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, a cornerstone of America's story preserved by the National Park Service.

In recent years Coolidge has reached major milestones in business and industry. Lucid expanded its Arizona footprint by acquiring former Nikola facilities in Coolidge and Phoenix, adding more than 884,000 square feet of advanced manufacturing and testing capacity that complements its AMP-1 campus and positions the company for future growth in the corridor.

Procter & Gamble has announced a $500 million fabric-care facility at the Inland Port Arizona (IPAZ) site here in Coolidge. The project remains a significant long-term investment for the region, even as private-sector updates suggest the schedule has shifted beyond the earliest 2025 expectations.

Infrastructure keeps pace with that momentum. Our Municipal Airport continues to secure FAA grants to reconstruct and modernize runway assets, part of an ongoing slate of improvements, and regional partners have advanced roadway upgrades serving Inland Port Arizona. Aviation has become a standout strength. At Coolidge Municipal Airport, Ecube, now part of Unical, operates a North American hub

together with Win Aviation and their new 33,000 sqft Hangar Facility, all adding skilled jobs at and around the airfield.

Our quality-of-life investments are growing, too. Phase One of the new Regional Park is moving forward with walking trails, sport courts, picnic areas and an off-leash dog park, built from the 2023 master plan and current council actions. Our Aquatic Center opened in 2021 and remains a summer favorite for families across Coolidge.

Education is a point of pride. Coolidge Unified School District offers AP, CTE, and dual-enrollment pathways with Central Arizona College. Our students access advanced technical programs through the Central Arizona Valley Institute of Technology (CAVIT), from health sciences to cybersecurity and law enforcement.

PINAL COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

PINAL COUNTY CELEBRATES ITS 150TH ANNIVERSARY, THE REGION IS ENTERING ONE OF ITS MOST DYNAMIC PERIODS OF GROWTH. Once rooted primarily in agriculture, the county has transformed into one of Arizona’s fastest-growing and most economically vibrant areas. Rapid population growth, strong industrial investment, and a renewed focus on workforce development are positioning Pinal County as a major driver of the state’s economic future.

Today, Pinal County is Arizona’s third most populous county, home to almost 500,000 residents—an impressive 24% increase since 2010. Families and professionals continue to choose communities such as Coolidge, Casa Grande, San Tan Valley, Maricopa, and Florence for their affordability, central location, and expanding job opportunities. San Tan Valley, now home to approximately 106,179 residents, recently achieved a major milestone as voters approved incorporation, officially establishing it as Arizona’s newest municipality. With its population size, San Tan Valley is now the 11th largest municipality in Arizona, a testament to its remarkable growth and increasing regional influence.

Pinal County’s economic momentum is equally notable. In 2023, the county achieved 9% GDP growth—triple the statewide rate—bringing total economic output to an estimated $14.3 billion. Rising incomes and job creation across advanced manufacturing, clean energy, semiconductor supply chain, aerospace and defense, logistics, and mining reflect a thriving and increasingly diverse economic landscape.

Major employers continue to shape this transformation. In Coolidge, Lucid Motors has expanded operations, strengthening the county’s role in the electric vehicle industry and attracting suppliers and workforce investment. The broader clean-technology ecosystem also benefits from the presence of LG Energy Solution, whose growth in Arizona’s

battery manufacturing sector is drawing supply-chain partners to the region. Developments at and around Coolidge Municipal Airport— including aviation maintenance operations such as ECube—highlight the county’s increasing role in aerospace and defense, positioning the airport as an important economic driver.

Natural resource projects add further economic strength. The Florence Copper Project—now more than halfway through construction—will become an important domestic source of copper essential for electric vehicles, batteries, and renewable energy systems. Resolution Copper, located near Superior, recently overcame a key legal hurdle, moving the project closer to development. Once operational, it has the potential to supply up to 25% of U.S. copper demand and generate billions in long-term economic impact. Renewable energy projects such as the SunDog Solar Energy Center will continue contributing to regional growth through job creation and long-term revenue supporting schools, infrastructure, and public services.

Evidence of economic progress is visible throughout the county, with new commercial, residential, and industrial development expanding across multiple communities. Investments in infrastructure— transportation, utilities, and community amenities—are enhancing mobility, supporting business expansion, and improving quality of life, particularly in fast-growing areas like Coolidge.

To sustain this momentum, Pinal County continues to prioritize business attraction and expansion, focusing on cultivating the region’s next generation of multi-entrepreneurs—innovators and business leaders who will drive future growth. Through strategic partnerships, proactive engagement, and support for both emerging and established enterprises, the county is building a strong foundation for long-term prosperity fueled by entrepreneurship, innovation, and community investment.

