ear Phi Kappa Tau Stakeholders, I am a few months into my tenure as Executive Director of your Foundation for Phi Kappa Tau. I say “your” Foundation because that is what it is and what the foundation team will strive to make it. Using the Foundation as an instrument to engage in philanthropy collectively, we individually and as a group can make an impact on our Fraternity and our nation. The United States is the most philanthropic country in the world, and we have a role to play! We have just completed another banner year, setting a record for Founders Day of Giving and gaining new engaged donors every day. Whether you choose to give to the Brotherhood Fund or something more specific and chapter-related, rest assured, it will make a difference. We cannot thank each of you enough for your growing interest and participation. I must take the time again to send a special thank you to Jim Bacon, Michigan Tech ’59, who added to his endowed scholarship fund, closing in on the million-dollar goal he has set for himself!
The Boles Society continues to grow, representing the Foundation’s most intimate supporting family. Our team has BIG plans for the Boles Society this coming fiscal year, and we believe our aspirational goals will be achieved, engaging more Phi Taus than ever. This year’s annual campaign is already underway, and the focus will be on Chapter Giving and the Boles Society. Please take the time to look at what we have going on, why we do what we do, and the impact it will make. Most importantly, thank you to each donor listed in these pages. T
he love and dedication Ray Cox, PE, North Carolina State ’89, has for Phi Kappa Tau is prevalent to all those who surround him. Following the completion of his undergraduate degree, Cox served as a Domain Director and a National Councilor. It was following these positions that he took some time away to focus on his family and career. As his career began to flourish, the Cox family kept their altruistic spirit alive— volunteering for and donating to organizations for which they had a passion. During this time, Cox fell into a pattern of giving to the Foundation only after all other charitable obligations were fulfilled. He described it as “giving what was left over,” and it wasn’t until he was reengaged about becoming a Foundation Trustee that his mindset began to shift. Cut to April of 2023, at the Foundation Board meeting in Chicago. Cox became increasingly confident in the direction the
Foundation was heading, and the productivity, comradery, and brotherhood of the weekend began to inspire a lot of emotion in him. No longer did he want to just give what was left over, but it became his goal to ensure that more young men around the country could experience something that had made such a difference in his own life. It was on the final day of this meeting that Cox pledged an astounding $100,000 gift to the Phi Kappa Tau Foundation. This pledge is a moving testament to the enduring spirit of brotherhood—coming from a brother who needed just a small push to reinvigorate the spark of eternal brotherhood. A gift of this magnitude doesn’t come from just one person, so the Phi Kappa Tau Foundation is overjoyed to thank the whole Cox family; including Ray and his wife of 25 years, Heidi, and their children, Miller and Marlee. Miller Cox, South Carolina ’21, has kept the Phi Tau spirit alive for another generation, and currently acts as the president of the Zeta Xi chapter.

EWING T. BOLES SOCIETY Altruism is a trait of any Man of Distinction, and Honorary Founder Ewing T. Boles, Centre ’14, set the standard. The Ewing T. Boles Society recognizes brothers and friends who contribute $1,000 or more to the Foundation on an annual basis. The legacy left by Brother Boles has inspired generations of Phi Tau men and philanthropic individuals to live as he once did and impart their own kindness upon our brotherhood. LAURELS ERIC STENTA, OHIO STATE '84, has been promoted to CEO and President of Polly’s Pies, which has provided a time-honored tradition for families and communities in Southern California and beyond with its never-ending goal of offering excellent service with the freshest, tastiest “homestyle” cooking and baking.
[1975] Superior Court Judge William Oliver, Georgia, has been sworn in as the third superior court judge in the Mountain Judicial Circuit. He was appointed by Gov. Brian Kemp in December. He was officially sworn in on January 13th at the Habersham County Courthouse by Chief Judge Smith. [1981] Centro Modern Furnishings, co-founded by Todd Lannom, Miami, celebrated its
25th year in business in July. Centro was named one of the top design showrooms in the USA by Architectural Digest, and several of their designs can be found in the Decorative Arts Collection of the Saint Louis Art Museum.

[1982] Former Foundation Trustee Don Phillips, Texas, receives the Alumni Service Award from the University of Chicago for his relentless support of the Graham School’s liberal arts mission.

[1984] Steve Clark, Georgetown, a Master Seargent in the U.S. Army Reserve is currently deployed to Landstuhl, Germany. His unit, the 7456 Medical Operations Readiness Unit, Detachment 43, is responsible for the medical evacuation of ill, injured, and wounded U.S. military personnel from the Middle Eastern, African, and European theaters of operation. [1987] Robert Butera, Georgia Tech, has been named Chief Research Operations Officer for Georgia Tech. In this inaugural position, Butera will serve in a critical leadership role to facilitate and direct the Institute’s research activities and oversee Research Integrity Assurance, Research Administration, and Research Development and Operations. [1990] Rod Harl, UC Berkeley, and his company, Alene Candles, has been recognized as Business NH Magazine’s 2023 Business of the Year in manufacturing. Alene Candles is the nation’s leading full-service contract and private-label candle and home fragrance manufacturer.

[1995] Hayden Mauk, Transylvania, was the Distinguished Achievement Award recipient for his alma mater’s convocation this past spring. He is an Emmyaward-winning producer and director with years of experience in unscripted television. [1997] Aman Sidhu, William & Mary, was named to the university’s Bold Leaders List. As a litigation partner in Winston & Strawn’s Washington, D.C., office, Amandeep focuses his practice on regulatory and compliance counseling, state and federal government investigations, and complex civil litigation in the health care and life sciences industries. [2006] Joe Dickman, Case Western Reserve, was honored by his alma mater for his work leading the mechanical design of the telescope as a member of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory team that carried
