Exhibition Statement MORE takes its title from one of the first words many children learn. It names an appetite that is deeply human while echoing the relentless expansion of contemporary technological life. In Trisha Baga's immersive installation, these meanings coexist, opening onto an exploration of becoming and perception. Created during the artist's experience of becoming a parent, MORE unfolds through the logic of emergence. A child learns by moving through the world. Images gather. Bodies grow. Technologies absorb and generate. The exhibition follows these parallel forms of transformation, revealing how living and constructed systems continually shape one another. Working with stereoscopic video and sculptural environments, Baga transforms the gallery into a landscape where orientation is always in flux. Home becomes cosmos. A child wearing a headlamp crosses the familiar clutter of an apartment until toys and furniture resemble an asteroid field. The beam of light searches and maps. What feels immense becomes intimate. Standing in the gallery, we remain physically present while perception slips between dimensions. Looking becomes a form of navigation. Images are encountered less as representations than as environments to inhabit. The work continually returns us to the experience of being a body in space while loosening our certainty about where that space begins or ends. Nothing in MORE settles into a single register. Information behaves like atmosphere. Meaning accumulates through movement and return. We are experiencing a world that is not simply viewed but inhabited, where every encounter participates in an ongoing process of becoming. It is a world of weirding possibilities and the insistence of life beyond measure.
About the Artist Trisha Baga (b. 1985, Venice, FL) lives and works in New York. Baga will be part of Here, To you, Now, the 2026 Converge 45 Triennial in Portland and received the USA Fellowship Award in 2024. Baga’s work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Pirelli HangarBicocca, Milan; CCC, Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, Harvard College, Cambridge; Zabludowicz Collection, London; and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. Their immersive large-scale painting installation BODY CLOCK was exhibited at Art Basel Unlimited in 2021. That same year, their video installation HOPE illuminated the façade of Kassel’s Fridericianum on the United States election day. Baga's work was included in the exhibition HOPE at Museion, Bolzano curated by Bart van der Heide and Leonie Radine and The Irreplaceable Human at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebaek. They have also participated in group exhibitions at Tanoto Art Foundation, Singapore; ARoS Aarhus Art Museum, Aarhus; Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna; Biennale für aktuelle Fotografie, Ludwigshafen am Rhein; PS1, New York; Centre d’Art Contemporain, Geneva; European Biennial of Contemporary Art, Zurich; and Julia Stoschek Foundation at ZKM, Düsseldorf, among many other venues. About the Curator Lumi Tan is an independent curator and writer based in New York City, specializing in interdisciplinary exhibitions and performances. She is curator of the 2026 Converge 45 citywide triennial exhibition and the Focus section at Frieze New York. From 2022–2024, she was the Curatorial Director of Luna Luna. From 2010-2022, Tan was Senior Curator at The Kitchen, New York, where she organized exhibitions and produced performances. Tan has also held positions at the Fonds Régional d’Art Contemporain Nord Pas-de-Calais, France; Zach Feuer Gallery, New York; and MoMA/P.S.1, New York. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, Artforum, Frieze, Mousse, Cura, Art in America, and numerous exhibition catalogs and artist monographs. She was the recipient of the 2020 VIA Art Fund Curatorial Fellowship, and has been faculty at the School of Visual Arts, Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College, and Yale School of Art.

About Converge 45 Founded in 2016, Converge 45 is a Portland-based nonprofit that strengthens the region’s arts ecosystem through ambitious, collaborative contemporary art programs that are free and open to the public.