AS CITY MANAGER, I LEAD A TEAM OF PROFESSIONALS THAT WORK TIRELESSLY THROUGHOUT THE ORGANIZATION TO PROVIDE EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Our city is making progress across multiple fronts—industrial manufacturing, commercial expansion, multifamily developments, and single-family housing. GROWTH

Reconstructed roadways, revitalized parks, improved landscaping, and new community amenities are making Coolidge an even more attractive place to do business, work, and call home. We’re leading the way in industrial development at Inland Port Arizona, welcoming renowned companies like Lucid Motors, Procter & Gamble, and working on ambitious new energy initiatives.

Our amenities such as Kenilworth Park and the Aquatics Center continue to be enjoyed by residents of all ages. There’s real excitement as we are in the planning phase for the approximately 67-acre regional

park. It will be a new destination for the community including walking trails, splash pads, pickleball courts, a dog park, more ball fields, and additional recreation opportunities for everyone. Coolidge Municipal Airport is another bright spot, with major upgrades like a reconstructed main runway and enhanced security that are drawing in businesses— Complete Parachute Solutions, AIM, E Cube and making our monthly Lions Club fly-ins breakfast a true community tradition for aviation, motorcycle enthusiasts, and the general public alike.

AGRICULTURE

Agriculture is still a cornerstone of Coolidge, but it’s now complemented by advanced manufacturing—including Lucid, Procter & Gamble, Stinger Bridge and Iron, Bright International, and others— resulting in a balanced and growing local economy. As new industries grow, so does our ability to offer job opportunities and a stronger economic foundation for our citizens.

BUSINESS & INDUSTRY

A key part of Coolidge’s success lies in strong partnerships with organizations like Jackob Anderson’s Saint Holdings and our Chamber of Commerce. Saint Holdings has played a central role in attracting new companies and driving our economic development strategy, working alongside the Arizona Commerce Authority to efficiently

respond to businesses interested in investing here. Through our Chamber, we support and assist member businesses across a wide variety of programs—from Business Retention and Expansion to workforce training through Arizona@Work—ensuring our companies can recruit talent and remain competitive. Our Chamber has also done remarkable work in securing grants for marketing and community outreach, expanding the reach and resilience of local businesses. We also work closely with our utility partners APS, SRP, ED-2, and SCIP, in economic development and making sure our electrical grid is reliable and can provide the power needed by our citizens, but also for our new manufacturers and those looking to relocate to our community. City staff are dedicated to efficiency and service, working side by side with partners like Stantec for expert and timely plan review and inspections on some of the largest and most complex industrial projects in Arizona. The expertise we bring to critical sectors—including utilityscale electrical systems and advanced manufacturing—sets Coolidge apart as an ideal community for business growth. As semiconductor manufacturers expand into Arizona, supply chain firms are also considering Coolidge’s Inland Port for their next facilities.

EDUCATION

Education and workforce training are an important part of our community. We have a robust vocational public school, Central Arizona Valley Institute of Technology (CAVIT), that serves all the high schools in central Pinal County. At this school, Juniors and Seniors can enroll in any of the 22 programs to earn a certificate in areas like robotics and automation, nursing, welding, drone technology and many others. They can also earn credits towards a degree from Central Arizona College (CAC), whose main campus is in Coolidge, and also has four additional community college campuses throughout Pinal County. With a growing population now over 20,000, housing development is a key part of our success—helping us attract new retail, restaurants, and quality of life amenities, and creating more opportunities for Coolidge residents to live, work, and prosper here.

TOURISM

Tourism also plays an important role in Coolidge’s success. The Casa Grande Ruins National Monument is America’s first archaeological reserve and dates back to 1350 C.E. This impressive structure has stood as a legacy to the ancestral Sonoran Desert people. The monument receives over 100,000 visitors annually and is one of the most popular National Park sites in Arizona. Additionally, plans were recently approved for a Marriott hotel located near Safeway, across from the Casa Grande Ruins which will allow visitors more time to stay and enjoy all that Coolidge has to offer.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation has always been a focus. Thanks to increased city and state revenues, along with substantial federal support, we’re rehabilitating old roads and building new infrastructure. Partners like Pinal County have played an invaluable role in these efforts, from construction services to administering critical grants like the $15.3 million BUILD grant that brought new infrastructure to Inland Port Arizona. Efficient roads and rail are vital, connecting Coolidge businesses to national markets and ensuring safety and quality for our residents.

