NCCA takes beef seriously Local group supports cattlemen, use of beef in schools
By SKYE POURNAZARI The Forum
MARYVILLE, Mo. — The Nodaway County Cattlemen’s Association continues to do what it does best: serve up beef for local hungry bellies and support local cattlemen. One way in which the association helps beef become more available is through providing all the beef used in area high school concession stands.
This totals 3,500 patties and 2,100 allbeef hot dogs. “I think that we’re getting quality beef into these schools,” NCCA Co-President Kyle Schieber said. “Not every kid gets to experience good, home-raised, quality beef. I think if we can get that in schools that is excellent.” Each year the cattlemen have donated 1,000 all-beef hot dogs to the annual Downtown Trick-or-Treat event. The association provides seven $1,000
scholarships to students, one from each school district in the county. It also provides a chance for the recipient to renew the scholarship the next year. The group also cooks at around 20 different corporate and private events throughout the county. Each year the group donates and cooks the meat for the Heart of American Tractor Cruise.
