Pillsbury House + Theatre’s mission is to co-create enduring change towards a just society through art. Pillsbury House + Theatre creates theatre productions, arts programs and projects aimed at increasing Access, Attachment and Agency among audiences, artists and community members.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT Pillsbury House + Theatre acknowledges that we are on unceded Dakota territory. The Dakota and Ojibwe people continue to live on this land, including the sovereign nations of the Bois Forte Band of Ojibwe, Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Grand Portage Chippewa, Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, Red Lake Nation, White Earth Nation, Lower Sioux Indian Community, Prairie Island Indian Community, Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, and Upper Sioux Community. These Indigenous people and more continue to live on this land despite the genocidal efforts and forced removal by the State of Minnesota and the United States Government. The land we are on was, is, and will always be Indigenous land. The Settlement House movement which gave rise to Pillsbury House + Theatre has a history of erasure with respect to Native communities. In alignment with our mission to create challenging art that inspires enduring change towards a just society, Pillsbury House + Theatre commits to continue including Indigenous voices, whether they be Dakota, Ojibwe, or any of the 30+ Indigenous Nations represented in the Twin Cities area and across the globe. Ensemble Erin WIllis Erin is so excited to make her Pillsbury debut! She was most recently seen in Nacirema Society and Primary Trust (Guthrie Theatre). Broadway National Tour: My Fair Lady (Cameron Mackintosh/Trevor Nunn First National). Erin has appeared in over nine seasons at the Denver Center, most recently in Rattlesnake Kate, Christmas Carol, Oklahoma!, The Who’s Tommy, and The Wild Party. Other Regional: Beautiful-The Carole King Musical, Travlin’ and Memphis (Arvada Center); Ain’t Misbehavin’ (Milwaukee Repertory Theatre); Ragtime (Cohoes Music Hall); Dreamgirls (Asbury Park). Erin loves developing new works and has acted in many NY/Regional Workshops. Erin also provides vocals and keyboards for the Indie Rock band Kenji Urada. Training: The Boston Conservatory. Aimee K. Bryant Aimee K. Bryant has built a lengthy resume performing on stages throughout the Twin Cities since she graduated from Howard University. Most recently, she appeared in Don’t Bother Me, I Can’t Cope, at Penumbra; A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Nacirema Society at the Guthrie; and History on a Schtick at the MN State Fair. In addition to being a director and actor, Aimee is a teaching artist, songwriter, and vocalist. Her debut CD Becoming is available online. Aimee was named City Pages 2015 Actress of the Year, and is a McKnight Theatre Artist Fellow for 2015-2016. Thomasina Petrus Thomasina Petrus is a professional jazz singer, songwriter and 35yr (AEA) actor who cultivated her multi-talents through study, mentorship, and the friendships of many Twin Cities elite artists. She is a creative muse rooted in the legacy of Black Women’s voices. Thomasina now creates exceptional music and theatre experiences for stage, film, corporate and commercial marketing. She has toured the country honoring Billie Holiday with productions of Lady Day @ Emerson’s Bar & Grill by Lanie Robertson. Thomasina has staged original productions includingThe Best of Billie & Me. Etta James…Dreams to Remember, and Hot Chocolate, a multi-Holiday concert series and full musical stage production. Thomasina is co-author of Hold a musical poem/play with incarcerated women through HCL. She scored music for the world premiere of Ashti’s Journey to Jazz by Carmen Rubin and was just honored by the Twin Cities Film Festival 2023 for her work on the documentary soundtrack The Water Cries for The Juneteenth Story, From Galveston, TX to Minnesota, and Bells for Philando 2022, both produced with OMG Media Solutions.
Traci Shannon Traci Shannon is thrilled to return to the stage in this production after a hiatus from live performance. A former company member at the renowned Children’s Theatre Company; some of her favorite credits there include Cinderella and The Wizard of Oz. Her work across the Twin Cities theater community also includes performances at Pillsbury House Theatre, Penumbra Theatre, Park Square Theatre, and The Ordway. All her love to Daniel for his unwavering support, and she dedicates this performance to her extraordinary children, who inspire her every day to be great.
Sanford Moore Sanford Moore (Musical Director) is most noted as the director and arranger for the award-winning vocal jazz ensemble Moore by Four. Having traveled the U.S. and Europe performing their unique style of Jazz/Gospel. Sanford is currently Musical Director for Penumbra Theater, musical directing Don’t Bother Me, I Can’t Cope, Sugar in our Wounds, The Amen Corner, Black Nativity, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Get Ready and Dinah Was. Theater Latte Da; The Color Purple, Hello Dolly. Artistry; Once on this Island, Singing in the Rain. Elizabeth MacNally (Stage Manager) Elizabeth has been stage managing in the Twin Cities since 2001, and considers Pillsbury House Theatre her artistic home. Some of her favorite shows in the past include Main Street and Hiding in the Open at the History Theatre; Next Fall and Recent Tragic Events at the Jungle Theater; Bull Jean, The Brothers Size, Buzzer, and The Children at Pillsbury House Theatre and 9 Parts of Desire at the Guthrie Theater. Elizabeth has a B.F.A. from Rockford University, is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association, and is a 2021-2022 McKnight Theatre Artist Fellow at the Playwrights’ Center.
Ashawnti Sakina Ford (Assitant Director) Ashawnti Sakina Ford is a Twin Cities theatre artist (actor, producer, director), teaching artist and an international improv comedian. Her work has been seen on such notable stages including; Children’s Theatre Company, The Jungle Theater, Penumbra Theatre, History Theatre and Pillsbury House Theatre. When not on the stage or teaching for the stage, Ashawnti serves as your favorite substitute teacher, Mother to the Incredible Iniko and Dog Mom to the wonderful Nina SiBone. She is honored to work on such an incredible project with talented artists she deeply admires.