LOCAL SCHOOLS

COOLIDGE IS HOME TO THE LARGEST COLLEGE IN PINAL COUNTY AND EXCELLENT SCHOOLS

The City is also home to Pinal County’s largest college, Central Arizona College. This two-year educational institution prepares both recent high school graduates as well as those who are looking for a career transition. Their highly focused programs not only help those who wish to further their learning at a four year college but also prepare students for the local economy. Programs like heavy equipment operation, welding and medical assisting allow students to readily find a career in their field.

In addition to traditional programs, CAC is working with various local industries like Lucid Motors to design a state of the art program. The program works specifically with industries to accommodate their needs to find skilled workers. This prepares students to start work immediately upon graduation. It is these future thinking education institutions and industry leaders helping to make Pinal County and Coolidge an attractive community to call home.

In addition to Central Arizona College, the Central Arizona Valley Institute of Technology (CAVIT) has a host of high school training programs. Career technology education prepares students to enter the workforce immediately after graduation or to pursue further education at a community college or university. Some of the programs at the CAVIT campus include fire science, law enforcement, medical and nursing.

Excellent education at the elementary to the high school level is also something the community takes seriously. The Coolidge Unified School District operates several schools in the area. In addition, Imagine Schools, a charter school system, has planted roots in Coolidge starting with an elementary school in 2007. With its rapid popularity , Imagine has grown into a full K-12 campus in 2011, adding a preparatory building for middle and high school. This commitment by the area residents in quality education symbolizes Coolidge’s goal of training our future leaders of tomorrow.

CENTRAL ARIZONA COLLEGE

CENTRAL ARIZONA

COLLEGE (CAC) is dedicated to creating a world-class learning experience with affordable educational options close to home for residents of Pinal County and surrounding communities. With campuses in Coolidge, San Tan Valley, Apache Junction, Maricopa and Winkelman—as well as a growing selection of online courses—CAC offers flexible learning options that fit every lifestyle.

Recognizing that every student’s path is unique, CAC has developed multiple ‘Areas of Interest’ designed to help students achieve their goals. These areas include certificates, associate degrees and academic pathways that prepare students for successful careers or seamless transfer to four-year universities.

In a major step forward, CAC has received full approval to offer its first bachelor’s degree: the Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (BSEE). This 120-credit-hour program is scheduled to launch in Fall 2026, marking an exciting milestone in the college’s ongoing expansion of academic opportunities. Additionally, plans are underway to introduce a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), further supporting Arizona’s growing need for qualified healthcare professionals.

For students planning to continue their education, CAC maintains strong transfer partnerships with Arizona State University, Northern

Arizona University, the University of Arizona and other four-year institutions. CAC offers personalized support, transfer tools and established university partnerships to ensure a smooth transition from CAC to university life.

High school students can also get a head start on college through CAC’s Early College Programs, earning college credits before graduation. These opportunities help families save on tuition and allow students to explore career interests early, setting the stage for longterm academic and professional success.

Education at CAC isn’t limited to degree-seeking students. Through its Community and Continuing Education offerings, residents can take classes in language, computer skills, dance, ceramics, CPR and much more. THE COOLIDGE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT #21 (CUSD) proudly provides a comprehensive and inclusive educational experience for students residing within our district boundaries. Since 1925, we have served the City of Coolidge and its surrounding areas, including the Gila River Indian Community, with a steadfast commitment to academic excellence and community partnership.

CUSD operates multiple schools and programs designed to meet the diverse needs, goals, and interests of every learner:

 Coolidge Mini Bears – Preschool program for children ages 3–5

We are proud that all CUSD schools provide free breakfast and lunch for every student, regardless of income. This commitment ensures

Our district offers a broad range of opportunities in the fine arts, including band, choir, dance, drama, and visual arts, and we proudly operate seven Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs to prepare students for future careers. CENTRAL ARIZONA VALLEY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (CAVIT) provides career and technical training in 21 areas to 11-12th grade students from seventeen area high schools on our central campus located in Coolidge, Arizona. The mission of CAVIT is to provide career and technical education (CTE) opportunities for students to become members of a competitive workforce. Our school’s vision, Education with a Purpose, challenges students to strive for and realize their personalized career journey through rigorous and relevant inquirybased instruction promoting teamwork and collaboration with peers, educators, and experts in the real world.

Students acquire high levels of technical skill knowledge, coupled with employability professional skills, and a firm academic foundation that prepares them for a technological and global society. We believe every student deserves the opportunity and support to achieve their dreams. Our students are a fascinating montage of motivated individuals that accept responsibility for their own learning.

