Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park was filled with more than 200 walkers on Saturday, Sept. 6, hoping to raise funds to support research into Parkinson’s
disease and provide funding for provincial resources for the 17,000 people in BC who have it. Funds raised from the Prince George Parkinson SuperWalk amounted to $51,464.94 — almost tripling the previous record of $18,000.
The funds raised will go towards Parkinson Society BC to support research and provincial aid programs that are critically needed by those affected. As well, a barbecue hosted at the event by Telus Ambassadors donated 100 per cent of its proceeds.
Gina Beddome, a longtime supporter and organizer of a local Prince George Parkinson’s support group with more than 65 members, was instrumental in organizing the event. CONTINUED ON PAGE 2
