Earlier this month, we held our annual Employee Excellence Awards, an event that highlights outstanding work throughout our organization. What makes these awards especially meaningful is that nominations come directly from fellow employees to recognize work that exemplifies Work Hard, Spend Wisely, and Be Kind
The awards serve as a reminder of the professionalism, initiative, and dedication present across the city workforce They acknowledge contributions that make us a great City and improve the service we provide to the residents of Phoenix.

Celebrate AANHPI Heritage Month with a Fun Workshop!
May is Asian-American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month Phoenix Asian League (PAL) invites you to learn about the ancient Japanese garden art of kokedama (moss ball) that embodies the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, which finds beauty in natural imperfection and the rustic simplicity of the earth
Guest speaker Michael Levi, owner of the local urban garden shop Wright in the Garden, will demonstrate how to make a kokedama so you can transform your ordinary houseplants into living, sculptural art. He will give away the two kokedamas he creates to two lucky new PAL members.
Everyone’s invited but space is very limited. Bring your lunch!

Have you heard? The Planning and Development Department has successfully launched SHAPE PHX Release 3!
Release 3 brings our remaining commercial applications into the modernized customer portal, creating a unified digital entry point for Planning and Development services. With Releases 1 and 2 already in place, Release 3 completes the transition to a streamlined, intuitive, and transparent digital permitting experience. The expanded SHAPE PHX customer portal provides 24/7 access.

Act Now: Get Your Child a City Badge
It’s less than a month to go until Bring Your Child to Work Day at the City One of the more popular events last year was children getting a special City badge
This year, the new badging process means no waiting in line! Instead, make sure you fill out the kid badge request form (one per child) no later than June 4. You will need to upload a photo of your child and list the future job they want to have at the City
Badges are limited, so requests will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To pick up your child's badge, look for the Public Works booth on the first floor on June 11.

Public Works Facilities Management Division (FMD) is hiring an Electrician. FMD maintains more than 860 city-owned and leased facilities across Phoenix, providing electrical, HVAC, building maintenance, project planning, Fire/Life Safety, and energy management services
Key Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and lighting
Perform and document preventative maintenance
Provide responsive customer service to internal and external partners
Operate earthmoving, pneumatic, and aerial equipment (up to 120 ft)
Lead apprentices and team members on projects as needed
Use desktop and mobile devices for communication and time entry
This position may require irregular shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays, after-hours, and on-call or standby for emergency support and requests Standby is currently compensated at $2 50 per hour, with callout requests and responses being paid at time and a half the normal hourly wage
Available Shifts:
1st shift 6:30 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.
2nd shift 1:00 P.M. -11:30 P.M.
3rd shift 11:00 P.M. - 9:30 A.M.