Upon entering our A+ School of Excellence campus, you can immediately sense there is a purpose to everyone’s step. Envision a group of Law Enforcement and Fire Science students respectfully leading the daily flag raising ceremony in military style. Picture walking into the massage clinic to observe teenage students giving

various types of massage to community members; they are dressed professionally in scrubs and the clinic looks, feels, smells, and sounds like a day spa. Community members with leashed dogs and/or carrying cats in carriers enter the veterinary science classroom, where a full array of services is offered by students, including but not limited to, animal exams, grooming, and assisting the resident veterinarian with simple surgeries.

At CAVIT, our students realize the opportunities of chosen career fields daily as they put into practice relevant technical skills in real life settings or scenarios. The focus is on the student. Our teachers, expert facilitators of the acquisition of knowledge and skills, observe, advise, modify, and evaluate. There is a rigorous academic component embedded in every standard, which is demonstrated through hands-on application.

IMAGINE SCHOOLS IS A NETWORK OF NON-PROFIT PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOLS. Imagine Schools in Coolidge was established in 2008 with Imagine Coolidge Elementary School (ICOE). Imagine Coolidge Elementary School proudly educates students in Preschool5th grade. Imagine Schools in Coolidge offers a seamless education from elementary through graduation, as students transition to Imagine Prep Coolidge (IPC), which was founded in 2011. IMAGINE COOLIDGE ELEMENTARY

Imagine Coolidge Elementary School is accredited through AdvancED and is a designated State School of Character through character.org. Additionally, ICOE has received Promising Practice awards through character.org for the past several years. ICOE has maintained a highly performing status through the Arizona Department of Education since 2018.

Imagine Coolidge Elementary School’s teachers and staff are loving, compassionate, and supportive of all students. Staff know each student on an individual level and support them both academically and socially. Students who attend ICOE receive whole group instruction that aligns to the Arizona College and Career Readiness Standards in addition to targeted small group instruction for reading and math daily. Students participate in Spanish, Technology, Physical Education and Art classes weekly. Imagine Coolidge Elementary School collaborates with families and the surrounding communities through monthly events.

IMAGINE PREP COOLIDGE

Imagine Prep Coolidge is a light for families who choose the option of a family feel for their students. We pride ourselves on making deep

connections with students that support them both academically and emotionally. We are unique with our 6-12 grade structure and sister school, Imagine Coolidge Elementary right next door for our K-5 students. Imagine Schools in Coolidge offers a complete educational experience for our families and we are lucky enough to be on the same campus.

The Prep offers a full range of athletics with opportunities for students of all abilities to be included in our programs. Our wrestling team boasts state champions and many of our athletic programs make it to the playoffs and beyond. We offer AVID, all levels of Spanish and Art, Music, Videography, and FFA as some of our electives. We also partner with Central Arizona Valley Institute of Technology (CAVIT) where our students can earn certificates to enter a range of careers, right out of high school. IPC is CAVIT’s premier partner with the highest percentage of students in Pinal County coming from our school. Other partners include the Gila River Indian Community, Pinal County Junior Livestock Committee, the Coolidge Chamber, Central Arizona College, and the Pinal Hispanic Council to name a few.

IPC has a 21st Century grant that allows us to offer before and after-school programs including, academic tutoring, robotics, boxing, crafts, and gaming. We are happy that these enrichment opportunities further develop our students and strengthen the relationships between students and staff. Our master schedule includes an academic workshop time for targeted interventions in reading and math and for additional support for our English language learners.

ACHIEVE PINAL

ONLY 31% OF PINAL COUNTY’S THIRD GRADERS READ AT GRADE LEVEL, BUT ACHIEVE PINAL EXPERIENCE CORPS IS CHANGING THAT — one student at a time. As part of the national AARP Experience Corps program, local volunteers work with young readers to build essential literacy skills that prepare them for future success.

Launched in 2019, Achieve Pinal is the only rural, self-funded affiliate in the country. Since 2020, more than 1,000 Pinal County students have received tutoring across 19 schools in nine districts. In 2024–25, 87% of participants improved at least one reading level, and over half advanced two or more. Strong reading skills open the door to academic achievement, graduation, and a better quality of life.

Our goal for 2025–26 is to reach 450 students in 10 districts. To support this effort, you can become a tutor or make a tax-deductible donation to help local children succeed.