Artistic and Production Staff William Boles (Scenic Designer) William Boles most recently designed the set for A Lesson in Love by Nubia Monks at Pillsbury House. Working at the intersection of theater, landscape, and poetry William founded FUTURE FUTURE PARKS, a mixed media studio launched in 2020 that explores how performance and nature can coexist as transformative public experiences. His work spans new plays, operas, and site-specific landscapes, taking him across the U.S. and internationally. Her Pillsbury House Theatre credits include A Raisin in the Sun, Fences, Seven Guitars, Brother/Sister Plays, including the Ivey Award for Outstanding Ensemble for Marcus or the Secret of Sweet. She has worked with CTC, The Guthrie, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Macalester College, Northrup, Orchestra Hall, The O’Shaughnessy, Penumbra, Pillsbury House, Theatre 55, University of Minnesota, VocalEssence, and Walker Art Center.
Karin Olson+ (Lighting Design) Karin Olson is a lighting designer whose Twin Cities credits include Park Square Theatre, History Theatre, Theatre Mu, Penumbra Theatre, Mixed Blood Theatre, the Guthrie Theater, and the Ordway. Regional credits include Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Cleveland Play House, Alliance Theatre, and South Coast Repertory. Her design for Into the Burrow: A Peter Rabbit Story received a Suzi Bass Award. Karin is a 2023–24 McKnight Fellow and a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829. Recent projects include A Chorus Line at Park Square and In the Heights at Artistry. Upcoming projects include Pinocchio at Children’s Theatre Company and Falstaff at Minnesota Opera. Jacourtney Mountain-Bluhm(Costume Designer) Jacourtney Mountain-Bluhm has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Texas State Univeristy - San Marcos and is a Costume Design Assistant at the Guthrie Theater along with being a local independent Costume Designer. Ellie Simonett (Lighting Design Assitant) Ellie Simonett is thrilled to be designing at Pillsbury House for the first time! Ellie is a Lighting Designer around the Twin Cities. Her credits include New Native Theatre: Blood Quantum Physics, A Christmas In Ochopee, This Is How We Got Here; Phipps Center: Drowsy Chaperone, Arsenic And Old Lace; and At The Children’s Theatre Company: Be More Chill, Head Over Heels, Twelfth Night. She’s also been the Assistant Lighting Designer at the Minnesota Opera, the Guthrie, Children’s Theatre Company, and the Ordway. Jenny Moeller (Properties Designer) Jenny Moeller (she/her) is thrilled to be returning to Pillsbury House Theatre. She is a props and lighting designer, director, playwright, and theater artist working in the Twin Cities. She is currently Technical Director of the Twin Cities Horror Festival, serves on the board for Arts Nest, and is the former Artistic Director of Raw Sugar. She has worked as producer, playwright, director, technical director, designer, and builder for many theaters, including Penumbra, Theatre Pro Rata, Nimbus, the Minnesota Opera, Southern Theater, Theatre Unbound, Four Humors, Six Points Theater, and many others. She believes that stories make us human, and has a passion for helping others. Jamakah Webb (Hair & Make-Up Design) Jamakah Webb is a licensed cosmetologist and wigs, hair, and makeup designer with over 20 years of experience in theatre, film, television, and live performance, making her Pillsbury House Theatre debut. She specializes in wig ventilation, custom facial hair, textured hair care, braiding, loc maintenance, precision cutting, and color. Jamakah has assisted renowned hairstylist Kim Kimble and contributed to Beyoncé Knowles’ Black Is King. Her credits include The Nacirema Society, Primary Trust, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cabaret, Macbeth, and Little Women at the Guthrie Theater, as well as Paradise Blue, When We Are Found, Marisol, and Don’t Bother Me, I Can’t Cope at Penumbra Theatre. She is passionate about creating authentic, story-driven hair and makeup design. Peter Morrow (Sound Design) Peter Morrow moved to the Twin Cities from Dublin, Ireland in 2012. He has designed, composed and collaborated with many companies, colleges, and amazing artists along the way. Those include Interact, Wonderlust, Full Circle, Red Eye, Stages Theatre Company, Exposed Brick, Mni Giizhik, New Arab American Theater, Theater Mu, Penumbra, New Native Theatre, Pangea, Playwrights’ Center, Theater Latté Da, The Children’s Theatre Company and the Guthrie Theater; Body Watani, BRKFST, Threads and Collide; Ifrah Mansour, A.P. The Ruth Easton Fund Actress Ruth Easton (née Edelstein) was born in North Branch, Minnesota and graduated from North Branch High School. She attended the University of Minnesota for one year and the following year attended Macalester College before finishing her collegiate career at Cumnock School in Los Angeles. She went on to New York where she studied acting with Oliver Morosco. Mr. Morosco opened a stock theater company in upstate New York where Ms. Easton starred in several plays. After performing with other stock theater companies she returned to New York City where she appeared in five Broadway plays over a period of seven years. They included Exceedingly Small, Privilege Car, Town Bay, Buckaroo and Charlie Chan. Exceedingly Small was directed by Ethel Barrymore and Easton played opposite Eric Dressler. New York critics praised her performance as “thoroughly touching” and “highly spirited and excellent.” She starred in radio dramas on the Rudy Vallee Hour and the Fleischmann’s Yeast Hour opposite such actors as Walter Huston, Judith Anderson and Lionel Barrymore. She also appeared with Clark Gable, Eddie Cantor and Al Jolson during the course of her career. Ms. Easton’s legacy, her commitment to theater and the development of new works continues through the charitable gifts distributed through the Ruth Easton Fund of the Edelstein Family Foundation.
