Work starting on involuntary care facility Premier announces Gunn Road facility will be operating by end of next year COLIN SLARK Citizen Staff

Almost 10 months after it was initially announced, Premier David Eby finally confirmed on Friday, July 10 that Prince George’s secure involuntary care facility for mental health, addictions and brain injuries will be located at the former youth correctional facility on Gunn Road. Speaking in front of the building, the premier said 211 Gunn Rd. will eventually feature 72 beds and will be developed in phases, with Phase 1 of construction featuring 24 beds and starting construction this September.