WORLDS OF WORK (WOW) CAREER EXPO

Today, 65% of jobs require education or training beyond high school, yet only 45% of Arizona adults have it. Achieve Pinal’s Worlds of Work Career Expo (WOW) bridges that gap by connecting students and residents with hundreds of exciting local career opportunities. In partnership with ARIZONA@WORK, WOW highlights more than 500 career paths in Pinal County—from robotics and public safety to agriculture, healthcare, and skilled trades. COOLIDGE: A CENTURY OF GROWTH, GRIT, AND COMMUNITY

OVER 100 YEARS AGO, Richard J. Jones stood on open desert and envisioned a thriving town where opportunity would take root. With the Coolidge Dam under construction and the Southern Pacific Railroad carving its way through the desert, the foundations of Coolidge were set. On June 2, 1925, the townsite was officially platted—marking the beginning of a story built on determination, community, and vision. The early years were filled with the energy of possibility. The first cotton gin, ice plant, grocery stores, and community church appeared almost overnight. Farmers, merchants, and families worked side by side to create a town that would serve the new agricultural heart of Pinal County. Even before Coolidge had a city government, its people organized the Coolidge Chamber of Commerce in 1928 to build the roads, attract business, and shape the future together.

By the time President Calvin Coolidge dedicated the dam that bears his name in 1930, the town was thriving. Cotton fields stretched for miles, and the new Tucson-Phoenix Highway brought travelers right through Main Street. In the decades that followed, Coolidge flourished completely with bustling shops, two movie theaters, a drive-in, a roller rink, and even a local radio station where Waylon Jennings once spun records.

Like many American towns, Coolidge faced changes as times evolved. The construction of Interstate 10 shifted traffic patterns, and the pace of life slowed. Yet through it all, the city’s strong sense of community never faded. Residents continued to care for their neighbors, celebrate their traditions, and preserve their heritage. Today, Coolidge is growing once again. The same land that once promised prosperity through agriculture now holds new promise through innovation and industry. Companies like Lucid and Procter & Gamble are bringing jobs and energy to the region, while new neighborhoods, parks, and schools reflect a community on the rise. The Coolidge Municipal Airport buzzes with activity, and events like Cotton Days keep the spirit of the past alive for new generations.

As Coolidge comes into its centennial, its story comes full circle— rooted in the determination of its founders and inspired by the dreams of those who call it home today. COTTON EXPRESS PUBLIC TRANSIT

With over 35 years of service, the Cotton Express continues to provide excellent public transit service to all residents and visitors of Coolidge. Cotton Express services provide an average of 21,000 annual passenger trips, keeping the Coolidge community mobile and providing access to employment, healthcare, shopping, education, and recreational activities.

Cotton Express provides two unique Deviated-Flex routes that operate Monday-Friday from 7:00am to 8:00pm, with the routes providing access to shopping centers, doctor’s offices, parks, city facilities and much more. In addition, Demand-Response service provides curb-to-curb service anywhere within Coolidge city limits—be sure to reserve a trip well ahead of time as this service books quickly!

Big changes will be coming to Cotton Express services soon, so be sure to keep an eye out on our upcoming service improvements!

– CENTRAL ARIZONA REGIONAL TRANSIT

Founded in 2010, Central Arizona Regional Transit (CART) is Pinal County’s original regional public transit system, connecting the communities of Coolidge, Florence, and Casa Grande. CART creates possibilities for Pinal County residents to access employment, education, social services, and countless other opportunities that may be unreachable otherwise.

Forged by a partnership with the City of Coolidge, Town of Florence, Central Arizona College and Pinal County, CART has successfully provided regional transit service for 15 years. As the only regional transit service provider in Pinal County, CART plays a large role in providing mobility to residents of the central Arizona valley.

Currently, CART provides a Regional Fixed-Route service that connects Coolidge, Florence, Central Arizona College, and Casa Grande, operating Monday-Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. With the service constantly evolving, be on the lookout for future service changes!

COOLIDGE TRANSIT STATION

Completed in 2010, the Coolidge Transit Station is a one-of-a-kind transit facility located at 395 W. Palo Verde Avenue. Our facility was designed as the centerpiece of public transit service in Pinal County, with a vision of growth for the transit needs of the City of Coolidge and each of its neighboring communities in Pinal County. The Transit Station has provided a safe and reliable hub for over 575,000 transit riders since its inception; we welcome you to visit and explore our facility soon.

IMPACT

THE COOLIDGE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT HAS A RICH HISTORY AND CONTINUES TO PLAY A VITAL ROLE IN SERVING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND AVIATION ENTHUSIASTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. Originally constructed by the U.S. Department of the Army in the early 1940s as the Coolidge Army Airfield, the airport has evolved through decades of military and civilian service.

FROM ARMY AIRFIELD TO MUNICIPAL HUB

In its early years, the Coolidge Army Airfield was designed as a single-engine aircraft training base. During World War II, it became an Air Transport Command base, serving as an auxiliary operating field for what is now Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

Following the war, the Secretary of War declared the airfield surplus in November 1945, and it was transferred to Pinal County in 1950, then to the City of Coolidge in 1959.

Between 1962 and 1992, the airport supported various military operations through lease agreements before officially transitioning to civilian use.

MODERN IMPROVEMENTS AND INVESTMENTS

Today, the City of Coolidge owns and operates the airport, which continues to expand through state and federal partnerships. Most recently, the City secured a $2.8 million FAA and ADOT funded grant for the design and construction of Taxiway C and Apron Improvements, scheduled for completion during the 2025/2026 FAA grant cycle. These upgrades will improve aircraft circulation, apron capacity, and safety for larger and more complex operations. Additionally, the airport has seen significant private investment, including the construction of a new 33,000-square-foot Win Aviation hangar and office facility. This expansion supports aircraft maintenance, storage, and advanced aviation services, solidifying Coolidge as an emerging hub for both general aviation and commercial maintenance operations.

HISTORIC LEGACY AND LOCATION

The airport retains a sense of its military heritage, with its historic wooden hangar—featured in television commercials and films—still standing proudly on site. Two of the three original triangular runways remain active, and the airfield encompasses 1,268 acres, located just five miles southeast of Coolidge.

Its proximity to both the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas makes it strategically positioned for regional business growth and aviation logistics.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND EVENTS

Beyond aviation, the Coolidge Municipal Airport remains a cornerstone of community involvement. From October through March, the airport hosts its monthly Fly-In Breakfast Fundraiser on the first Saturday of each month, from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM.

Breakfast is prepared by the Coolidge Lions Club for $10 per plate, attracting pilots and visitors from across the nation. The event features a variety of aircraft—from vintage warbirds to modern jets and experimental planes—and serves as both a social highlight and a fundraiser for community programs benefiting local youth and senior services.

COOLIDGE LIBRARY

GATHER TO GROW, LEARN, SHARE, CONNECT

Originally founded by the Coolidge Women’s Club in 1930, the library has been part of the community for nearly a century. Since 1967, it has called 160 W Central Ave home, where the staff continues to provide a welcoming space and a wealth of information for everyone. The library offers a wide variety of programs for all ages throughout the week. Children can jump and sing their way through story times, show off their artistic flair at Artful Antics, learn grandmaster moves at the all-ages Chess Club, dive into STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) through hands-on activities, and discover the world around them with a steady lineup of special events.

Adults can find countless ways to learn, create, and connect— whether it’s improving English skills, exploring crafts, joining friendly discussions, or getting help with a job search. Central Arizona College leads ESL (English as a Second Language) classes. Arizona @ Work offers one-on-one employment guidance. Library staff host a variety of craft classes and friendly discussion groups.

There are also many ways to support your community at the library. The library regularly hosts blood drives. Not a fan of needles? That’s okay. You can still make a difference by joining the Friends of the Coolidge Library. This dedicated group organizes book sales and uses the proceeds to support library programs and services.

From reading challenges and art lessons to games and prizes, families will find endless ways to keep kids engaged all summer long. Every day brings something new to explore.

The library is so much more than books. Unwind with a movie or TV show on DVD. Borrow a hiking backpack and explore the outdoors. Pick up a culture pass for free admission to area museums or zoos. Print your documents using the Princh app or a library computer. Take home a packet of seeds and grow something new. Make new friends while your children play in the Imagination Station. The Coolidge Police Department looks forward to another year of growth, innovation, and partnership in serving our community. This year marks the beginning of an exciting new era of law enforcement collaboration within Arizona’s Golden Corridor. With the recent annexation of Central Arizona College into the city limits, the college’s police department now officially joins forces with ours in a partnership that will greatly benefit both Coolidge residents and CAC students.

Mutual aid agreements and interagency coordination are already underway, laying the foundation for stronger, more efficient public safety services. Together, the departments will share training opportunities, resources, and expertise—enhancing readiness, response, and the overall quality of service we deliver to the community.

Founded in 1939, the Coolidge Fire Department has proudly carried forward a long-standing tradition of service and dedication. Today, we remain steadfast in our mission to protect and support the citizens, neighbors, and guests of Coolidge.

Our top priority is community risk reduction, and as an all-risk fire department, we are fully prepared to respond to any emergency. We are proud to maintain an I.S.O. rating of 3, reflecting our commitment to readiness and excellence.

Our greatest strength is our team of 20 highly trained firefighters. This includes 12 full-time firefighters providing 24/7 coverage from our central station, 6 dedicated volunteers, and 2 Chief-level officers who live in and proudly serve the City of Coolidge. Together, they bring professionalism, compassion, and unwavering dedication to every call.

Our fleet is equipped to meet the diverse needs of our community, including three Engines, a 75-foot Aerial Ladder, a Water Tender, one Brush Truck, two Command Vehicles, and a state-of-the-art Fire Prevention and Education Trailer. With the addition of our new Fire Marshal position, we now offer enhanced inspection and investigative services across our jurisdiction, along with an active public education program that serves school-age children.

We are committed to reducing risks—from fires to motor vehicle accidents to a wide range of emergencies—through code enforcement, public education (including CPR and first aid trainings), engineering solutions, and meaningful community engagement.

Our department maintains strong ties throughout the community, including valuable partnerships with Central Arizona College and the Central Arizona Valley Institute of Technology. These relationships strengthen our mission and help ensure a safer, more resilient Coolidge.

CASA GRANDE RUINS NATIONAL MONUMENT: A WINDOW INTO ANCIENT ARIZONA

The Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, located in the heart of Arizona’s Sonoran Desert, is one of the most significant archaeological sites in the Southwest. Preserving the remarkable legacy of the Hohokam people, this site offers a rare glimpse into a civilization that thrived here more than 700 years ago.

The Hohokam were masterful farmers and engineers, building extensive irrigation canals to sustain their communities in an arid landscape. Their sophisticated society included planned villages, ceremonial structures, and complex trade networks that connected them to other cultures across the region. The monument’s centerpiece, the Great House, is a four-story adobe structure dating back to the 14th century. Its massive walls, carefully constructed without modern tools, reveal the Hohokam’s advanced knowledge of architecture and communal planning. Archaeologists believe it served ceremonial, social, and possibly administrative purposes for the surrounding community.

The surrounding ruins further illustrate daily life in the Hohokam villages. Visitors can see smaller dwellings, storage areas, and evidence of agricultural practices that sustained a thriving society in the desert. Artifacts discovered at the site — including pottery, tools, and shell jewelry — highlight the Hohokam’s craftsmanship and their connections to broader trade networks throughout the Southwest.

Today, the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument offers selfguided tours, ranger-led programs, and interpretive exhibits to help visitors understand the cultural and historical significance of the site. Walking the paths around the Great House, one can imagine a vibrant community that lived, worked, and celebrated here centuries ago.

PINAL COUNTY CHAPTER 36 VETERANS MUSEUM

The DAV Veterans Museum, opened on May 8, 2021. The museum houses a collection of 800 items dating back from World War I to the present. We honor all veterans, past, present and future. One of the collections is the “Missing Man Table”, also known as the POW/MIA/ KIA table. Every item on the table has a special meaning for those who are Prisoners Of Wars, Missing In Action and Killed In Action. The table, set for one, is small, symbolizing the frailty of one prisoner, alone against his or her suppressors. It is round to show our concern for them is never ending.

The White Tablecloth draped over the table is white symbolic of the purity of their intentions to respond to their country’s call to arms –so that their fellow countrymen and families could remain free.

The Single Red Rose signifies the blood they may have shed in sacrifice to ensure the freedom of our beloved United States of America. It also reminds us of the family and friends of our missing comrades who keep the faith, while awaiting their return.

The Red Ribbon tied so prominently on the vase represents the love of our country, which inspired them to answer the nation’s call and the red ribbons worn on the labels of the thousands who demand with unyielding determination a proper accounting of our comrades who are not among us today.

The Slice of Lemon on the plate reminds us of their bitter fate – if we do not bring them home.

The Salt on the plate reminds us of the countless fallen tears of families as they wait.

The Glass Inverted – they cannot toast with us this day.

The Empty Chair, which depicts an unknown face, representing no specific Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine, but all who are not here with us.

The Lone Candle symbolized the frailty of a prisoner alone, trying to stand up against his oppressors. It is reminiscent of the light of hope which lives in our hearts to illuminate their way home, away from their captors, to the open arms of a grateful nation.

The Bible represents the strength gained through faith in our Country, founded as one Nation under God, to sustain those lost from our midst.

Remember – all of you who served with them and called them comrades, who depended upon their might and aid, and relied upon them, for surely, they have not forsaken you. Let us remember and never forget their sacrifices.

The POW/MIA/KIA ceremony is an important part of many military banquets to remind us that the strength of those who fight for our country often times rests in the traditions that are upheld today. National POW/MIA/KIA Recognition Day is observed on the third Friday in September. When you see this table, take time to reflect on why that small, lone table is there and raise a glass for our fallen comrades. Take a moment to remember those who served as prisoners of war and thousands who remain missing in action since World War II.

Discover the Wonders of the Pinal Geology and Mineral Museum

Welcome to the Pinal Geology and Mineral Museum in Coolidge — where Arizona’s rich geological story comes to life! Before you even step inside, you’ll be greeted by colorful copper ore specimens that hint at the treasures waiting within. Inside, two spacious galleries feature fascinating exhibits that showcase the geology of Pinal County, stunning minerals and gems from around the world, and beautifully prepared fossils spanning millions of years of Earth’s history.

A highlight of the museum is its dedicated meteorite exhibit, donated by the late Dr. Carleton Moore, a pioneering researcher in meteorite studies. Visitors can also marvel at a dazzling display of Bisbee minerals, a stunning array of Arizona wulfenite (our official State Mineral), and an impressive selection of mineral spheres and Arizona specimens from the collection of the museum’s founder, Dr. Raymond Grant.

Opened in 2016, the museum is proudly operated by the Pinal Geology and Mineral Society (PGMS), a group dedicated to education, exploration, and appreciation of Earth’s natural treasures. From September through May, PGMS hosts monthly meetings featuring engaging speakers, hands-on learning, and lively discussions. The museum also presents special events such as the Arizona Fossil Fest, Mystery Mineral Day, and the Geo-Book Fair, as well as field trips that give participants the chance to collect their own specimens.

The museum’s fossil exhibits take visitors on a journey from ancient seas filled with sponges to the age of dinosaurs, mammoths, and Megalodons. Dinosaur enthusiasts will enjoy meeting life-size reconstructions of Allosaurus and Dilophosaurus, alongside genuine

dinosaur bone fossils. Visitors can also see a giant plate of fossil ferns, realistic petrified wood, and an exciting fluorescent mineral display featuring “rocks that glow” in the dark.

The gift shop is constantly restocked with fossils, minerals, jewelry, polished stones, and geology-themed crafts — with all proceeds directly supporting museum programs.

Kids will love the free fossil dig inside the museum, complete with a specimen bag and fossil guide to take their finds home. Outdoors, visitors can admire a massive T. Rex skull, a soaring Pteranodon model, wall-mounted specimens, and Cullen’s Mineral Dig, where children and families can discover their own treasures at no cost.

Educators are always welcome! The museum offers free class and group field trips, a Treasure Hunt activity for kids, and classroom resources to help teachers bring Earth Sciences to life. Museum volunteers can even visit your school for special programs and events.

Have a rock or fossil you can’t identify? Bring it in! The knowledgeable team will gladly help identify your specimens and even provide labels for your collection.

The museum is always looking for volunteers — whether to prepare educational kits, sort specimens, restock displays, or simply share your passion for geology with visitors.

HISTORY COMES ALIVE AT THE PINAL COUNTY HISTORICAL MUSEUM!

The Pinal County Historical Society (PCHS) was founded in the late 1950s by a group of private citizens dedicated to preserving the history of Pinal County. It was the first organization with this objective, and other communities later formed their own historical preservation groups. PCHS's focus has been on Florence and the surrounding area in the Gila River valley, highlighting the events and people who have shaped the growth and development of the town. Through our museum collections, we bring these stories to life with engaging displays and artifacts.

The founders aimed to establish a permanent home for their collected artifacts and create an endowment for the museum's long-term sustainability. Our current building was constructed in the early 1970s, with an additional exhibit area added in the late ‘70s.

Situated on Main Street in the Town of Florence, PCHS boasts an extensive collection on display both inside the Museum and in the yard, where you can find agricultural equipment, retired fire vehicles, and a homestead cottage.

As a private, non-profit organization, PCHS has received accreditation from the State of Arizona Historical Society. We do not receive financial support from either Pinal County or the Town of Florence.

Over the years, the Museum has gained a reputation for handling artifacts professionally and respectfully, which has encouraged more families to donate heirlooms that enrich the region's history. These displays contribute to the residents’ deeper appreciation of the area's history, from the Hohokam period to the founders of Florence.

For more than four decades, the Coolidge Annual Cotton Days Festival has been a proud tradition, weaving together the rich agricultural roots of our community with family fun, entertainment, and hometown pride. Now in its 44th year, Cotton Days continues to honor the crop that helped build Coolidge — cotton, often called our valley’s “White Gold.”

What began as a local celebration of the area’s farming heritage has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated annual events. Each year, thousands of residents and visitors gather in downtown Coolidge to experience a weekend full of festivities that highlight the best of small-town charm and community connection.

The festival typically features a vibrant parade, live music and entertainment, food vendors, arts and crafts booths, a carnival, children’s activities, and the everpopular cotton-themed competitions. These attractions bring generations together — from longtime farming families who remember working the cotton fields to young families making new memories.
